I know the reverse of this very well where the characters hit boxes only one pixel big

Looks like a skill issue to me. If the fish thingy moves, its hitbox should move. But maybe that's just me
@@Sparkodox yea, though a lot of speed runners were messed up by it’s inconsistency
@@croyangi I don't see what's inconsistent.. It bobs up and down at a steady pace and if hitbox follows that motion, then it's the textbook definition of consistency. Literally speaking, it's less consistent having a hitbox not move with its visuals. But I understand where speedrunners are coming from. They just want the hitbox go be in the same place relative to the map layout at all times so their movement can be min-maxed as much as possible.. I just don't agree with that concept :/
Meanwhile, games like I Wanna Be The Guy: A single pixel of yours touched the spike? Bam, bloody fireworks.

@@croyangi Not as far as I know, my experience with them is very frustrating and inconsistent bounces. Though most modded maps force them in place to avoid it

Question: how would you make the smaller spike hitboxes when using tilesets in unity? Assigning a sprite collider to my tiles is quick and easy but it makes for gross overbloated hitboxes.
@@SPICYham I don’t use tile sets, rather I use my own GameObject and snap it to the grid. I recommend not using a sprite collider unless the spikes sprites are tiny.
