Did you race it ever with the sx cylinder it
@@wayneca2112 yes, for the first year. It worked ok, the biggest improvment is getting rid of the stock exhaust.
Do you still ride the sx250
@@wayneca2112 yes, just rode a couple of weeks ago.
Its broke! 🤪
Somehwere... Beyond the sea
Chulada las deberían de volver a fabricar
That bike is a75 Harley sx250, I am using a modified 79 Honda cr250 exhaust.
What kind of exhaust do you have on it?
Where do you get top end parts?
The ds80 could be made faster verry easily
Thats me and my brother.
My uncle Furman Gray had two Harley bikes he tested for them. He was given one of the two bikes. (I pulled it on top of me at around 4yrs of age. I was trying to get on it as a kid should). 🤣 After a crash in 79’ in the Fl AM’s Furman walked away. Maico even waited for him to change his mind, (as did I as a 5 yo kid). But he never came back. PaPa sold the Harley prototype bike in hat know telling what it would have brought today. $$$
Thanks for the comment check out Keith Geisner’s channel and book, “Finding 49”. A 75 MX would go between $15-30k, depending on condition.
That's Italian
Es muy wapa, la desconocía.
Do they modify the track for the vet races? The three jumps seemed a lot bigger to me when I rode there.
Not much, some of the jumps may not be peaked up as much as they would be, but size of the jumps are the same. Over the years those tabletops have gotten shorter just by their normal grooming. Especially a couple on that main straightway.
great America 💣

hi can you tell me why some mx 250 have expansion chamber on left and some have on the right
All 78 MX 250’s have the right side pipe that crossed trough the frame to the left. The factory works bike that is shown, #49, is really a completely different bike from the production bike. They used a left side CR250 pipe, then later a custom pipe shown here. The first bike shown on this video is actually a 75 SX250, which I am running a left side 79 CR250 pipe.
@@masdbo I an currently building one out of a 75 sx250 also that's why I was enquiring about the exhaust
@@wayneca2112 if building it for racing, you may need to reinforce the frame. Mine has broken many times. The weak spots are on the tubes at the front engine mounts and at the frame behind the foot pegs where the stamped metal pieces join the two round tubes together. It would be a good idea to plate those pieces on the inside. The swing arm I change to an MX, which is an easy conversion with a little modification. It’s stronger and longer than the stock SX.
@@masdbo ok thanks its a project I just fitted 43mm xr 500 forks to it and some titanium footpegs I will strip bike completely it is hard to find any mx parts in Australia
@@wayneca2112 a good pipe for that project would be a 76 CR250 pipe which would me on the right. You would have to modify it considerably, but it would be worth it. That snake pipe is so cool. Extremely rare.
That's a vintage track for me
Love the slo-mo shots on the table top jumps 😎👍🏻
Thanks, we are at that track every Thursday morning 9 am for Vet day practice.
@@masdbo I'll have to come by next Thursday.
Nice bike! Where did you get the seat?
Thanks, the seat body I made and modified from a mold, I had it upholstered at a local shop.
which track was that?
which track was that?
Waldo
Is this an SX250 or the MX250? Sounds pretty strong for an SX.
Yes, it is an SX.
@@masdbo That’s outstanding! This gives me hope as I’m building a ‘78 SX with ported cases and an expansion pipe of some sort and a little better suspension. I’m hoping I’m not just wasting my time and money.
@@shawnpeterson2282 it depends on what you want to use out for and how far you want to go. Join on the FB page AMF Harley Davidson SX 175 -250 page also the MX 250 owners group page.
KX dude said goodbye 👍
Yes but I was on the old man class, let the kid fly.
Very Cool to see Don back out on the track! - Thanks for posting ☺
It is a little rich my friend, try adjusting the air screw a quarter turn leaner. It won’t stall as easy and it will be easier to start.
That’s pretty cool btw! 👍
Thanks I tried to get MJ to ride it but she was scared she would wreck it!
@@masdbo i would be scared too! Lol
Aaah yes..them good ol days..such fond memories of my Suzi TS250 and Honda XL250 .
I had an XL250 in 1980
Good kitty swimmer... 🤍
Those old '70s era 250s were WAY faster than the suspension could keep up with.
True, I was recently drag racing a friend that has a 2019 CR250F, we were pretty much dead even.
