Choosing The Right Fly Method

I started out with a sinking tip leader on a floating line, the conditions seemed to point toward that choice. But in the end I changed it up and got better results. #flyfishing #chewvalley #sinkingtip #hopper
Finally A Fish!

A drop in water temperature and the small matter of 4,000 fish released from the nets at Chew Valley Lake results in a fish after several blanks. #flyfishing #rainbowtrout #chewvalleylake
Is It Too Windy To Fish? - Useful Free App
Просмотров 3 тыс.5 лет назад
Really useful free app, ideal for flyfishing. Using the free Windy App, I'm able to check for when it's a day to go fishing. Wind speed, direction, barometric pressure and precipitation all shown. As a left hander, wind direction is pretty critical for me, so I can figure out if its worth going before I make the trip - although it sadly cant predict whether I'll catch! #flyfishing #windy.app #c...
How To Tie Fly Dropper Knots The Easy Way
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.5 лет назад
Up early to fish, sadly not early enough to catch - it was a bit too bright methinks. But I'll show you how to tie dropper knots the easy way. As well as how to stop kinks in the hook knot when using flourocarbon line.
Fly Fishing On A Hot Day At Chew Valley Lake
Просмотров 7 тыс.5 лет назад
Chew Valley Lake is equi-distant between Bristol and Bath, - its a man made reservoir well stocked with rainbow and brown trout. Very reasonably priced for a day or evening pass. (around £20). Average size is 2-3lb with larger fish regularly caught (my pb is 5.2lb) In this visit, in late July, (around 4pm) it was hot and bright, but the Red Diawl Bachs strike again using a washing line pattern ...
Do you not like playing them on the reel ?
Ba chhhhh not back ;)
Wish I could take you to the remote lakes in Utah and Nevada for a fishing extravaganza..... and there's no lake fees, just licence fees..... rainbows, bull trout, and the occasional brown.....
A 1pounder would feel good on a little 6weight rod and line !!!!!!
Do you use barbless flies ????
Have you stopped fishing there or just stopped making vids? Keep them coming! Thanks for sharing and I look forward to watching the rest tomorrow.
Nice vid. My home water but I rarely have enough in the wallet or space in the freezer to fish it. I should fish it more though.
Hi what leader do you use looks very thick? Maybe just the camera but if not try and use a thinner fluorocarbon say 6 or 8llb fulling mill or wychwood both at the cheaper end and not the thinest but thin enough.
8lb flouro is my preferred
War way sound talking very clear..
8,9 weight forward ?
7 weight forward
nice catch!!
So this is the new channel mentioned on sonicstate :) good stuff Nick. When landing though you should really be reeling in and playing him in. Fellow synth head and fly fisherman in Eire ;) anyway tight lines to you!
I think hand lining is acceptable? Easier to control trying to get it all on the spool is a lot of hassle
@@onthefly9300 of course if your comfortable, stick with it but it's easier to play a big trout/salmon using the reel and also if your fishing from a boat. Anyway tight lines for the season ahead, looking forward to superbooth home!!
Great sing song harmonics as the line hits the water. Great video!
Interesting set up, I've never seen that way of tying a dropper before. You said you found it on in internet, does the knot have name as it was a bit difficult to see it on the video. May well give it a go. Thanks
I found out about this listening to sonic talk, enjoyed this because it's not like other fishing shows where it's about showing off, but rather helpful information - good work Nick! Also fishing is like that everywhere, one minute you catch plenty the next there's nothing for weeks on end in the same spot.
needs more bass
You're Nick from sonicstate. Feels like you're cheating on us all back in the dark room mate.
I thought I'd show support lol
Bugger! Was hoping you'd catch a bass monster today
Any chance of a Carp Oddysey review please Nick?
😂 oh no let the pun...ting begin😂 whos perching on the fence?
Great to see you outdoors too, Nick! I have no clue about fishing, but I'm suspecting I'll learn quite a bit from your new channel :-) Thanks for all your great shows and inspiring videos!
BTW, maybe some future Fun friday's melodies can make an epic flyfishing soundtrack one day..
And maybe some synthesizer or musical-comparisons would do great to educate the non-fishing ppl. Maybe flyfishing0 vs polefishing(?) is like analog and digital synthesizers? :-p
Thanks for the comments folks!
