The Joys of Revisiting G.K. Chesterton | Dale Ahlquist
I appreciate Dr. Ahlman's passion for what he does and his readiness to speak on it. His statement about if 80% of what you do is what you love, then it will "feel like a calling, not a job." That's true for me in motherhood and in teaching. It's still work, but it feels worthwhile and like work that you want to do. Also, leadership can be lonely, so it's encouraging to hear him say that one leader can change an entire group of people; I hope that gives hope to leaders who feel discouraged.
I’m an ex evangelical married to a Lutheran and joining this family/community has been the worst experience of my life. The lack of maturity, faith, wisdom, self reflection is astounding. But I also believe the Catholic Church is pagan at its core and Luther correctly identified it as the Antichrist in scripture. Then the Catholic Church enlisted the Jesuits to counter a lot of the reformers and now we have a big mess of half Catholicism half Protestantism.
How beautiful. What care the Lord gave to Job's friends through the suffering to Job. Quite a marvelous view of suffering.
"We are losing, but our best players aren't even in the game." Really appreciate this comment as someone who else leaned for many years more contemporary and as Husband, Father, and Lutheran Elementary school teacher is rediscovering the beauty of Lutheran Confessions, Liturgy, Hymns, Tradtions... really everything historically Lutheran is such a blessing and stands in stark contrast to the indistinct and worldly practices of the contemporary movement and evangelicalism broadly. Praying that more Pastors and leaders in our churches rediscover the importance of what makes us Lutheran and share with unmeasurable joy (as Pastor Wolfmueller advocates) the truth of God's Word. God bless your work Pastor Stecker! Appreciate you!
The method of putting a 2 or 3 year old baby in the crib and closing the door of the room because it's crying, should be qualified This is only for loving not abusive parents, reserved for parents with let say 8 or more children, it's an exception to the rule and there must be somebody else with it in the room to avoid it being afraid
In my area I am known as the “liturgical guy”, but with a smile. I am guessing that I am the wrong type of liturgical guy. Oh well. I shall continue, as God gives me breath and a congregation welcomes my presence to serve the Church as an orthodox evangelical catholic LCMS Pastor.
Thank you. God's peace be with you all.
☝️🕊️✌️
My qualm with online seminary is that it makes it much, much more difficult for the church to determine if the pastoral candidate has major character flaws that would disqualify them from ministry. Instead of many professors, and other trained clergy (such as field work and vicarage supervisors) continuously evaluating the student, he would have one person, his own pastor as the judge. I would worry that more bad characters would slip through the cracks. Edit: my second issue is pushing for programs with the LCMC and NALC when there is already an online option with the AALC, a body we are in fellowship with and are more theologically aligned with
(( YES )),, AMEN.
Gates of Hell speech only had to do with a promise. And that promise was this. If the gate of hell prevail against the church... it is because Revelation has ceased to be given to the church.
God LOVED us while we were yet sinners. Thank you LORD.
I think Pr. Ahlman should just join a typical Evangelical church. He’s a Gospel reductionist who thinks that bringing people into the church is by using man’s means and ideas. Talks about everything but God’s Word and Means of Grace. Talks and talks and talks. The usual business growth leadership talk that the world uses and yet what has he said? Nothing. Typical drivel one hears in mega weak theology type “churches”! Higher criticism didn’t work to destroy the LCMS, so now irreverence to authority, dismissing the Book of Concord with lip service and Contemporary “worship” are the new means to cause disunity within Confessional Lutheranism. God “told him”. Therefore, everyone else is wrong. That’s charismatic talk that’s used constantly. Sad…..
The “church” is Not that building you see on the side of the highway. The “church” is you. You will withstand the gates of “hell”. Whatever “hell” is. Since it was never mentioned in the original text. What it means is…the “devil” has zero control over you. God does. God is the only power. This “devil” has zero power.
Absolute fairytale bollocks
I had never heard of Tim Ahlman
There's probably a reason why.
What does "Concord" mean ??
