That skirt looks gorgeous on you!
@@chippy1948 thank you!
Love the skirt and top combo. Look forward to seeing your makes. I have become quite a fan of Pattern Emporium patterns. Just ordered a couple of t-shirts in the Black Friday offer, including the Keep it Simple. I love a bit of linen - my Itch to Stitch Upland Trousers are very comfortable in a navy linen mix from Pound Fabrics. I don't normally batch cut - it would make me feel a bit twitchy with too much stuff to do. I've done two items in a batch, but I have a good sewing space with a big table so it's no issue to do things individually. I'm just browsing all the Black Friday fabric sales and I have just snagged a bargain on Fabworks with some 100% wool for £8 a metre - fabric of the month. It's a lovely blue/black subtle check. That will probably be a coat using the same pattern as one I (almost) have in progress with some very expensive fabric I bought from Fabworks last year.
Thank you! My black linen is from Pound Fabrics 😊
Christmas things going on! Batch cutting is easier 😊
It really is! One you've got all your cutting equipment set up is a breeze to cut out several items!
Great pants! Hope to see you model all your makes!!!😅
I hope so too! I'd best get stitching haha!
Love the Style Arc ❤
Probably my favourite pattern company!
Great wardrobing !!!❤
Thank you! 😊
Do those pencil skirts not ride up as you walk?
@@karolmolpus9536 they don't ride up, no. I'm not sure what would cause that, sorry!
Snow already! What area are you in? 38* here in South Carolina USA 🇺🇸 this Friday morning!
@@karolmolpus9536 I'm in Derbyshire in the UK, we've had snow all over the country this week!
Let me know in the comments below what you're up to sewing wise this week!
Great save!
Awww thank you! I've already worn the jacket loads!
I'm so sorry that there were so many problems with the live, it just goes to show how difficult life streaming actually is! Anyway, if you'd like to donate in any way, here's the link to Sew Over It's just giving page: www.justgiving.com/page/thebigsewoff2024
Aww I would have loved to have join you but we are currently away on holiday. Good luck ❤
Thank you Carole! Hope you're enjoying your holiday! xo
I'd love you to join me at 2pm tomorrow! Grab your pattern, fabric, scissors and a nice big cuppa and get ready to sew with me all in aid of the UK mental health charity, Mind ❤
Great fabrics and patterns! Looking forward to makes!!!
Ah thank you! 😊
For your Teifi, the grey looks very practical, but the pink looks more fun! I'm going to make mine in navy ponte to go over the Pattern Emporium Wanderlust dress I've just made. I also like the Delphine. I didn't know that Style Arc gave away bonus patterns. Thanks for the info. I've now subscribed to their newsletter and also to your channel.
@@yellowfuchsia1 oh thank you so much for subscribing, that's lovely of you! I still don't know which fabric to choose: grey for safety or pink for dopamine!!
@SewYourselfaCapsuleWardrobe Why not make both?
That's a good idea! I'll definitely be making more than one... ❤️
The Grey for me but all of those fabrics would look great in the cardigan
I'm leaning towards the grey too!
I fancied the Cassia knit top, but I really have enough hoodie/pullover/sweatshirt type patterns to last me a lifetime! I did get the Deba Topper pattern when it was introduced as that will come in quite useful as a light cover-up, but resisted the Teifi jacket, as again I have a few similar patterns. I love the black with small spots fabric. Look forward to seeing what you decide to use.
@@Yorkygirl59 I'm glad it's not just me with a pattern obsession! I'm going to have to stop buying patterns in the new year I think! Well, I say that, but.. 🤷♀️ haha
@@SewYourselfaCapsuleWardrobe And fabrics! I started to try and use my stash up but then 'needed' some more warm fabrics for autumn/winter makes! Hey ho!
Look at it this way, we're keeping the fabric retailers in business 😆
Which fabric should I use first for my new jacket? I'd love your input!
Oh that colour is gorgeous on you and I think your second choice of use for the fabric will be a more wearable. I have a couple of ponchos but tend to wear them around the house when I'm cold 😂. Re the pockets, I like to make the pockets in a kind of split fabric. The first inch in the outer layer then the rest in the lining fabric. I just split the pattern piece. That way if the pocket gapes a bit you can't see the lining as the first inch is the outer fabric. (Do you get what I mean?!😂 I did it on my recent jacket ). I also do it on skirts. I'm sure you've done this before but just in case you haven't. 😊. Thanks for such a great review ❤ x
@@socarole66 thank you so much! I don't think the poncho was my aesthetic at all sadly, the jacket is much more 'me' 😊😊 Ah yes, I see what you mean about the pocket linings! I'm not a huge fan of pockets so I was more than happy to chuck them into the bin tbh 😆😆 x **On a side note - Carole has a fabulous sewing channel so if you're looking for another channel to subscribe to, then Carole is your lady!
