It's just really tough to do it every single day. Mentally exhausting
I agree it can be exhausting. But the rewards can be great if you push through that exhaustion and make a difference. It also helps to have time, tools, and inspiration from others. Thanks for sharing. It’s an important point. Perhaps I should post a video about how to make daily posting easier.
Great tip! Do you have any more on directing on-screen talent who typically don’t do video to get their best performance? I create corporate video for the company I work for, so I have to direct people who have rarely or never have been on camera before. Working with actors, the CEO or people with high energy is naturally easier since they’re more comfortable being in front of a camera and public speaking. What directions and tips would you recommend for people who are new or suffer from “red-light syndrome”?
For me It’s generally about having a conversation that gets them in the right emotional space before hitting the record button. However… on major problem I see from some corporate directors and producers is to expect a non actor to say or read something that is not natural for them. Most people can’t perform a script. Some can’t deliver a single line. That said… if I need someone to deliver a pre written line… I use the “You Know” trick. You ask them to start the line or paragraph with the words, “You know…”. That usually works wonders. They can also imagine they are talking to a close friend and with the friend’s name.
