Why the term 'content' drives me insane
Просмотров 41028 дней назад
In 2024, everything is termed as, and reduced to 'content'. Whether it's a reel on Instagram or the latest critically acclaimed movie, executives want you to refer to both as content. Here's why I hate the term, and how the term should make you reflect on creating with intentionality. This is a mix of my thoughts and a summary of this fantastic video essay by Patrick H Willems, who goes into de...

What's In My Camera Bag (Travelling With Camera Gear)
Hello At 3m50s it’s the pocket 6k ? What is the lens on it ?
Thank you. It is also one of my favorite movies. And the commentary was interesting, easy to follow, and short 🙂
The painting inspired the look of the film…1967 painting "Pacific" by Alex Colville…criminal not to mention it.
Exactly right. 95% of people fear genuine connections with each other. It's just too scary. Better just greet each other with "brother" and go about your business
This post seems quite silly click bait the movie is clearly about a gang of robbers who must be prepared to cut off all ties if they ‘see The Heat’ around the corner, as it states. Totally a waste of time to look deeper and deSpite this post, NONE of the actor interviews even comes CLOSE to suggesting this crap ‘theory’. Al Pacino’s character explicitly states he cant hold a marriage due to his 24/7 duty as we see time and again. The most famous scene with De Niro in the diner takes place ‘after hours’ and was scripted to show this fact. The police,an is obsessive and the gang is greedy. BTW: The gang all have partners they are devoted to loving and THAT element of devotion is critical part of the sub plot so yeah this post is total BS, understand now? I dont think you watched the same movie

HOGWASH! The main characters have jobs which conflict with healthy relationships, as the dialog describes several times. Period. You’re PROJECTING your own inadequacies on FICTIONALIZED characters.
Maybe calm down a bit bro

Awesome analysis...definitely watching it
This film is a masterpiece but in my personal opinion the real world is much worse than what the world depicts
''is about YOUR fear of human connection ''
Your perception is a gift. This insight resonates with me so profoundly I can't put it into words. I hope you nurture and protect your gift and continue to create more art like this that heals the world. If there is anything I can do to help do not hesitate to reach out to me. Your future is bright.
It commodifies creative output and makes the act of making just another mundane task. We are abundant with slop, but at least our shareholders are happy with the “content.”
💯
Yes dude! It really kind of molds every type of "content" into one thing, which really stifles creativity. A good example is the Mr. Beast Effect on RUclips where everything turns into a formula. Probably a bit hyperbolic but it still has some impact. Great video man
@@krucialFPS thanks man. Play the algorithm but don’t be a slave to it
agree with your thoughts here and appreciate your input as a cinematographer. i went to go watch the video you linked and i noticed that you may have used the text graphics and video clip compilations from that video. this feels unfair to the creators of the other video who put together those graohics and compilation clips. I know you linked to the video (which maybe you intended as a way of crediting them?) but it still feels disingenous. Its not a huge deal but if youre going to be making videos on youtube long term just be careful because some people will blow these things out of proportion. 👍🏻
Hey thanks man, I appreciate the feedback and you’re right. I will update the caption to reflect this
@nourisardardp no problem 👍🏻
good video! keep it up!

Beautifully done! We've been debating whether we should replace our BMPCC4k with a FX3. You're making us reconsider this!
@@WurdMedia thanks brother great to hear! I envy anyone with an FX3 trust me

Intentional of lighting is a fact. I have a love hate for mine as well specifically because it HATES not having enough light, when you have enough light if that makes sense. The sensor does not convert the analog signal worth a crap like My Sony A7 Rii does with even an F4 lens. BMC4k produces noise sooner even at the second floor of the ISO scale it looks weird and you have to denoise. My Rii Sony... NOPE, clear and crystal footage every time. Yes it forces you to shoot as a cinematographer too I'll give you that one. Can't beat it's price to quality ratio EVER though. Audio tip... lower your signal at the camera and raise it back in post and put a compressor and limiter at the audio channel. Basic and simple but effective so your audio is controlled.
@@mediaflmcreation great perspective and feedback thank you!!
Personally I love consuming memorable and engaging content with my eyes and ear holes
This was beautiful bro. Thankyou.

