I loved Bionic Commando, and I have to admit the Game Boy version was somehow even better.

Metroido was the first game I owned besides the packed in SMB/DH. Great game and took me months to beat. I own almost all of these except for a few and never played Adventure Island 3. Great List!

Rc pro am, double dragon and kirby, they are the only nes games I'm bothered about, I'm from the UK so we had a different game scene, zx spectrum, c64 etc

I never owned this game as a kid but I probably would have loved this game actually. The original Pitfall on Atari, I knew it as just getting as high a score as possible in 20 minutes. That's what I was used to, just getting a high score. I never knew it could actually be beaten, that you can get every treasure. So I would have probably approached Super Pitfall the same way, not trying to beat the game, not knowing the game could be beaten, but just trying to get as high of score as possible. I doubt I would have ever found the secrets, but I wouldn't have been looking, just trying to get the gold bars, the treasures. If you look at it from just a high score perspective, then it looks like something I could have gotten into. If you're just trying to beat a game, then yeah, it kind of sucks.

I played Monster Party as a kid. We had a tape store in my rural town and my dad used to rent it for me. Loved it but couldn’t beat it.

I'm gonna say Ring King was my favorite. I know it's known as the "BJ between rounds game" but all jokes aside it's alot of fun: you have to level up to get stronger. You work hard to get those stats built up. As you get stronger so do your opponents both in the ring and in training. It's random which is pretty rare for NES, usually you learn a strat for a boss and you know which are easy and which are not here it's always a surprise. You have vs mode, tournament mode and a career mode. You have a password feature. I enjoyed that game alot as a kid and still do. I enjoy RPG and sports and this brought both things together

Nice list, good to see the usual suspects like SMB 3, Castlevania, Kirby's Adventure, and Contra not here to highlight other great games. Bionic Commando is great. Here is a small list I recommend. 1. TMNT Manhattan Project 2. Batman 3. Tecmo Super Bowl 4. Super Mario Bros 2 5. Tecmo Wrestling One hidden gem I'd like to mention is Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. The UI is a bit tricky to get use to, but once you do it is a lot of fun.

I remember picking this up for a couple bucks thinking it’d be a fun little game to play for 5-10 minutes and ended getting sucked in. Way more fun and addictive than it looks.

THANK YOU for calling out Ninja Turtles! It wasn’t JUST the difficulty (although, that too) but the game is just awful, repetitive, boring AF and no one except speed runners actually enjoy it.

Nitpick: Super Metroid was Metroid 3. It's in the title sequence. I still have my cartridge and can pull it up. : ) (Metroid 2 was on Game Boy)

Zelda 2 is starting to get more love recently. I always loved it and I feel its reputation as the black sheep of the series is unwarranted.
