Sub Urban Diy Guy
США
Добавлен 13 окт 2015
Hello youtubers! This channel is about all things do-it-yourself. I have trouble finding the exact video to help me do the repairs and jobs I need to do around the house, so I figured I'd start making some videos to help those who might have the same issues I do. You might end up seeing videos in this channel about home repair, remodeling, welding, metal work, car and truck repair, plumbing, photography, shooting sports, fishing, hunting, who knows? Hopefully on a weekly basis. I also hope you'll check out my newsletter, Sub Urban Diy Guy Monthly. I hope to be of some help, maybe with some humor and strong opinions mixed in. Enjoy!

Take a ride through Moscow over one night into the next morning to St. Basil's Cathedral on a cold wet day in October 2003.
Purchase thermostat and housing on Amazon: amzn.to/3NDZaXB
The design, in my opinion. Is all about money! Where with other makes they get you in other ways to get into your pockets. Again this is my opinion and maybe not others.
good lord, I hope I am good enough with tools to do this tomorrow. thanks for showing us all this. Can't get my truck into the shop for over a week (they are backlogged), and I need my truck to get to work (over an hour drive to my job). Crossed fingers this is my ONLY problem that needs my attention.
I'm thinking of converting the engine in my 2004 and 2012 Ram trucks to a small block Chevy (maybe 350) and end the madness.
"Radiator fluid"😄😄 Odd to complain about "wasting coolant" and yet you don't mind wasting money buying a new housing when there's probably nothing wrong with the old housing.😅😅
Thank you for this amazing video
Well I thank you for the video learned something I didn't do when I changed mine out. I'll never own another dodge truck again and I got 2 of em
Glad to help
@@suburbandiyguy661 does it also use the paper gasket ?
I'm getting ready to do mine here in about a hour and wanted to find a reference vid to assure my game was on point. This is my 1st Dodge truck and it's an 02 15,4.7. Now is there no drain plug on the radiator? I always drain from that access n then when she's about done I gently rock the vehicle BK n forth swooshing as much fluid out as my 16" python's can endure. If there's a cap on top hit that 1st to get a good fluid draw. Hose time, housing time.Praying the 1.5" thread's screwed into the Bloch are not seized. Here's a tip for everyone and I'm sure 20% of you already do it buy some PB blaster and hit every bolt the night before with a good spray to help lubricate and loosen while you play video games or sleep BBQ whatever you got going on. You'll thank me later let's keep the stress levels down on our fellow men we all go through hell and bust our asses with little acknowledgement. Wait a minute we're working on a car here. Yeah this bottom housing is the same way on my Civic so I'm doing one or two, but I don't know what the little nipple is on the actual thermostat what is that for? Not the gasket, the actual thermostat perimeter lil nipple guy. Does that help with something Important? Going to watch 2nd half of the video meow
Drivers side bottom of radiator, it's a plastic 18mm bolt head
Lol loved your video and couldn't agree with you more about the location of the thermostat. At first I was thinking it didn't have a thermostat then I found your video. My heat is not hot at all so I'm hoping changing it will fix it.
If you don't have heat, it could be the damper doors inside the cab. Another great dodge engineering feat.
Thanks bro watching your video fixed my truck!
put a 180 degree thermostat wayyy better . got 422,000 miles on my hemi never rebuilt and still going strong.. with the 180 in it.
I agree. All car engineers should be required to work on their designs before they are distributed to the public. Either that or they need to have trained mechanics do the engineering. So many bonehead designs on cars nowadays.
Your right!!!! Dodge is stupid. I owned one at one time.
Thanks for including the part about bleeding the system I had no idea
Yeah I did this last year..didnt know to bleed, had cold heat all winter..doing it again
If you are replaceing the turbo on a Chevy duramax theres one 10mil bolt on the back of the turbo that you HAVE TO lift the whole damb cab 5 inches just to get one bolt out. All automotive companys have a retarded streak of shit in their blood once you have worked on them all. Ford is the "exception" they are the nastiest cars or trucks to work on and Lord have mercy if your ford (pos) has wiring issues- if not now you most certianly will soon enuf . Ford = Henrys Revenge. God Bless America!!!
They are evil, and maniacs...
rumor has it Fiat Chrysler pays their RnD employes 12hr lol
Helped me thank you bud
Thx man
Is their a reason why you use distilled water?
Other water has minerals in it that can eventually clog things up.
Also those minerals react and are more corrosive than distilled. The oxidation creates the particulates that can interfere with tstat.
Try owning a Ford 4 cylinder...that is a joke every bit of it
The only thing I disagree with is the antifreeze...worked on Mercedes for years as well as other model cars and trucks. We used the cheapest stuff we could find and never had a problem with whatever is supposed to happen if you use the wrong stuff............just sayin"
I don't know why everyone complains about everything Dodge does. They are easy to work on. I had a 95 Ford mustang once that had constant coolant problems, brake problems and a speedo that took a dump at 70k as well as a blown head gasket and broken timing chain- garbage. It's good practice to change your coolant when you do a thermostat or vv. My 02 has been better to me in 130k than any of the others I've had. To each their own I guess.
Thx 4 The Video.
YW
memories ))) ochen horosho!
What I didn't understand was why waste your time wrestling with the hose when you could have just unbolted the housing to begin with? Also, you spent more time whining when all manufacturers have stupid things. Ford has more recalls than all others and so forth. And no matter how many times you complain it's not making a difference. Deal with it or get another truck! And the bleed bolt is an Allen not a hex. Just saying
He said he wasn't sure if the housing was cracked, that's why genius.
when u were bleeding it did you have the car on or dis u also have the heater on...im having the same problem changed everything u did but I have heat I think I still have air in my system
Yes. I had the heat on and the truck running. You need it to pressure up. It will get hot, so be careful.
Thanks for the video! Going to tackle it tomorrow.
I noticed touch had a gasket for the housing, so you need the new gasket on the thermostat AND the gasket on the housing?
BRAIN FART!! @ 8:12
You should have seen the ones I edited out!
👍👍
Thanks for sharing. Doing the exact same for my son's 02 Ram today. 👍
Its not a big deal really, just kind of a pain in the butt because of the way Dodge designed it. You'll knock it out in no time.
Sub Urban Diy Guy absolutely, finished it in about 20 minutes. Appreciate ya.
@@suburbandiyguy661 what brand of thermostat did you buy ? Hear that aftermarket are no good
thanks ...but I would have put on a new hose!
They were less than 9 months old. I had already put a new radiator and hoses in. The leak at the thermostat didn't develop until almost a year later.
You can store Fuel in a poly tank for 6 months to a year maximum with fuel stabilizer.
