He is really good but he doesn't have a popular song that feature his unique skills. It's like.. where am I going to use that? He has to come up a song that can hook guitar players to his technique. But Kudos to the new techniques that he is introducing.

Great video, minor comment would be that a couple of the clips that feature Tosin and reference his impact or genius are actually pieces composed by Javier, such as Para Mexer and Braindance (I think), but other than that great job, and I fully agree with the points made in the video.

Those of us that have studied music for decades across every genre that exists, and understand the nuances in not only producing, but performing such music, are able to appreciate everything he does - especially musically. Remove the obvious and virtuostic technical proficiency from the equation. The objective reality here is 100% defensible. Whether or not one prefers it, is a different, and irrelevant notion to the idea of "real."

I was at a Deftones Concert, Animals as Leaders were the first Band. I never heard about them before, all i can say is they absolutely killed the concert. They were so good that i hated Deftones and went home.

Good spot. But most guitar artists dont know how to make real music. I've loved guitar for 60 years none of these guitarists make me want to pick up my air guitar. For me if there's no melody there's no music.

All these youtube guitarists are the same. You've heard one song you've heard them all. Technique wise they can't be faulted. Lot of techniques but terrible song writing.

Honestly this just reveals who are the guitarists people listen to from back in the day vs today. I truly believe you can show skill in songwriting without shredding. Yes great skill and knowledge beyond me but you know how great someone is by service to the music. Tech Skill is great today but I don’t feel heart from a majority of today’s popular guitarist.

I said this in another comment but it’s crazy how many people don’t seem to understand what “PERSONAL OPINION” means! It’s based off of “PERSONAL OPINION” not your opinion, my opinion, or “their opinion”! I guess some people don’t seem to understand what “personal opinion” means nowadays! Because every single person has their own personal opinion even twins! And the world would be boring if everyone had the exact same opinion. Some people need to pick up a dictionary and not only read, but comprehend, and understand what “Personal opinion” actually means! Because some people seem to act like a person’s personal opinion list is the be all end all list! And that the person making the opinions in their video is wrong for some odd reason when they’re not! You can never, and I mean NEVER be wrong when making your own personal opinion!!! And a lot of people need to understand that! It would be different if this was like guitar world magazine and they claim for fact that this is the Greatest Top Modern Guitarist or something like that, but it’s not is it!

I've seen Tosin play a number of times now... The only criticism that I could level is that his improvisation is seriously lacking compared to other guitarists on the G4 tour. His comfort zone is playing an extremely complicated yet set shapes and patterns. Toasting himself says that's why he idolizes Guthrie Govan and Satriani.

I love tosin and Javier but its hard to differentiate one song from another sometimes... Its a lot of complex stuff thst still somehow sounds extremely similar

People who think Tosin is just playing techniques instead of music haven’t heard much music. They may have spent a lot of time listening to what they like, but animals as leaders is much easier than a lot of contemporary music. He uses rhythms and harmonies you don’t find elsewhere because it sounds super cool! He’s constructing moods etc. he’s expressing HIS voice and creating something unique. It’s exactly why they’re as popular as they are, you can’t really get what they’re doing anywhere else.
