GT Performer restomod first ride

First test ride after restoring my 1987 GT performer freestyle bike.
I want that Colony Gyro set but nobody has any in silver. Where'd you get yours from?
@@ratpinscher local shop in SoCal
@@Freestyler4130 do they have anymore...
@@ratpinscher not sure, i have two of them
Sell one?
I have the Green version of that bike. I had the same exact problem with the squeaks. I replaced the bottom bracket but that wasn't the problem. The problem finally went away when I tightened up the spokes.
@@rayraythejet mine was the cheap freewheel. Replaced with a profile elite .
If I was you I would change the seat I feel like the thin fusion seat makes the frame look more balanced.
@@rayraythejet yeah but this is a cruiser, factory seat is much more suitable for cruising than the fusion
Looks good. No way I would ride 165 cranks though. way too short for me but then again I'm 6 foot
Clean build. Why are the front sprockets so small nowadays? It seems that you would have to pedal a lot to get it going fast.
@@Thanos0001 gear ratio. Rear cassette is small too. No reason to have a 44t sprocket up front with small rear freewheel/freecoasters now. Same amount of peddling as old school
building one w/ mags should be done in a month. its gunna be a mish mash of parts but oh well
This looks like a video from 2016
Cool I got a 23 master
Truly A Marvel Of Time 👍
This piece of technology might cost a fortune on eBay
yeah. people would pay for stuff like this.
cool!
Thats why you modify a london mod as a cable guide and use a smaller nut from the barrel adjuster
Yeah, couldnt get that to work on mine
Bucket list bike... Keep the bucket
Best decade ever. On skateboards and bikes all day and not on electronics like kids today.
He said everyone has one of these hahaha *looks around*
My 2018 had came with the black wheels, which had to go because they ruined the look of the bike. The extra short seat post ( slammed ) was another thing that I couldn't get with. I went with a set of Odyssey Hazard's to match the frame, plus a 300mm Odyssey post that I chopped down a little. With the black post, those chrome GT bars got swapped for an Autumn Juice Bar that complimented the look of the bike. Since i couldn't find an Odyssey Bayou Bar, the Autum's were the closest thing. I was trying to Odyssey the bike out.
They should've had a removable cable holster like the GT has. That way, you could make it more uniform.
Yup
Those Haro's are pretty cool. I just can't get with the handlebar and stem on them.
So there is nothing original on this bike
No most of the parts of the original have been changed to white versions or upgraded. The components that come original on these heritage gts arent very good honestly
That's a really nice bike
That’s weird you mentioned you saw this build on bmx museum. I just bought a very similar build, definitely different than yours but I was wondering if the guy who bought mine got his inspiration from you😂 definitely excited to get on the saddle of this one
Morbid thrasher is the guy i was referring to, pretty sure he sold his off a long time ago.
Damn dude that is so nice.
Nice
bruh, they selling these for $1500+ on their website.
Not the the 20.5 …bruh
what was total cost of build
I haven’t added it all up but id say around $1500-1700 ballpark
@@Freestyler4130I had a good laugh when a young kid offered me a grand for my bike about two weeks ago. I told him roughly what it cost for what he was looking at, then he attempted to tell me I got ripped off. He attempted to tell me about his Ripper not costing that much 😂!
Is the geometry like on the old 80s Haros? I can't ride the new bikes....
No its more of the “new school” geometry
whats the freewheel/cogs you use on the rear and the front sprocket?
28t sprocket/ 9t cassette
how and where did u get the frame and fork?
Hi, Where can I order the little yellow plastic cable guide between the back break and London Mod? Nice Haro... Thank you, Sergio
Lol thats just a ziptie.. youre talking about the fluorescent yellow little plastic piece ? Zip tie
@Freestyler4130 lol yeah
I have a zip tie on mine as well. I knew exactly what it was when I saw it 😂. @@Freestyler4130
Beautiful build. I prefer these rerelease models over the original 80’s. Something about American bottom brackets & standard head tubes on the original ones turn me off. There also way overpriced.
