Marie Goldman is the Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Chelmsford.
Marie is currently the Deputy Leader of Chelmsford City Council where she is also the Cabinet Member for Connected Chelmsford and a ward councillor in Moulsham & Central ward. In 2021, she was elected to Essex County Council where she currently represents the Chelmsford Central division.

Intervention in Westminster Hall debate on SEND provision
On Thursday 5th September, Marie intervened in a Westminster Hall debate on SEND provision.
She highlighted the failure of previous governments to increase the funding for special educational needs and disabilities in line with the increase in the number of years that children and young people are eligible for support, which was brought in by the 2014 Children & Families Act.
Marie raised one of the awful consequences of that failure: despite losing 98% of cases, some local authorities (including Essex County Council) are so desperate to win their tribunal cases against parents that they are using barristers and King's Counsels to fight them.

This is the shocking moment that Essex County Council revealed to me that only 1% of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) are issued within the legal deadline of 20 weeks. Although the microphones didn't pick it up, there was an audible sharp intake of breath from lots of people in the council chamber as the damning figure was announced.

The number of children assessed as having Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) is growing, but Essex County Council is one of the worst councils in the country for the number of appeals brought by parents against SEND-related decisions. Hi Councillor Goldman, maybe time to take down the blue and yellow flag over the Civic Centre and save the tax payer's money for homeless people in the UK.
Been watching this be built for absolutely ages, finally drove on it for the first time today (1/11/23) an hour ago coming back home from Basildon back to Braintree area, so this will change my commute a bit, already seems way more straightforward less roundabouts and easier access to the A12👍

" The contempt at which public employees hold an utter contempt toward who pays their wage is encapsulated in this ..Well let's do this and ask if we are allowed to charge £1k later.
