Its life with horses, riding, training, schooling, cleaning, keeping caring. All the stuff no expertise necessarily implied. Just the journey documented for whatever that is worth.

The horses get turnout and I discuss my stall maintenance techniques - a new brand of shavings is compelling!
Arthur gets a wiggle and is moving really nice today
Просмотров 168Месяц назад
After a few rain days the horses are all telling me they need to wiggle. Arthur and I are getting closer to "there" about the bit - we worked on that a little in hand and I tried the new Wow saddle on him. It will need some adjustments to work on his back but it will work. Hoping the shorter tree bars help him enjoy being ridden more. He was moving really nice today. He had a lot of energy but ...
Groundwork with a gelding who barges into the handler's space and restarting him in a snaffle bit
Просмотров 141Месяц назад
Today the spotlight is on a client horse - sweet Bandit - a now eight or so years QH type gelding. He has been with us a year. When we got him we thought he would be a good beginner and lesson horse. He was "shutdown" a little, like most horses of his type and character. Used to just doing the thing and not complaining about it. After a few months in Camelot he found his voice - and he had a LO...
First groundwork with a 26 years breeding mare with no training.

It was an interesting first ground work training session with Princess April because she is so very obedient. I picked up the longe whip and sent her to the rail and she went like she for sure understood the ask but she showed so much anxiety I dropped that whip and just worked on getting her to come round to the idea that I am a good being to hang out with. She did not want much to do with me ...
Princess April Update - 4 days in Camelot

The lipo C has eliminated any outward sign of a uterus infection that we knew this mare has had for a couple few years. She is still adjusting to her new digs and there are lots of little ways care is needed right now. I am very excited about her progress :)
About blanketing horses
Просмотров 602 месяца назад
Other thoughts to share are if you are going to clip a horse that horse is going to need a layer to replace what nature has provided. Be ready to put a blanket on and take it off at the appropriate times. Super important that! And, put one on the same way I show to take it off. :)
Arthur first ride in a while
Просмотров 2372 месяца назад
Whenever I have to stop with this horse we start up again like this. Just like it was his first ride. A great trainer I admire says when you get stuck you don't go back to the previous step you go back to the very beginning and make sure it is all working before you move to the next thing. It felt a lot like my very first ride on him. At first I was even as nervous as I might be on a very green...

The next day in the 90. He was much easier to be around today so I think that his busy stuff will go away with regular work :)

Yucca for equine leaky gut and IBD

Documentary about the benefit of yucca for horses with leaky gut and/or IBD problems. Good effect with two tablespoons of Desert Pure Yucca a day.
She is intelligent and interested, and learns fast. Keep feeding her curiosity.
Any signs of enteroliths with her?
nope :) She is recovered completely now - shiny and much more sound though I still saw a hint of it in the last video. Fungus gone - coat clean and shiny. Still too skinny but gaining little by little. Someone left a nasty comment on that video that I should be trying to work with her at all but she needs to get stronger - her topline and in general her back need to improve. I can't wait to see her in six months or even a year. She gets better every day. It was said that she should just have been "put down" when I took her on. I am glad I was able to intervene and am sure no one would say such even today.
Instead of peppermints, I would do carrot bits or apple bits, though.
I use carrots too but the wrapper of the peppermint becomes the "trigger" once they get a few of them and that becomes such a handy tool on my belt. :)
@@cameloteq The wrapper, without the peppermint? Ok. Have you considered a kind of clicker - as for dogs. I do not know if that would work on horses but on the other hand I have no idea why it would not.
How much Arabian is this horse? Because, she is. She is intelligent and interested, and learns fast. Keep feeding her curiosity. She may have have 10-20 years in head of her.... Keep that in mind. - And instead of Princess, I think you should consider to call her the Queen. I think she has earned it already with all the foals she has produced into this world.
The "Queen" of Camelot might not want to relinquish the title :) But I agree that she is very special. She is a purebred with a fine pedigree. I have a gelding much younger who looks like she could have been his mommy. So pretty and sweet! Check out the video of the day she arrived in Camelot about a month ago. Thanks for watching <3

@@cameloteq Ok, I just found your channel. I'll check your kind link later, since it is like 1am where I live. So you have already international audience. Love to see you in the future, and her.
I can’t believe this is the same horse you showed a month ago. A month ago this horse looked like it was on death door. This horse looks like you could use a little more food, a little more exercise but fundamentally it seems OK. That is a gigantic step in the right direction. How did you do this magic?

I was born and raised in Northern California. Great information about blankets
Thanks for watching!
Maybe she has a rock in her foot or something simple. She has a kind but guarded spirit 💙🩵💙
I cleaned her hooves - I will have my farrier out on Tuesday to take a look and the vet first week in Dec.
Already looking better. What were you using for her U infection? I couldn't catch it in the first one. Super pretty Arabian
I am using liposomal vitamin C at high doses. I was told that antibiotics and standard vet protocol did not work for her and that it is "known" that these infections often do not ever go away and that horses can continue to live good lives inspite of that. But, I KNEW that high dose C would help her. So far nothing but good and no new white puss. We are continuing on with 12G of lipo C for at least a total of 10 days and - if it continues to be good - I will taper that off and down to 3G a day - which I give to all of my horses. Horses DO make their own C but high dose C can be such a miracle when it comes to infections. And when horses are sick giving them C can really make a difference. I am a believer and have been for a while - I take 3 to 6 G a day myself (humans do not make their own C). If you try it with a horse make sure to give the type that is emulsified with sunflower seed oil - some if it is made with eggs and that would not be good for a herbivore :)
@@cameloteqThank you for the information! I'm going to look into liposimal Vit C
Her eyes say she is in tremendous pain. Gross and irresponsible, how the owners didn't take care of her uterine infection 😢 She's a sweet girl. Please update her condition.
I think her previous owner has a great big heart and that there is a subset of equestrians who are doing what they think is right based on what we all learned when we were starting out. I am an old gal and my friend is a bit older than me. She did her best with what she knew and she followed vet instructions that the infection would not impair the horse heath - other than not breedable anymore. If she did not love the horse she would have sold or rehomed her a long time ago. She kept the mare in her care. She is the type that thinks horses are best left out all the time - we do live in CA where the weather stays pretty nice. I have happen to like to give my horses lives that make them feel royal - because I think they are. In Princess April's case my kind of care is working out real good. She looks better and happier every day - tomorrow will be one week with me. Here is my 5-day checkin. Thank you for watching and caring! ruclips.net/video/5WvZ1OJLJ_A/видео.htmlsi=Zo-3obdw14ejGDtC
