Great layout!!!!!
I would have more Rally action on three different Rally tracks but my GoPro battery died very early on. I did try something different this time though, adding soundtracks of actual cars, Jaguar XK120 and Ford GT40 and I like the effect so will do more of this. I used a website to strip the mp3 audio from a youtube video of a Jag and GT40 on a hillclimb run. Unfortunately there's a lot to organise on race nights and I'm not always ready.
@modelracecar your 3d printed Hoonigan Mustang V1 will have a new video on my channel tonight!!

Yes, that's the most important thing, enjoy driving your cars, if you do well it's a bonus.
Thanks Kev I appreciate the comments 🏁👍
Your Alfa is a belter, I loved driving it and it didn't seem to suffer from possible front left tyre rub on the wheel arch. If there was one criticism it would be it could have done with one or two teeth less on the crown gear to give it a little more top speed.
@@modelracecar Yep that was an error I should have kept a black or yellow crown in.
@@paulcooper5200 If it's any help I always start at 2.6:1 for short and long can motors.
Thanks for sorting out the grub screw. Fyi, the #31 Ferrari 250 GTO has an Amarto 3D chassis.
@@jeremybelcher3293 you're welcome, got to get the best out of the cars, after all I'm not going to get the chance to drive it again.
Nice cars thanks for the close up details it's good to see.
I enjoy doing these car previews as much as driving them and it's always helpful for other less experienced people in the hobby to know what to look for when setting a car up.
Manx Slot Car Club - Saturday Scalextric Club Test - 30th November 2024 - **ONE MAGNET IN MOST OF THESE OUT-OF-THE-BOX SCALEXTRIC CARS!* - track set at 12V --------------------------------------------------- 2:35 - let's talk cars - Ninco BMW V12 LMP for a proxy next year. 3:40 - Scalextric Jaguar XKRS (with magnet) and NSR red tyres. I'm talking about tuning the magnetic effect on the track. 6:52 - let's get the Jag on the track and see how it goes...I wasn't sure how the car would handle with the magnet as it's not something we use in our cars. However it went better than expected and here I'm trying different thickness steel shims stuck under the magnet to see what the various magnetic effect changes do to car handling. I found you can't push the car as much as a weighted non-mag car with glued & trued and treated tyres as the grip on those doesn't vary as the rear end moves sideways, but this lightweight mag car definitely suffers in corners if driven at higher speeds. You might think a mag car like this wouldn't require throttle control, I was pleasantly surprised that I had to 'drive' it like a non-mag car as the magnetic effect on the track is insignificant compared to driving on plastic track with steel rails. 10:02 - our mag checker. 14:44 - time for some more track action...I'm actually really enjoying driving this car, for such little car 'prep' (loose body screws, replace the tyres) it's a real eye opener! Contrary to what might be thought about racing with a magnet, this car is more prone to deslot than if I'd set it up for non-mag racing (ballast, glued & trued tyres, racing guide, lightweight interior). 16:37 - Let's drive that Ninco BMW V12...ooh it's lovely to drive in comparison to those other two, 'round' tyres, nice balance in corners...I can see this one getting raced for years after next years proxy, in fact I have another one of these and might set it up for our club racing. 20:49 - a close-up of the Ninco BMW V12 and observations. 22:29 - clean the tyres and some more track time with the BMW. 23:56 - my 'racers black book' 26:45 - The Fly Panoz wheels have a 'flangy thing'...plus a better look at the car in general. 30:04 - Fly Panoz LMP with a front motor with a sprung driveshaft extension to the rear axle has disaster written all over it and never going to compete in the real world...but I love the weird looks of these cars. Same changes as the Scaley Jag, NSR red tyres and the kit magnet, this car has a button magnet....some laps with the Panoz...it's not as nice a car to drive as the Jag, is very noisy...but I love it! 34:04 - a close-up of the Fly Panoz LMP and observations. 35:09 - track time for the Panoz, get those gears run-in. 36:25 - Panoz on the track observations. 37:00 - What exactly is magnetic effect on the track? 39:28 - more miles for the Panoz... 40:14 - sounds like Brian's turned up...quick hide! 40:25 - catchup with what Andy & myself found earlier. 47:06 - Brian having a go with the Jag (when he got home he bought two on eBay so he must have liked this one). 47:36 - Brian likes it...a big smile on his face. 48:34 - OK, let's race them both. 57:52 - time to have a go of the cars Brian set up for the Saturday Scalextric Club. He bought five cars for this and has set each one up with ballast and glued/trued tyres. 1:03:00 - Brian's going to go remove the lead from one car and fit a magnet we found in the club car box. Meanwhile I'll drive the Jag for a while then help him as getting a magnet in wasn't an easy job with the build-up of superglue in the pocket where the magnet sits. 1:17:17 - Drive the Jag again whilst I'm waiting. 1:27:03 - drive the Panoz and realise the brakes are way too strong so let's back that setting right off...below zero in fact! 1:31:48 - Brian's ready to test drive a Porsche with a magnet instead of all that lead ballast... 1:35:18 - he likes it! 1:35:31 - Scaley Porsche vs Scaley Jag XKRS...the Porsche doesn't have an interior as it has blacked out winder...super resistant I think they call it. 1:53:45 - final look at the Jag XKRS...it's fair to say todays test was a success!
Great looking tracks!!!!!!
When I first joined the club in 2015 I didn't like Slot Rally at all. A few weeks after joining our club hosted a round of 'Slot Rally GB' and I didn't do very well at all. I bought some Scaley Sport track and built a small test track on a door sized board (I still use it today) and spent ages testing and modifying and eventually learned a LOT about car setup. When we held the next major Slot Rally event in 2017 one of my cars was 'best overall time'... Today I love Slot Rally and really enjoy setting cars up for other club members.

