Exploring Maine Unhinged
Добавлен 26 фев 2021
My EXPLORING MAINE UNHINGED channel will try to take you to the 'less traveled' parts of this beautiful state. Some trips will be serene and laid back...others will be fun and a bit ridiculous. I'm here to have fun with my GoPro and my aerial camera but also to let you experience rural towns, back woods, spectacular coastline, unusual views and strange behavior. Most importantly I hope to bring you fantastic low altitude videos of everywhere I go! Your feedback is always encouraged and I look forward to hearing from you. If you have suggestions on places to visit please let me know. Enjoy and Welcome!
An amazing Alewive Fish Ladder in Damariscotta Mills, Maine!
Let's check out this amazingly beautiful 69 pool Alewive fish ladder. Come watch tens of thousands of fish up close as they try to climb up 42 feet from the salty Damariscotta River to reach the fresh water of Damariscotta Lake.
Alewives are 'anadromous' fish which means they live most of their life in sea water but return to fresh water to spawn and lay their eggs before returning back to sea. Rebuilt between 2007 and 2017, the fish ladder has been there since 1807. It's one of the interesting best kept secrets of the Maine coast.
Please share, like and comment to help me produce more of these shows. Thanks!

Old Town, Maine. A classic old paper mill town!

Old Town, Maine. Let's check out this Maine paper mill town....we will be visiting the revitalized mill along with going downtown and chatting with a couple local residents. Its a great place on the Penobscot River with a lot of history. A town that's a little bit off the beaten path but it's a classic and that's why I like it.

Let's visit a traditional Maine camp in the wild woolies of Downeast Maine...plus do a bit of sightseeing....9 miles of dirt roads and 6 miles of snowmobile trails to get there! Hold on to your snowmobile and we'll check out the Maine woods. Some friends of mine invited me for a visit to their isolated family camp this past winter and I took them up on it. I drove to Bangor and kept going north...
Reallly nice looking fishing ladder, much nicer than the one near our town in MA. Thanks for the overhead shots ( the ladder is obscured by tree leaves in satellite photos) and for sharing this story.
I spent three winters building those pools for the company I was working for. Most people have no idea how much work it took to build that ladder, all by hand.
Nice work. First pretty fish ladder I’ve seen.
Will Poore (RIP) constructed most of the ladder.
Looks like you spent some time in Milford too. Lot of history on French Island you missed
Come on back, I'll show you the rest of Old Town and Indian Island
Great vid!👍
Frank waltz took care of this place. Beautiful neighborhood my wife grew up. 84-2001.
Thanks for the great video. My wife and I really enjoyed it.
Love these videos, will you be making more? How about Jonesport and Beals, love those towns. Thanks 😊
My hometown. It’s rather depressing to see how run down it is now. Hopefully it will somehow find life again
I've been working at the old town mill close to when it reopened as ND. They have a 100 year plan to keep the mill open and operational. There's hope. I'd like to see it prosper again as well. ✌
Hi Mark. First time I saw your videos. It was nice to see my home town. Only criticism is the sketchy camera work in places.
Loved this. My father lived in Newcastle for 50+ years. Always heard about the alewives but only saw a glimpse of the ladder. This was beautifully done. Thank you.
Thank you Bobbie!
Hey Cuz! Great video. Thanks for putting it together. Watching it with Wheels. Talk soon
Brian, thanks!! It was a fun project.
Thanks! I knew what fishladders were , just never saw one. Very interesting. Maine is so beautiful!
That was a great video. Now I understand what a fish ladder is 👍🙂
Very interesting. I never heard of Alewives or fish ladders! Thank you!
👍Great promotion for the state of Maine! Beautiful!
A nice little town!
Fun, out of the way places to explore...nice!
Time to get that chip in your windshield fixed. Call Dye Team, Dan Woodrow, in Northport. Oh! Nice job on the Old Town story, my wife's old stomping grounds, she having been raised in Milford.
Thanks for watching...oh yes, that chip in the windshield. I was hoping no one would notice;)
Nice drone shots
Thanks...it's an Autel 6k Evo, great drone.
Thanks, appreciate your watching.