Really enjoyed this analysis, thank you.
Excellent video! It’s an absolute beast with a couple of weaknesses.
Thank you! Agreed
I've seen this film many times since 1995 (first saw it in theatres) I've never been most in tune with the ending scene between Neil and Vincent when Neil's life is slowly slipping away and Vincent is holding his hand. It was very touching, to see two men (arguably excellent in their respective crafts and tough, intimidating individuals) put aside their conflict and need each other in a life changing moment. Two people who were alone in their lives connect, even briefly, due to the innate need to feel cared about that we all carry.
Too bad the guy that taught Neil to fuck off in an instant if the heat is around the corner didnt also teach him that revenge will eventually end you.
No freebies, or discount. Thanks!
I watched the film for the first time two months ago and got hooked to it. The characters, their performances, dialogue and score especially. I rewatch it, and I often learn something new. Brilliant commentary!
When you talk you should just show b roll from the movie. Seeing a human face right after dramatic scenes takes like 25 percent away from the shit you was building. Idk I’m stoned rn
I once almost pulled the trigger on the Cinema 6K for the full frame sensor. It's unbeatable for the price but I'll wait until they release a gen 2
Trying to figure out with Blackmagic camera to buy is like a mathematical puzzle. The cinema 6K is full frame but worse off at 3200 iso than the pocket 6K. The Pyxis has the same sensor, great form factor but still has those challenges
I believe this fear manifests itself in Tony Soprano as well. The criminal lifestyle, like in Heat, is one of loneliness and despair. It was the eventual downfall of DeNiro’s character and of Tony (depending on your interpretation of that ending). In his own words, it’s the life of a soldier.
Put the names of the two main characters together, and you get "Vince Neil", the lead singer of Motley Crue. Coincidence? More seriously, this is a very on-point and concise analysis. Thank you for the video :-)
Genius
clearly me commenting on this film, means it's my favourite film EVER!!!!.. but lets take a minute to applaud michael-manns use of music!!!!! the final scene over-scored by 'MOBY'S GOD MOVING OVER THE FACE OF WATERS is EPIC!!!..but that's his trade mark in films!!!.. shooting-scenes with fly-overs over citys, night-shots, stunning music, this film is for the Ages!!!!....

I’m a Muslim and loved this place, felt a great sense of peace.
As a freelancer, I can confirm everything said here!! Awesome advice. I'm also bad at marketing myself but my best jobs came from the people I aligned the most with.
The tone of the film is just perfection. A good score sets a good film from a great one.
My interpretation: movie was based on Musashis Dokkodo
Please elaborate
Great commentary, I only dimly sensed that narrative upon watching the film for a third or fourth time
Thank you!
i am alone but i am not lonely
❤
never thought of it that way good job man
Thanks brother
Pacino was high as a kite in this movie. That’s the only way you explain his crappy acting.
Chills
its a good point you got there. Is it destiny? is it addiction? are we slaves of our own troublesome emotions? are we able to connect with others on a truly meaningful way? it is fascinating to see someone like Neal living after a code, but i will quote Anton Chigure in no conuntry for old man: "f the rule you followed brought you to this, of what use was the rule?"
The best movie ever made.
I love how Deniro's death scene in Heat is so similar to Tom Cruise's death in Collateral.
same director !
Ah, the times when they still made really good movies in Hollywood... Today a movie like Heat, with strong male characters who can be role models, are not allowed by woke BS Hollywood anymore.
Kind of a stupid take. Heat isn't good because its protagonists are physically strong and capable men. Them being men does benefit the theme, since isolation and withdrawal from intimacy are seen as common (but negative) masculine traits in modern society, hence the tragedy of the film. But them being men in itself doesn't make the film. Plus, there are plenty of modern action flicks with strong male leads, such as the John Wick movies, Equaliser movies, Gray Man and whatever Jason Statham is doing. Most modern movies are mediocre, but I think it's down to the relentless pursuit of profit above creativity.
What’s it like having the brain of a dog
Wow...I always knew this...but not until this very moment. 👏... Fabulous analysis... Yes yes yes!
"In one of Hollywood's greatest scenes," thats what got me to subscribe to your channel, its too bad they can no longer make movies like this, but it was good run! Its also pretty surprising when you watch a movie and never once think of its true underlying message. Thanks for conveying it. Do realize that this movie never explains just how Wayngrow was able to make that call about the bank being hit. There is no possible way he could of known this information and thats the one thing I hate about this movie. There had to be some rat but it is never shown or explained who that person is. I asked Ai on this answer and they also agree there is no explanation on who the rat is!
Thanks man. Great perspective
