Extracted from an episode of Channel 4's 'Britain By Beach' which tells of the worse disaster ever to befall the RNLI when 27 lifeboat volunteers from ST Annes and Southport lost their lives attempting to save the crew of the german barque 'The Mexico'. Unfortunately they had no way of knowing that the crew had already been rescued by Lytham Lifeboat.