😼 "What? It's HOT outside! A cool, refreshing swim is the best way to beat the heat."
wow nice bike. nice ride. nice trail ride safe keepitup bro Great trail rides bro, beautiful trails🤘😉Ride Safe & God Bless🎉
This was one painful lap, I stayed up as long as I could with hurt ribs from a crash in practice. I pulled off the track after about a lap!
Love the elevator shaft jumps, nothing like flat landing to pound the shit out of your vintage motorcycle..
Awww so cute
Hey masdbo I just bought a cheap sx250 and want to Build a Classic Cross can you give me a few tips to optimize the Engine ? What carburetor do you use? Do you still run the oilpump? Greetings from germany !
I do not run the oil pump, I mix 36:1. A vm34 mikuni would be great on an SX. The pipe is the biggest improvement, get a 79 Honda cr250 pipe and modify it to fit. Lighten up the frame as much as possible.
@@masdbo did you remove the oilpump? The previous owner connected the oil hoses
@@borry.dont.worry139 yes remove the oil pump and make a block of plate using the mounting holes of the pump. Remove the oil pump shaft and the tachometer drive gear. Plug the hole in the intake manifold of course.
How much for one?
Ya just make one! That’s just a piece of exhaust tubing with a washer and bolt welded on on.
@@masdbo Good to know, thanks!
O.o
왠지 알고리즘의 선택을 받을 것 같은
Uhhh.. are you sure its a SX, because... looks like a MX to me.. (the small amount i can see)
Yeah I am pretty sure on that one lol .But Have made it to look like an MX, so mission accomplished.
@@masdbo O ok. Well i have an SS and wish it was a SX.... Dont suppose you have the exhaust left over and want to sell it, or any other parts, by chance?
@@cumulusvapes7 if I were you I think I would keep it an SS. They are more rare than the SX, then look for an SX maybe in rough shape you can make a scramble out of. 78 was the best year but anything late 75 and up with the better transmission.
@@masdbo Its a 76 SS250 (H6 Code) and yea, i keep hearing that its more rare! I certainly WONT be hacking into it! But the only difference is bolting on the front fender and undoing a few bolts and springs for the exhaust isnt it? Other than tires.. Id keep my parts, so it can be whatever/whenever though... Was thinking to have a spare rear wheel around anyway.. What i AM confused on, is the front fork and there was a disc option on a Cagiva SST 250. As i understand.. its a bolt on affair to, but.. im unclear, as to which fork they used for it.. I think there was 3 that it could be??! I cant find ANY other bikes like this, around here at all, inc SS,SX,MX,SST some fenders and stuff thats all..
@Cumulus Vapes there are quite a few differences but yeah, those are the main ones. The engine # will start out as 9E, that means SS and it is actually an early model style case. All SS were like that. You have non folding foot pegs snd buddy pegs mounted differently. As far as a pipe, one should turn up on eBay or go to the FB SX 250 page and inquire there. It would be cool to have one of each!
Oh no! Teammate issues in the same turn.
Yeah, I should focus on my rutted turn not why my teammate is stopped!
How's that thing holding up? I'm about to pick one up!
Harley-Davidson needs to bring back a real trail bike
Yeah I don’t know why they don’t or didn’t in the last 20 years. When you don’t adapt to the market you go away and it seems that is what they are doing.
Short video because it only got worse !
Very cool man! We should thank God for today's suspension
Hey ! Are you riding an HD 250 MX or SX? Loving the videos, would like to see more of the Moto !
Thanks, It is a SX250, highly modified with some MX parts.
@@masdbo dope man!! I'm in the process of doing the same with my father's old 250sx! Where did you find an original tank?? Br, ze Pedro
@@bitolas69 They are hard to find, I got it off Ebay years ago before collectors started thinking they were worth $1000 each. I raced for along time with a stock SX tank painted to look like the MX. T.he later models work better, (they have a better mount) Besides, the MX tank will not fit your SX frame, mine has been modified to remove the oil tank.
@@masdbo yeaaaa thank you for the answers! I Really appreciate! I've painted the frame already and some other parts but Let's see if I can make this engine run again after all the rust is gone
Awesome!
The track looks like it might be saturated with water ==> grease!
What a pity for the crash
I raced my CZ Sidepiper in that one, #551 caught on video at 1:17. It was a fun race, but yes that rut was hard to avoid. Thanks for posting, great bike!
In have a friend with a nice Sidepiper, let me know if you need another one!
