Hey Marcel, I heard your name lots when I broke in in Holberg in 2014 and stayed until I got hurt in 2018. I broke in under Art, Ken, Randy, Martin, Brad. Cool video, thanks for posting it, great memories up there for me. Take care.
Was I the only one to fuck up in this old video??? Hahaha 😂
Keeping the economy going. Lol
Greasy old cedar needed to come to terms
Get the adrenaline going
Despite having lived in Holberg for decades, I'm still astonished that a single man can take down one of these behemoths!
Awesome Vid
@@LiamWakefield_ I'm glad you enjoyed
That's purely insane.

Watch your noggin!! Or you wont be logging!! Can't explain any better then that!!
It don't rain there its pisses for days!! You cross a creek in the morning end of the day its a raging river i had to drop many trees to get cross these creeks!! I was a tree spacer for years!
Yes, it sure does rain in holberg . What years did you work in holberg ?
Probably hit up the Ibis after this and got some suds from Pat!
You better believe it .
Nice drive.
Grew up in Kelsey Bay surrounded by logging and loggers like these. Solid hardworking people. I didn't want to be there as a kid, spent 5 years in the bush after high school anyways, but sure do miss that kind of community and camaraderie 40 years later.
Holy fuck that that's gnarly! Did he leave the stump high on the other one for some protection or was it to overcome a difficulty? Cheers
@@ArborRails the high stump was left from a machine
Awsome to watch those younger stars making stumps look up boys
@secondgear6079 that was myself Jeremy and Charles . Charles did the spring boards . I lost the big cedar down the hill, and Jeremy was in the hembal. Jeremy is no longer with us he did not make it through his career 😢 he was just the coolest man I ever men . I'm glad you're enjoying the videos !!!!
Great video of Marcel battling with what possibly could be a massive Sitka Spruce. He is a very skilled tree faller as is very evident in this fairly old footage of Marcel.
@johnmaclellan2589 I believe it was a hemlock . Marcel sure taught me a lot and was a very good man to work with .
Beautiful hembal! Sigh
sept 12 2010 i started trade school for mechanical work glad i got to learn from this generation the last of the old school before major internet and social media
I think it's pretty cool that you show respect and appreciate the old-timers . I I'm so grateful I got at work with those men .
Great music for us older ex loggers.
I have a couple of videos up, one from 1988 and the other from 6 or 8 years ago. Time for bed now.
What does k1100 mean? 65 yrs old, cut my whole life and have no idea what k1100 is.
@@loghog4392 it a cut block area . Kaprino 1100 . Logging road spur name .
@@ShaneNicholson-oz8gg LOL No wonder I didn't have a clue LOL Thanks for putting these vids up for us to watch!
@loghog4392 your very welcome. I'm so glad you enjoyed them . I'm running out of film so if you ever come across and old videos, I would love to add them to the collection .🙂
I sure was glad when they came out with the 084. Never much cared for the 075/076's and the 090's were heavy and slow (chain speed). Only thing I didn't like about the 84 was those pain in the butt oil lines... oh yea, and the plug wire would rub through and then short out. Good saws. Pulled a 60" bar just fine.
Like hair on a hog in there.pecker poles for pulp maybe.my dad logged all over the island in the 40’s,50’s and 60’s.I lived in a camp at Chamiss bay near Kyuquot when I was a youngster.started working on tugs when I was 20 and managed to get into most of these places all over the BC coast
Ole Bordman sure had a temper total respect for the man! Ole hennigan and husby eden lake years, all gone.we were hand logging in 1973,ole ian svisdahl was working with my ole man. I got told to follow him up the hill with my little homelite 922. Ian would westcoast 3ft dia cedars into the chuck. He told me about the 72 fallers strike. They were getting $70 day. We were getting $65 tfbm for our cedar. We put in 15 tfbm a day.1 to 2 log sections a day.You know time passes and new generations come into the woods i sure hope they stay safe. Goodness yes good ole turbo ted,so many gone. Last year Ray Fornier died of old age. He told me he was accident free from 1961,mostly falling trees in the charlottes. Rip all those that went before us.
RAYONEER CANADA LT, OWNED AND CONTROLLED BY LARGE AMERICAN CORPORATIONS YOU CAN THANK THE CONSERVATIVES FOR THAT
My dad was a hook tender my entire youth. When friends asked what my dad did for a living I said he’s a hook tender. No one could understand… so I said he’s a logger. Many different lines of work in the bush all equally respectable all equally as dangerous.
Been looking for this video for years. Thanks
To think that revenue and taxes went to the provincial coffers .. that then paid for our social services and infrastructure... what will pay for them ten years from now, certainly not Euro Greenlings or Carbon Tax Credits..
Centrone! Use to feed me dog treats! He would tell me they’re cookies😂 Ohhh the good ol days👍
Good chance I was there. Only woulda been 6 or 7 though👍
Love your videos. Old man’s been logging in nimpkish valley for 40 odd years. We enjoy the videos Shane!
Oh man, I'm happy you are enjoying them . If you know of anyone who would like their videos added to the archives, it would be great . 😊
Unbelievable footage, thanks for sharing
i love jackyl
I know most of those guys and Angus is the only one I know who killed a Bear by hitting it with a motorcycle
Did you run supersnorckle by any chance ?
I did about 6 years logging in B.C. in early 60s at 19 yrs old. , Biggest trees I ever fell were cedars up Stave Lake , they were huge.
What’s the accent?

Thanks Shane.
Hi Shane, my dad is pretty excited that you are sharing his videos this way. Quick note that his last name is misspelled on this one.
Wish I was still a lumber jack and thats ok

I love that you documented the work. But, Gol Dang! I hate seeing all the broken trees. The ground on those hillsides looks unforgiving.
Thanks for uploading this, Shane. Abe was my grandfather. We have the VHS copies of a bunch of these, but to be able to watch it anywhere anytime is amazing. You have really brought a lot of joy to our family.
That makes me so happy 😊 . I worked with Marcel in holberg for many years .
Man what horses…I live in eastern Ky and were known for thoroughbreds but I like these big boys..Clydesdales and Percherons

Nothing fake about it. it's all the real deal I'm glad you enjoyed . This video was done by Marcel Levesque he was our safety representative and one of the best guys you could ever work with .