Love your jacket, so cosy, colourful and smart.❤
@@trudyberry3267 thank you so much! I really enjoyed making it and love wearing it 💕
Great save for the jacket fabric. Looks really cosy and warm. I have purchased a few Style Arc patterns, mainly tops and a dress, but haven't got round to making any up yet. Might have to give one a try soon.
Aww thank you 😊 You should definitely give Style Arc a go!
Would you like to see more pattern review videos on my channel? Please let me know what you think!
I would LOVE more pattern reviews.
Thanks for the great review 😁 I was thinking of making it but I didn’t like the attached scarf but since u’ve done it so well I’m sure I can too 😁 so thank u for the inspiration 🥰 xx
Ah you're very welcome! The scarf is separate so can be omitted from the jacket very easily 😊
Hi. I purchased a while ago the Laura Dress but can’t find my download. I tried responding the email i was sent but it came back undeliverable. Is there any way i can get the pattern?
@@noelahchoy9450 Hi there, I messaged a lady named Janine through the YouMake shop on Etsy although this was several months ago now so may not be the best method of contact today. The Facebook group stays current with contact details, etc I hope you manage to get your pattern downloaded!
I have been very impressed with Love Notions patterns. They are brilliant value, have loads of options and the instructions are excellent. I added the Duet trousers, Encore skirt and Barrington Tee to my account last week and now have over 40 patterns in my account! Many have still not been sewn up, but some favourites have been made multiple times! Look forward to seeing what you make with your latest patterns.
Oooh great choices! I'm currently debating whether to mash a couple of LN patterns together for a winter tunic - so many possibilities! 💕
You've got some great pieces there and I like the look of the Barrington Tee. I was convinced I bought something from the sale and have just searched all my emails to no avail 😂. On checking PayPal I realised it was an Itch To Stitch pattern as they had a sale as well 🤣. I really am getting old!! Thanks so much for showing us your patterns ❤
Ahhh Carole that's something I'd do too! Btw I spent my weekend making my mum a pair of pyjamas and couldn't help thinking of you while I was sewing them up 😆😆
Great stash - I have made quite a few Love Notions patterns (just made the Juliet tshirt and it turned out well.) As someone else mentioned I probably have enough patterns to last a lifetime and the Australian dollar is so weak against the US it was still expensive. Having said that I did buy another Itch to Stitch pattern as they also had a sale so not as strong as I thought I was!! Looking forward to your patterns being made up.
Haha, I'm glad you were able to add to your stash though! Happy Sewing! xo
I love Love Notions patterns. I have quite a few..I have made the Coda jacket, La Bella Donna, Rhapsody blouse, Aria shirt, Classic tee. I think they are great patterns. I want to try the Barrington tee and the Aurora dress next.
Oooh some good patterns and choices there!!
I missed the sale, I really have enough patterns that will last me a lifetime, but I have a code from their FB page to get the Classic Tee for free. I may also get the course, as it's free. I didn't get on with the Laundry Day Tee - I made one and it was such a bad fit across the upper bust that I've not bothered again. I have a few other LN patterns, and I do like the La Bella Donna - I've made a few of those in various styles. I have the Octave Coat, and I hope to get that made up soon (bought some lovely wool last year and never got round to making it).
I'm hoping that I can sew both the Classic tee and the new Barrington boxy top to see how they compare! I got the free tee shirt course too as I wanted to see what the courses were like 😊😊
I can't wait to try the Barrington tee (and to see how it compares with the Classic tee!) Let me know in the comments below if you bought any LN patterns or courses in their sale last week ❤
Your autumn plans are fantastic and well planned, as usual❤. I love the sweater color and I think it is perfect with your complexion, so do go on with it, as it will be a stunning addition to your color scheme. I would opt for the plain buttons. They come across as a perfect marriage of style and color for your jacket, as your jacket has sophisticated lines and those buttons will keep it versatile and understated. I always enjoy your videos. Your work is so well thought out and I admire your capacity to follow through on your projects. Please keep giving us inspiration! Best wishes for a lovely autumn ! Suzanne 😊
Thank you so, so much for your lovely comment! I did go with the plain buttons and I've worn the jacket a couple of times already - I feel so smart in it! I've also knitted one sleeve of the sweater so it will be completed very soon I hope 😊😊
👏🏻👗
😊😊
Wow, you are super organized. Looking forward to seeing your makes. I love the plain buttons. Very cute, cozey jacket.
Thank you so much! I find that I have to be organised otherwise I end up making garments on a whim that either don't fit into my seasonal wardrobe or that I won't wear; I can then spend my limited sewing time making garments to fill gaps in my existing wardrobe 😊😊
Plain button.
Thank you!!
I love your Autumn Winter plans, you always choose the best patterns to suit a stylish mature woman like myself, from pattern companies that I love. I think the plain buttons would work better on your jacket, more versatile because you could always dress your outfit up more with jewellery if needed or wear it more casually with the plain buttons. ❤
Awww thank you, that's so kind of you! That's a really good idea about the jacket, I hadn't thought of it that way!