The opposite of discord
Effectively, "as with one heart." The practice of this is effectively seeking to understand each other, so that our hearts truly are together. If there's a reason that I'm wrong, or my heart isn't in the right place, I'd want my brothers in Christ to talk to me to help me get where I need to be, that we agree as with one heart. We used to do this as the Missouri Synod; in the early conventions, there were votes that were effectively 90/10, which today we might find as an overwhelming majority, to be rejoiced over. They saw this as a sad occasion, that 10% of the brothers disagreed - and so they talked it out, so that they could all be convinced of the truth, whether the 90% was entirely right, or the 10% had a concern that did not occur to the rest. For the sake of unity around the truth, you work to agree, instead of agreeing to disagree.
Amen ❤
Something that is confusing to an outsider...why do they call tens of thousands of churches the "church." It's like saying "One body, 50,000 blood types" we say, "did you go to college" but we don't call all colleges "the college" despite colleges probably having more in common than churches do. How did we come to the presupposition that unity is possible among such a large spectrum of beliefs and practices? Is it because the leaders get their training at the same divinity schools?
We're following the example of how Luke talks in Acts 9:31: "So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied." The Church is the Body of Christ, all believers regardless of congregation. Each congregation is just a part of something bigger
@@chaselefort124 Not to mention the letters to the 7 churches in Revelation - and that's Christ Himself speaking. Each one is addressed as "the Church" but each needs its own message.
@chaselefort124 Those were branches of the same church... Like McDonalds locations. Today any and all fast food locations are somehow considered the same restaurant/organization... Burger King, Taco Bell, Chipotle... Different food, different philosophies, different leaders... Same restaurant??
@@HaleStorm49 Basically, yeah. Lutherans define the Church as all of the people who gather around God’s Word and Sacraments, whether they be Baptists in Alabama or Eastern Orthodox in Russia. Instead of fast food franchises, think about it like Alcoholics Anonymous. The congregation is a chapter of something bigger, even if there’s disagreements or divisions between groups. And you’re right, there’s an institutional side that we call “the Church” too, the institution that binds different chapters together. In that case “the Church” refers specifically to the LCMS
A rogue congregation training pastors with LCMC or NALC professors should not be tolerated. If they can’t preach in our pulpits because of their lack of fidelity to the Scriptures and the Confessions they obviously shouldn’t be teaching our preachers.
"I'm not looking to lower the academic standards" proceeds to explain for 2 hours how to lower academic standards
Agree
Things not on my bucket list, Pr. Ahlman becoming super based. Welcome to the team.
II Timothy 3:16-17 [16] All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, [17] that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. Lex orandi lex credendi

JESUS IS KING !!!!
Praise God, he is the king of light.❤ 🙏
Jeremiah 1:5, says, "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations". John 14:6, Jesus proclaimed, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Tremendous. The Lord Jesus amazes me. Thank you for sharing this conversation. Pastor Bryan suffered so greatly but praises Jesus more greatly.
As a layperson, it felt like this conversation started to bridge the divide with Catholics at times, more than I have heard before.
I don't worry about the church disappearing or being defeated or something like that, but I worry that me, my children and my grandchildren may not have a faithful, liturgica, Lutheran church to go to in a few years time
Christ Is King
Amen
One of the best discussions I’ve ever heard in my life. Wolfmeuller is a great brother in the faith! God has blessed us with him.

Thanks for making this clip- this was one of my favorite parts of the interview
Beautiful
Thank you!! This is so wonderful and so helpful for young parents.
Glad it was helpful!
Wow I had no idea Job could be interpreted this way. Gives me so much more respect for the book.
I couldn’t hold back the tears at the end. I wish my wife and I could have had a person like her in our lives. After so many mistakes I’ve made raising my now adult children, I see through her explanations that it was a lack of thankfulness on my part. And God is so merciful to us poor miserable sinners 🥹 Thank you sweet lady, thank you 🙏
Your kids are the only thing that you can expect to have in heaven with you. Wow...
Thank you. , Pastor , for this wonderful interview . I would like to hear about your family , your upbringing , and wife and children sometime .
Thank you! I’ll keep that in mind and share some of my background in a future recording.
And inspirational Christian. An incredible family that has impacted so many. God bless you Dort. May there be many more whom bear the name Preus and become fishers of men.
I love how Christ centered this family is--living in love and forgiveness is what makes them so close. They enjoy each other and had awesome training in the catechism and Scripture.
I love this interview too!
She’s an amazing woman! And what an inspiration to these young moms!
Hi Mom!!! ❤