Yeah you're right...it wouldn't have changed the results though as you would still be 2 nearly 2 laps behind Mike's Clio.
Great track view with that camera!!!! Voice is missing, but again great view!!!!!
It's a difficult one really, heavy duty banter on race nights may be offensive to some so I turn the volume down on purpose because you never know what might be said. The camera is now right next to the race control speaker so at least we'll hear how the races are progressing. I'm looking at getting a better webcam too, the current Logitech 920 maxes out at a lower quality than I'd like so a 1080/60fps should be better.

Woah, looks super sweet. How big is that table?
Thanks bud. The two tracks are on 8' x 4' boards which is 2.4m x 1.2m. There is a third Rally stage which is an elongated 'T' shape with long arms which is called TT Grandstand and based on the Isle of Man TT grandstand area. We do Targa Florio three times per year and is great fun, we'll probably make that four times next year. We have a Christmas special called the Turkey Targa (Florio).
👍👍👍
Great layout and race. Racing banter between grown ups is a great thing. Gave you a sub. Race on!
Thanks bud...we were a few club members short this week so only two lanes as there were only two people available to marshal...but that didn't stop us having some fantastic racing this week, the Saloon race after this one was even better.
I will check it out!
Is this track 4’ x 8’?
Yes, two 4x4 boards
I think it would be brilliant if you gave a video tour of your club. Cheers!
I'll have to make a new one since we added the third Rally stage a few weeks ago.
would have loved to see it close up. TR7 in all liveries was my scalextric favourite in the day. What livery please?
I love that track!!!!!!
Thanks, it drives better clockwise than anticlockwise and there's a real knack to getting round quickly. This track is in 6 pieces so we can have different layouts, a few of which we've tried but this particular one has fast and slow sections so quite satisfying.
@@modelracecar 😎🤟👍🤟😎
The RMS3 is great!
No sound
I'm trying to be careful about sound levels as it's either too loud, too much bad language, too quiet...you can't please everyone I'm afraid.
A walk-through of the clubroom and facilities ruclips.net/video/WOtk-VdN7Nw/видео.htmlsi=_8u4ypC4lVknL6Dp 👍
Evening Kevan. I think my Porsche is an early SRC or MRRC body, and the spur on my Mclaren is a simple sidewinder rather than a reversed angle winder. Cheers BAracer
I must have been seeing things because as you say it's a normal sidewinder spur.
❤❤❤❤ I enjoyed this. I grabbed a coffee and just hung it watching the cars go around and listen to the on going conversation. Thank you, this Old Merican man really enjoyed this video. I want to start up a slot car or train set hangout club at my end. Just some old guys into old racing cars or trains and talk with snacks. Good times.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the banter and racing. On a good day there would be another four club members and every race would have three cars. As there were only five of us and one is very restricted in his movement we have to have three marshals for all but the last race. The narrow Grand Prix cars have to be driven with care as they have high ground clearance and narrow tyres, we use CSCRA regs for these cars. www.cscra.co.uk/cscra-132-car-standards.html The small sports/saloons are slightly wider and have slightly wider tyres but have much less ground clearance so you can corner quicker.
Thats a great set up right there. Good job. Subbed
Thanks. It's a 6 piece modular track, we can swap sections around to make a new layout but we've used this current one for a few months.
@@modelracecar id love to see a video of the modular setup and take down. Apologies if theres one and i missed it.