I recall the older kids in my neighborhood like late teenagers/ just out of high school early 20's in mid 90's w/ haro's and GT's and diamondbacks that were constantly getting stolen
cannot wait until they reissue the freestyler in coral, like how could they not !
I dont think thats going to happen. I think they are done with the lineage line
Totally tubular! 😎 For real though, that's pretty damn sweet. Nice build! 🤙
Damn, now _that_ is my dream bike! My ideal color scheme and style... Too bad I missed out on these, as I would've definitely went with this, over all chrome, like the Ground Master and later decal styles. Oh well.. 😜 I would go with white accessories to make it pop and match well with what's already there, but that's just me. Absolutely gorgeous bike, either way! 😎
Heh, small world.. I've always been a GT guy, but recently got the urge to get a modern Haro Master of some sort, and saw this video a few weeks ago while shopping around for one... Just bought a frame/fork set on the museum a few days ago and just now put 2 & 2 together that this is the same exact bike you sold me there. 😅 It was a great looking build! 😎 Looking forward to putting my own spin on it and changing up the colorways a bit though.. really wanted an '87/'88 style Master, but missed out on those, so this is the next best thing... Might go with some custom '87 style decals & use teal/blue components. Damn shame some of those Haro parts are out of stock everywhere, but I think I have some nice substitutes in mind. Anyway, can't wait to build it & do some riding! I appreciate the fair deal on it. 🤙 Cheers, - t0aD
Gorgeous GT! 😎 Love it
nice build, I kick myself for not picking up the 48's. The layback angle is a bit weird but I found that you can force it forward 2 notches and have it almost level with the ground if you really force it and stretch the access hole in the seat w/ your allen key. I'm thinking of shaving 2mm off the front face of the pivotal interface on the post itself to get one more notch leaned forward. I thought about the old posts, but they're 7/8" instead of 1" and I don't want to run a shim. The S&M layback is a micro dyno drainpipe in a way, dunno if you've seen it (I know you're matching brands, but the S&M post is pretty nice). GT just didn't quite think the design through and should tilt the top forward a bit in classic drain-pipe fashion.
You can still get 48s . Id probably just get the 36’s .. a bit lighter anyways
Awesome bike! where did you get the GT stickers that are on the handlebar and seat tube ?
Had them left over from an ‘87 restore. I think i got those from a seller on ebay
Thanks!@@Freestyler4130
People sell bootleg GT stickers on Ebay.
Don’t like these new Haro,s , there not made of 4130 chrome, Molly like they use to be & every things so tiny .
Ummm they are 4130
Stephen Carl Murphy, Stephen Carl Murphy Company, Hi 2021 Haro Master
I think i want one of these
My Vote goes for Black Panaracers. Are your pegs Armour Bikes Big Bohm Pegs ?
Hahahahah yeah ive since swapped the white for all black and chrome kneesavers
Ill have to update the vid
Wow what a gorgeous bike. Like a larger version of our old skool 20” flatland era we rode as youth. Super cool bro. I’m leaning towards this instead of a SE the more I check these out
Looks good
sick.
Gorgeous build, I love the choices! Thanks for the vid.
Glad you like it!
Gotta love Cheap Goods BMX! That’s where I picked up 2 of my Haro Sports!
my mom couldnt afford the Pro Performer , but she still got me a Performer and i made the front page of the local newspaper on it.. i traded out the mags for regular 5 spokes with a buddy, i had these purple/pink tires, grips and white seat and pedals
Locks like a 1999 haro zippo
WTF? Haro still exists? I don't even know if they are available in Australia, or where you can buy or order them. Although, there are 2 bmx stores I know of in Brisbane, Queensland, maybe I'll check with them.
Not many shops will have any on hand. You usually have to pre order or get from online shops
