Given DE is east of the Mason Dixon, it is a NE. Those who don't are lacking in Geography. And yes I get that the Census Bureau calls DE a southern state, but the most populated area of DE is extremely northern. Also DE is not a commonwealth, there are 4 in the nation and they are Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Virginia, and Massachusetts

Army-ECU is a great conference matchup and living near Fort Liberty (Bragg) it’s a win-win attendance wise here in NC going forward.

Sure, the triple option is an effective offense for undersized OL, & limited skill QB’s. However, because of the undersized OL, Paul Johnson, & then Ken Niamatololo, (especially him) utilized the ‘Cut blocking’ technique so his OL could find a way to try to block much larger DL. It’s dangerous, and should be banned. Navy in particular has been guilty of injuring opposing DL with this tactic, & it’s a shitty way to conduct business. I have as much respect as anyone from the Service Academies, and thank them for their service. And I know I’ll get a lot of blowback…’ That’s not true! It doesn’t happen’ but it’s a well known fact.
@@Willie_McBride fair enough. As a Service Academy fan and graduate it pains me to hear there is a reputation of shady tactics with cut blocks. With that logic though, wouldn’t it be fair to ban tackles where players launch themselves at players lower body? I also think cut blocking was more about angles as slot backs often used the tactic. I appreciate you listening and this conversation. God bless you!
@@HardwarePod I believe it is a penalty for a would be tackler to launch himself at the lower body of a ball carrier. And I hate talking smack about the service academies, as I said I have a ton of respect for them. But as a Notre Dame fan, back in the early-mid 2000’s it SEEMED like there was a stretch of 5 or 6 years straight that ND DL were getting injured playing against Navy due to that style of OL blocking. My memory may be inflating the amount of injuries. It could have been 2 or 3 years, but then the fear of it happening was present all the time.
I just subscribed to your channel
3:29 - They couldn't build a proper platform for that camera, so, they put a pickup truck next to the field for leverage? What if a player barreled into the truck? I don't think a player would come out of such a collision with just some scratches.
The American should add a few more teams. If I could add 4 to get to 18 I would get Appalachian State, James Madison, Old Dominion and Georgia State. Since Army is football only, get VCU for all sports to mirror Wichita State.
FIRST VIEW FIRST LIKE LETS GO
Nobody wanted to see Army vs Navy in Louisiana
Is that why this Neb @ Hawaii game seems to have been broadcast by a local Hawaii TV station since no networks took the game? I just watched part of that game and it appears a local Hawaii outfit did the broadcast. I remember listening to that game until 2am back in Nebraska as a child sweating that one out! :)
Yes I believe the NCAA didn’t regulate local broadcasts as much! That’s so awesome that you listens to that game live! I was surprised to learn Hawaii put up a fight like that!
@@HardwarePod This is actually incorrect. The NCAA went to great lengths to regulate local broadcasts. Teams could not show games on television live; that's why there was that Supreme Court ruling in 1984. And, yes, that includes games in Hawaii. This is somewhat confusing because the NCAA allowed more than one station to air games starting in 1982 (for the first time ever), and because everything changed after that June 1984 Supreme Court ruling.
@@danielevensen5539 that is true. After doing research after publishing this video I found a story where the NCAA took a TV appearance away from Temple when they did not have a waiver for a local TV broadcast.
@@HardwarePod I'm making a video on the subject (football on television before the 1984 Supreme Court decision) at the moment - should come out tomorrow on one of my other channels. That's how I found your video, lol. I took a closer look. The Honolulu papers report that this game was broadcast locally on tape delay. I'm not sure when it was broadcast in Nebraska; I'm guessing it was on Sunday due to the time difference. It's really bizarre, by the way. It's hard to imagine a world where there was only one college football game on television on an entire Saturday.

Will y’all be talking about the Isthmus Bowl?
We sure can schedule it!
Champions of the CIAA & SIAC will have to chose playoffs or Beach Bowl.... can't do both, hence a second place team may be playing in the Beach Bowl!
I would not mind! The more bowls the better in my opinion!