Also your jacket is so beautiful - go with the plain.
Having seen the jacket with both sets of buttons in the video (when I watched it back) I think that plain are better!
Wow - so many beautiful fabrics! Looking forward to your projects. You are so organised - at the moment we are coming into summer in Australia but still in spring so weather still all over the place so my sewing plans are a bit chaotic.
Awww thank you! We seem to have gone straight into cool weather in the UK so I'm wearing long sleeved tops and jeans already, brrr!!
Some great plans there. I have just decided to tackle autumn/winter makes (late to the party as usual!) but I don't have many warm fabrics in my stash, so what's a girl to do? That's right - order some fabric! Spent a fortune yesterday ordering fleece backed french terry and other snuggly fabrics. Of course hubby decided to pitch in and place an order with me for another cardigan. I rarely see any good fabrics in my local Boyes. I am making (still!) my Itch to Stitch Upland trousers with linen/cotton blend from Pound Fabrics. I've lost my sew-jo a little these past two or three weeks. I prefer the plain buttons for your jacket. I did have a coat planned for this winter (as I didn't get it done last winter!!) using some lovely wool from Fabworks and I don't think I can get a machine buttonhole in that, so I was intending to make a bound buttonhole, but I like your idea of the popper. Look forward to seeing everything come to fruition.
Aww thank you! It's always a bit hit and miss in Boyes I think, and our local branch in Matlock has stopped selling fabric 🙁 I'm trying not to buy fabric this year unless I absolutely need it; the thing is, I thought I needed a replenishment for autumn and winter but I probably could have got by on what I bought last year!! Oh well... haha! Hope the sew-jo returns for you! xo
What do you have planned for Autumn/Fall? I'd love to know!
Love all of your picks - I made some bound to bee tshirt and like the bounding around the chest. Looking forward to your finished projects. It is getting to summer in Australia so looking forwaard to sewing for the warmer weather.
Awww thank you so much! I'm looking forward to making the mock turtle neck version 😊
Oh I do love seeing what patterns you buy and quite often you tempt me over to the dark side of Indies 😂 I do love the look of the Goldie skirt, I rarely wear them but that is the style that I lean to, like you say with tights and boots. Thanks so much for sharing ❤
Ah you're very welcome Carole! I think we both have a similar type of style as I always like your makes too! I'm definitely a 'no frills' kind of girl 😆
Hi very interesting video! I'm in love with love Notions, but also many other patterns you showed were very interesting! I will probably make a top with mock neckline soon as well but I'll use the Jackson tee from Helen's closet (I own it already 😅). I own the Crescendo pattern as well and would love to see your next one ☺️ I really enjoy your videos, voice and accent 😊 Greetings from Italy! By the way, Tami is Love Notions owner and designer and Tessa is her sister and Marketing director ☺️
Ah, thanks so much for clearing that up as I was unsure who was who! I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video, thank you so much for dropping by ❤️ I can't wait to make up a couple more pairs of jeans to see how they compare 😊😊 xo
Is the Ethel for knits or women’s? It is cute!
Hi there, I've just checked for you - it's for wovens; pattern suggests washed linen, crepe or silk. Hope that helps! 😊
I’ve just made my first pair of Crescendo Jeans and I love them! The front pockets are actually like a kangaroo pocket. My only issue is that I think the ponté I used for the pocket lining is a little too thick, so I can see where the pocket lining ends when I’m wearing them. It’s not a problem because I always wear tops that cover my stomach anyway. Super comfortable, and will be making a straight leg version as soon as I can find a fabric I like. Quick note: because of the style of the pocket, it gives a bit of tummy control too 😁
Oooh that's a really useful review, thank you! I'm guessing that you could use power mesh for extra tummy control? I can definitely see a pair of Crescendo jeans in my near future! Happy Sewing! xo
@@SewYourselfaCapsuleWardrobe the lining fabric needs to have the same stretch as the main fabric ☺️ They’re quite a snug fit.
I use a lot of Love Notions and Pattern Emporium patterns. They always come with lots of options, great instructions and are amazing value. I also like seeing their tester garments as they show sewists of all ages and sizes actually wearing the garment in real life. My other favourite companies are Itch to Stitch (who offer cup sizes) and Sinclair Patterns (who offer height files!) Just found you so have subscribed. Look forward to seeing the Cresendo jeans and Larrgo Cargo trousers made up and your thoughts. I have both patterns and they are on my autumn sewing list.
Awww thank you so much for subscribing! I've made up quite a few of the Pattern Emporium patterns too, my absolute favourite is the Keep It Simple top (I'm actually wearing it under my cardigan in the video haha!) I will definitely report back on the Largo Cargos and Crescendo jeans! Happy sewing! xo
Love your colour palette! I call them my happy colours!👍💜🇦🇺
Oh I Love that! I'm a Bright Winter so I need lots of bright colours, although I've previously shied away from them during the cooler months in previous years and gravitated towards greys and black. I'm excited for colour this winter!!
