    Why not grabbing by the axle with some forks? Here in Europe i have a 2 axles tow truck and i grab those 3 axles trash trucks always on the front axle. Even when they're fully loaded. Dont u cause unnecessary damage to the front bumper?

    • @TowManRines
      @TowManRines 4 месяца назад

      If it doesn’t any damage it all, it’s at a minimal. I’ve done more damage putting a piece of angle iron against the bumper without some type of buffer between them. That’s just how I was taught and stuck with me. It reduces the weight on the truck some, making the ride not so rough as grabbing it by the axle. That’s just how I tow all of them besides some of the Peterbilt coe trucks with the extension frame for the pto pump.

    • @russsooomix
      @russsooomix 4 месяца назад

      Do you still get light stear even with your four axle tow truck? Mine is just a 2 axle and its only noticeble when its a 3 or 4 axle and fully loaded

    • @TowManRines
      @TowManRines 4 месяца назад

      Yes we do some. Garbage companies in my area are bad about overloading the trucks. We had to work one a few years ago that had a brake fire and burnt to a crisp. We had to send two wreckers to put it on a lowboy trailer. When we got back to their yard we weighed everything. Long story short, they had this front load Mack grossed out at over 90k lbs on your typical tadem axle truck, that was after burning all the way up and the water drying out.

    • @russsooomix
      @russsooomix 4 месяца назад

      Well, last time i had one with gearbox failure, 3 axle, lateral load with a crane, that i had to tow to the disposal site to get it clean then take it to the garage. The scale on the disposal site marked 47 Ton. I still grabed it by the axle with forks. Imagine the ride LOL

    • @TowManRines
      @TowManRines 4 месяца назад

      @russsooomix yea I bet that was a rough one. Just curious, what’s the steer axle weight on your truck that you run? Our Vulcan V103’s are on Peterbilts and the steer weight on them is 15k and when we grab a garbage truck by the axle with them, let’s just say they try turn in to space ships aimed for the moon on every bump we hit in the road, lmfao

    • @TowManRines
      @TowManRines 9 месяцев назад

      It could, but safely? Bring loaded, I wouldn’t unless there was issues with the rears or suspension. That’s a lot of stress being applied to the wrecker. But it’s a yes and a no answer. Yes I have done them loaded from the rear. No to being the safest way of doing them. 90% of the time, if we get one loaded that has to be rear towed for some reason. We will put it on a low boy. In my opinion, that’s the safest way if you couldn’t get it from the front, if loaded. If it’s empty, I use to grab them from the rear all the time.

    wondering why you let the tractor twist and why you turned it so slow. the. job turned out and everyone was safe thats the most important thing. some of these containers are heavy. so maybe that your reason for slowing down which is understandable. thanks for the show. how big are your wreckers just wondering?

    • @TowManRines
      @TowManRines 2 года назад

      I wanted more control over the box then anything. That’s the major point to me cause it’s the heaviest part. The tractor was already hurt. Wasn’t gonna hurt it anymore from doing it the way I did it, atleast in my eyes. Yes it helps to anchor down on the tractor to help it over, but it was also a small day cab and I know the weight of the can and load was enough to flip the tractor so in my mind I could let it bring it back over while I could keep full control of the container. The trucks on the scene there is a Vulcan v103 and then my truck being a Vulcan 935 rotator.

I was taught that with freightshakers if you pull the front passenger side axle an can spin drive shaft by hand your good to go...
