What I Learned From Building a Ridiculous Keyboard by Hand
Alternate Title: Keyboard video part 2
Notes:
- I'm aware that there is a dead pixel in the middle of the screen. I haven't used this camera in a while and it seems I'm due for a new one.
- I'm red/green colour deficient, so the white balance might be a bit wonky (also I don't know which screen is truer)
- You may notice some strange stretching at the bottom of the screen. I don't know what caused this, but it wasn't worth my time to fix it.

Stupid CS:GO Shit 2

FROM HEREON IN, THIS SERIES WILL BE TITLED "STUPID X SHOITE" because apparently swear words in the title is a no-no... The completely unanticipated sequel! It's shorter because I'm trying to do these more frequently (although with exams coming up I may disappoint). Songs used are (in order of playing): The Village People - In The Navy Kevin MacLeod - The Builder Kevin MacLeod - Volatile Reactio...

http:://www.stratroulette.com I mentioned last video that I'd be doing videos more frequently and shorter. This is not one of those videos. It took me 4 days of non-stop editing to make this happen as I thought it would be super quick. Songs used (in played order): Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag Kevin MacLeod - Local Forecast (Elevator) Kevin MacLeod - Cuban Sandwitch Kevin MacLeod - The Show Must B...

Thank you very much for the github repo. Droppin' a like for ya. Handwired ones seem like they're a lot better than those self-assembly pcb kits out there. Who wanna spend a 1000 dollars on a kinesis when we can make one lol.

Hey mate, enjoyed the 2 videos. Since your keyboard uses QMK, have you tried VIA to configure it? Configuration is instant without flashing, which is great while honing in on your ideal setup. Plus you can keep VIA app (or webpage if your browser supports WebHID, such as Chromium based browsers do) open so you won't forget what's where while playing around. It also supports more advanced stuff such as mod-tap, layer-toggle-dual-function keys and macros, and many QMK codes, all without flashing.

I hear there is this resin goop stuff that you can put on to help fill the ridges, its fairly cheap too. for the future, i might recommend putting some of that stuff on first and then sanding to cut your sanding time by a lot. Also legit want to design a similar board to this one, just a little more subdued, and i would wanna print it in copper infused pla for that heft!

Nice quality :) Check out the nrfmicro for DYI bluetooth support. I myself have the "original" dactyl lightcycle (the smaller one), I think it looks better than any other version, but is also harder to print. Mine was printed by someone with not so good 3d printer and I'm using it still after 2 years :)

Until today when i wanted to buy a split keyboard but cannot (lack of suppliers in my country) i learned that building your own keyboard is a thing. And I'm so desperate that I will do it. Great video. Very informative for my purpose.

Hey great video, thank you for sharing your experience. I am building a dactyl manuform right now and I was wondering what would you do differently if you were to rebuild it? Also I am thinking about getting the water jet cut metal base to hold the keyboard in place, do you think 5mm is too much weight? I was thinking 3mm could do as well.

I was looking to get a 5x6 dactyl, but I didn't trust the math on 2*5*6=60 so I counted the slots on the picture and I'm sure glad I did. There was a few additional keys below the 5x6 rows, I guess for programming layer keys.

Really happy to find this, so algorithm works :) BTW: for the alt+1 I just use double taps. You can assign them to another combinations and the detection works very well.

if you use flux and some ventilation, you can just use the soldering iron to burn insulation away as you solder multiple connections on a single wire like that. The flux and heat will keep it from contaminating the solder joint.