Omar on Anthony Richardson=cold
I tell it how I see it, Mr Danner! 😂
Tua! Should have won Heisman
And there could be a interesting non HBCU school but also isn't a PWI thats looking to be D1 that the MEAC could be interested in. Its UNPB (University Of North Carolina Pembroke) which is a Historical American Indian University (AI/AN). I wonder if that would be a interesting addition to the MEAC.
I agree. Even Chowan, who competed in the CIAA makes sense!
Has the MEAC considered Benedict College as a Top Prospect for expansion whos in Columbia, South Carolina (and in state rivals with South Carolina State), also possibly West Virginia State and Bluefield State University as a pair (Both in West Virginia HBCUs), and Kentucky State.
I think what be a progressive idea is having conversations with the IVY League and Pioneer League (Since they want to go back to having a bowl). In having more postseason bowl options for schools. The SWAC,MEAC,IVY League and Pioneer League can definitely create a Bowl season similar to fbs, where outside of conference Champions the top 3 schools from each conference (record has to be .500 or better to be bowl eligible) play each other in a Bowl game (payouts between 300k to 500k) . The Celebration Bowl will still be there (,Between the SWAC and MEAC Conference Champions). And the Pioneer League wants to bring the Gridiron Bowl Back which can be Between the Pioneer League Champion and IVY League . The IVY and Pioneer are trying to find options for schools that had a good season but didn't win there conference.
I agree! They could have it during Army-Navy week so it does not conflict with finals. It would also give networks like The CW valuable TV network inventory
Army to the AAC makes a ton of sense. I wouldn't add anybody else right now. If the ACC gets ripped apart like the Pac-12 did, the ACC may be forced to do a merger with the AAC to keep their numbers high enough to keep the media deal with ESPN intact.
Remember the Delaware fans were awesome when JMU used to play them! Hope they can move up to FBS!
Me too! We need more Northeast FBS teams!
Great podcast! As the parent of a current blue hen, was great listen. -- MattyWaters
Thanks Matty! I would love to see them go FBS!
Would love Army in the AAC. As an ECU alum that lives near Fort Bragg (Liberty) two hours away from campus that game would be huge in this area. A ton of military families and veterans in NC. I would support UMass joining too along with Appalachian State and VCU for basketball and other sports (like Wichita State). NC has a lot of people moving here from the Northeast so adding a program like UMass would work.
I agree! ECU also being a former C-USA opponent of Army helps. I would love to play Charlotte at Bank of America at some point too. I think the AAC will be a weaker basketball league so getting UMass may be a tough sell. But having the AAC be some semblance of a Northeastern conference is good for college sports
@@HardwarePodUMass helps definitely in the basketball area along with being a northeast school close to Temple. Not much but more of a pleasing addition alongside Army.
@@charleswebsterjr.6350 I agree! But UMass basketball has been in decline. So has Temple so the AAC may not want to add UMass to keep Temple happy
Fantastic Video
Thank you!!!

Nice work guys.
Now why Philly didn't air it in the first place it was tape delayed
No idea. They just did not plan good enough. Thanks for watching!
Penn State did not win the national championship in 1994. Nebraska finished first in both the AP and Coaches.
I wish I could find this game televised. I was a Keydet at the time. I was asked to be the mascot for the 2nd semester but was graduating in December. I did appear in the game though. In addition to the Keydets Kangaroo and the Cadets Bulldog mascots, there was a 3rd figure and no one knew why. GUMBY. A bunch of us decided to see if we could put a Gumby character in the game so we wrote and I even called Art Clokey, the owner/inventor of Gumby and Pokey and got permission to appear on national tv as long as we did not make money on it. We did it for fun. We got permission from VMI and made the costume out of a couple old mattresses and bedsheets dyed green. I was slender and in shape and still lost 10 pounds in that foam costume. The kangaroo and I beat the Bulldog up and won off the field even if we lost on the field. My parents heard I would be on tv and hosted a party to watch, not knowing what I would be doing. The sportscaster finally asked 'why is Gumby down there?'. My mom realized who was in the suit and started laughing and told everyone to look closely. Yup it was me. lol. I kept that costume for years and wore it to a lost of parties.
