Barracks Trail November 4th 2024
Just outside of Zion National Park lies this gem of an offroad trail that gives you incredible viewpoints of such scenery. As you begin this trail, you wind your way through the canyon carved by the East Fork of the Virgin River, crossing it nearly half a dozen times. Many people believe that this is the highlight of the trail. While it is fun, this is only the beginning. After you ascend from the canyon onto the plateau above, you really get to see the sights that The Barracks Trail has to offer. Changing scenery is accompanied by different vantage points to view the southern valley that borders the Coral Pink Sand Dunes, while to the northwest you can get a glimpse of Zion. This 4wd roa...

Awesome video. Way cool Willy's. Does that have a V8 in it???? Could springs? That is way cool!!!!
Wonderful video. Question.......... we noticed you did not carry extra fuel. With Dangling Rope no longer in existence, how did you make it to Bullfrog?
@stevewhitton8671 Hey Steve. I am thinking that the boat holds about 25 to 30 gallons, and in addition to that, we had another 30 gals in the center walkway up to the front of the boat that were under the blanket. The kids had to strategically straddle them every time they went up to the front, haha. We knew we couldn't make too many stops as we were on a time crunch, and we made it to bullfrog fine without using the extra gas, but coming back we did explore a bit more and used about 15 more of the extra gas. Also, we had ropes under the front seats. One more thing we did to save gas was we only used the Bimini in the extreme heat of the day as it cause drag. I hope this helps.
@@melanienielsen Thank you for your reply Please check out Steve & Laurie boat camping when you get a chance
@stevewhitton8671 I think we must have barely missed each other at the toilet bowl last year. Lol. So sad it is gone. Cry 😢
Absolutely stunning. Thanks for sharing!! Jim
Do you happen to know what weather is sorta like in October?? Thanks, Jim
@jamesbeaman5944 it will still be in th 90s, maybe high 80s. It's definitely nice enough to play in the water still. October will be an awesome time to visit. Especially if you are planning on any hiking. I made a video from last year where it was just my husband and me (no kids haha) and we did a lot more exploring and hiking. I will send that link if you want to check that video out as well. It is long, haha, so no worries if it loses your interest .

@alularussell778 awwwhhh thanks for watching this video. It really was like stipping into another world. I can't lie though the mountain lion kinda scared me. We saw tracks a few other times, and with them being that fresh in sand means he was probably close. Tracks in sand dont last long.
Oh hi Russ. 😁
Interesting but the songs/music rendered it unwatchable.
At which point did you turn it off
You did such an amazing job of capturing the magical beauty of Lake Powell. I used to live in SLC ( I’m in Florida now) and we went there almost every weekend in the summer it’s truly my favorite place in the world. Thanking for sharing this .
@user-hh9pe7xq2q ahhhhwwww thank you for your kind comment. This means so much to me. I am so sad the toilet bowl collaspe yesterday. I was glad to capture that feature at about 47 mins into this video. Now I wish I would have been brave enough to jump through it at the time. Thanks again.
We were in the area slso at the same time. How idid you survive the heat??
Haha no kidding right? We are from St. George Utah and we are pretty use to 105 plus degrees. But yeah I know the heat was a bit rough on us too. Glad you watched my video. We love this country.
Hello 😁 from Montana , I'm a new subscriber, I've been looking for more information on this historic trail for a long time, Thanks for Sharing!!!
Hi Mountain Girl. I lived in Laurel Montana for about 13 years. I love Montana. So cool you are learning about the history of this trail and the people who built and traveled it. I am so passionate about this topic and I will love to share a few more things with you. The following video is super old, but it is so well done and very accurate and best of all it is filmed on location so you get a great idea of the actual event. ruclips.net/video/hdcYZml6-d0/видео.html Here is another great youtube to watch ruclips.net/video/u9qKep6WJwg/видео.html And one last video is one from my channel and shows our experience going down the actual Hole in the Rock that is at the Colorado river (now lake Powell) crossing. I still cry to watch this video knowing what these people went through at this particular spot on the trail. ruclips.net/video/OOk0MBV6_8c/видео.html I hope this helps and I will love to hear any further thoughts you have. Also one last bit of information, Gerald Lund wrote a book called "Undaunted" and he does an amazing job bringing this whole part of history into light through a historical fiction point of view. Before he wrote the book, he traveled and visited the entire trail and read all the pioneer journals he could. It is a great read :) Thanks again.
Thank you for explaining this,it is an amazing site to see. Thanks again!!! 😊
Great fa.ily I loved your video, hope to see more ❤
@travispritchard7839 thank you for watching. Stay tuned... I have a rew more up my sleeve haha. Working on them now.

@conmckfly thank you and thank you for watching.
@@melanienielsen I want to add that your kids are getting a fabulous adventure and education
@conmckfly thank you. Sometimes I think we develop a very myopic view of life based on our own experiences. I think it is so wonderful to experience how people can live in such different times and experiences and how we can learn from them through the history that they have left for us.
thanks for taking us along!

@youtubevideoseoexpert0 I am always happy to learn and improve, but i have to be honest, I am not making or posting these for fame a glory. @@melanienielsen thank for your reply. 01. The first problem with your channel is: Your RUclips video has no SEO score, no channel tags, and no video tags. 02. I'm surprised that the park allows people to enter the rooms. Quite amazing ruins. Cool for the kids!!
@debrawilson3840 yeah me too, honestly. With these ruins, people are only allowed into that initial door but not any of the rooms behind. It is an honor system for sure. Some of these more popular sites are maintained (and repaired/restored) so that the public can go inside. We have been in another site in this area that has a perfectly preserved and repaired kiva that the public is allowed into. It is maintained and repaired by the native Americans and is done so with materials from the canyon just as the ancients used. It is pretty cool to experience these places that allow access. Thanks for watching my video.
What a cool video. Looks like you had a lot of fun.
@montanasbigsky it was so cool. This was just the beginning. On day 7 we hiked into a canyon that only had 8 previous people in since the beginning of the year. I am excited to document that one. These video takes so much work to put together and edit haha.

Alaska is such a fun place to cruise!
It really was so beautiful. I hadn't been on many cruises at this time and whenever I thought of a cruise, I envisioned white beaches and aqua clear waters and hot sun, so when my husband's parents announced an Alaskan cruise my heart was kinda sad. I just didn't know what to expect and living in Montana for 13 years, I just wanted to get away from the cold. I was so wrong. The entire trio took my breath away. So grateful for the experience.
We plan on going to lake Powell soon and this was very helpful
I hope you have a blast. I live about 2.5 hours away and we are hoping to go again this summer. We won't get away alone this time though. We have too many kids begging to go. Haha. Thanks for watching my video.