@@IrrerasCarrera sorry that's not something I've done...yet!...but a great idea for a video, I'll keep it in mind bud 👍
Noice! That Lancia is one of my favourite cars to dive, the Scalextric one has the motor and rear axle in a separate subframe. Really good drift control. I also enjoy the Ninco Toyota Celica GT4. Both cars recover easily from drifting and sliding.
I forgot to set the camera recording so we don't see the Ninco Lancia 037 in action. It's one of my favourite standard Rally cars. . The Ninco Toyota Celica GT4 is also a nice car to drive, much nicer than the SCX version. I'd say Ninco are probably the best standard cars (without adjustable pods, alloy wheels, lightweight interior or slotit gears).
Is it my eyes or Internet. It looks like the camera is struggling to keep up with you. Haha Great racing, the track looks lovely to race on.
Yes it does seem to buffer albeit quickly, maybe I need to try the camera set at 720 rather than 1080. . The track is a few years old and the grip was laid down over many thousands of laps on the original surface, if you wanted to go as well as the cars do now you had to do lots of tyre prep (treatment) before racing. We painted the track two months ago with polyurethane floor paint (not the gritty stuff) and the grip is now superb with little to no tyre prep now required. . The track does close in through the chicane so you have to be careful racing wider cars especially F1's so it's best to hang back through there when overtaking.
@modelracecar I thought it got closer in the chicane. The polyurethane is the way to go for ultimate grip. I'm only pulling ya leg that footage is well good enough. A couple of my videos uploaded poorly but are clear originals. Thanks, I look forward to more.
@@Nelson-slot I got another webcam today, the plan is to film from other viewpoints. . In a few weeks I'll be doing a live stream looking at all the cars in an upcoming proxy...GT Sports Cars Slotting on SlotRacer forum slotracer.online/community/showthread.php?tid=3768

Nice video, apart the fella with the XXXL mouth keep shouting .

I guess he forgot the camera was on.
Who?
I wish we had a club like yours in my town.
It's only a small club but we're good mates of long standing and enjoy banter and good racing on club nights.
@ 7:14 the crappiest controller I've ever seen
thanks for your thoughtless comment thug 🤡 ...you know nothing about the person using it or even if there's a reason why he's using it
Exciting at the end. I forgot how close I was to passing Brian 😬

Fantastic
nice track...
It's quite an old track and modular, I think it's made by Slotfire. We started painting it at the weekend, polyurethane paint, does two jobs, seals the surface and makes the track surface grippier so tyre choice will hopefully be much easier as the current best are original NSR Ultragrips which aren't made any more.
ok, I have a Slotfire 300, but the curvy s´s are not familar, also the bridge. Looks selfmade for me... @@modelracecar
👍🏁
nice....suscribe
That first car looks fast!
Stop laughing Ed!
Awesome little beast
Yes it is, I need to get it finished, it's still in its primer, one of our club members has a deep red metallic one and looks lovely. I have too many project cars on the go to keep up really, Ford Falcon, Ford Galaxie 500, Mercedes W196, MiniSprint Racer...
What a great track layout!!!!!!
Thanks! The track on the left represents the Isle of Man TT Grandstand area (it's actually the first week of the TT starting tomorrow). That Rally stage is over 8 years old (that's how long I've been a member of this club). The other track was bought from Pendle slot, it's in 6 pieces and can be rearranged to different layouts. We bought it last year and still working on it adding bits and pieces.
@@modelracecar they are both great!!!!!!
That chair needs oiling!
Haha, the missus says that too 😆