Best of luck Omar- Pat
Thanks Pat!
Wait a minute. Isn't it illegal to use the phrase "brought to you by" on a PBS telecast?
They say “thanks to viewers like you. Thank you.” Right?
@@HardwarePod that is true these days but what about
the reference to Hartford Insurance as the sponsor instead of the "underwriter" or "made possible by a grant from"?
@@ricknibert6417 I can try to find more newspapers, but I believe that PBS allowed for only 15 minutes or so of ad space for these broadcasts. I think it was a special exception
Excellent podcast
Thank you so much! That means a lot! Please subscribe! It helps our channel a lot. Have a blessed day!
Haven't paid too much attention to UTEP or New Mexico State but I know their football programs have been steadily good for a g5 school. If they joined the Mountain West there would be so much history with a lot of teams and the rivalry with the lobos. Basketball is a plus and I know what UTEP and New Mexico State are capable of. NMS seems to be on a good pace for football and UTEP seems to be ok going 12-12 the past 2 seasons. If both teams can string together 2 more seasons with at least 6 or 7 wins with the addition of winning a bowl game I'd gladly take them for the Mountain West.
I agree with you except on the point of New Mexico State. I would like to see more consistency from them in football before I mark them as a great football addition. In college sports today, having a large membership in a geographically condensed footprint is a huge win for any conference. So no matter how good or bad UTEP is, I see these additions as a must if Fresno State or San Diego State leave.
@@HardwarePod I agree NMS needs to prove themselves a bit more. With both teams having history and rivalries with Mountain West teams I think if NMS and UTEP proved themselves most fans would be happy. I kinda also see them as a two for one in terms of their market. Since UTEPs market is decent and NMS market is even smaller the fact that they're so close makes me look at them as one giant market. Especially if you consider Albuquerque to El Paso and everything in between would all be in the Mountain West. That can kind of make Albuquerque more interested in watching the Lobos. Either way I hope both New Mexico State and UTEP can keep winning because I'd love them in the Mountain West!
In order for Tennessee State to join the MEAC there would probably need to be another school to help with travel costs. Virginia State should move up to the MEAC immediately. If Chicago State adds football I would definitely consider adding them, although I believe the Pioneer League would be much better for them. I wish UMES would add football back, I heard they were adding W Beach Volleyball, maybe that is a hint to them trying. I would also look at adding more Associate Members, they have 3, NCAT, UAB, and Monmouth. Adding more could help bring in revenue to the member schools.
That’s a good point, but travel can’t be that bad for Tennessee State in the MEAC right? The furthest trip being from the Maryland schools and Delaware State doesn’t seem as bad as when FAMU and BCC were in the conference. But another school to make a pair of additions would be a great move
@@HardwarePod I think the travel is more of a problem to schools like South Carolina State, UMES, and Coppin State. Who have a problem with their budgets as is.
@@colincuratolo1645 that’s a good point. So I don’t think traveling to Nashville is too bad for Sough Carolina State, but the Mid Atlantic schools will struggle a bit
If the Meac adds Chicago State in the future what about Central State in Ohio being that travel partner for CSU I don't know Central State athletics budget situation but maybe they can get donations from Ohio sports natives LeBron James etc to move to D1
I think we should push the Celebration Bowl back closer to the FCS/ FBS National title games since the Celebration Bowl is the HBCU National title game and you have a 8 team HBCU playoffs to crown a true champion for D1 Swac/ Meac conference champs are guaranteed the top 2 seeds by winning their leagues then 3-8 at large teams
Hey! Huge fan of your channel! I'd love to contact you but couldn't find your email address anywhere. What's the best way to reach you? I've got something you might be interested in and would love to work with you!
Why isn't West Chester University a stronger candidate for the NEC? They have football and aren't as remote as LeMoyne.
That’s a great option. Another Pennsylvania schools would do wonders in keeping St. Francis happy
