    I was born in Michigan. In AZ now. I built a cargo trailer conversion 5 years ago out of necessity. I was homeless. Houseless now by choice. I’m saving good monies now. Mines different from yours but I love it. I’ve got a 7x14. I put 2” of insulation and finished with redwood and cedar picket fencing. I had to build mine while living in it. I like what you did. I have a couple videos on my channel of my trailer.

    That’s almost exactly how we’ve done ours! We opted for no water system because we can haul enough water for our needs for a weekend or so. It makes it simple for winterizing the unit. We even have the half umbrella for our awning. Our ac unit is stuck in the escape window as we need it. The way it’s designed, if you have to use the escape window you flip a couple levers and the ac will fall out onto the ground. That umbrella we have is held on by those quick fist clamps. Like the over landers use for axes and shovels. It’s also how we have the tv antenna mounted. Takes about five minutes to put away. Not too fancy inside either. Don’t cook in there unless it’s pouring rain outside.

    I find what you've created interesting, on several levels. I have property near the southwest coast of Nova Scotia. I've used for camping in the past. I would like to upgrade to something more secure than a tent. Additionally. I own the same truck you have. I live in Louisiana, it is a long drive. Do you feel confident wile towing on the interstate ? What mpg do you get ? Have tried changing the power stations from the truck ? Would I be correct to assume, you use the gas generator to charge the power stations, when plug in is not available ? I don't want to spend alot on a large power station with extra batteries, only to find that they won't accept power from the generator. Thank you for your service.

    • @TerryMoore420
      @TerryMoore420 Месяц назад

      @@normansimonsen1203 The Ridgeline pulls this trailer fine on the highway. I think I get 13 or 14 mpg. Adding a tonneau cover on the truck added 2 mpg. I actually have 3 small power stations. I really like Pecron. I have two of them each has 1200 watt inverter. I paid less than $300 each. I did this because with two, if one has problems I still have the second unit. This was a choice over one larger. I charge usually just by plugging in at home or the campground. I have the generator also in case I’m not able to plug-in and the batteries are low. I run everything off the batteries except heat and AC. Charging from the truck would work if I had a DC to DC charger. I haven’t needed it so I haven’t invested in that. I have boondocked before in Arizona but it’s not our thing. We like state parks but mostly use COE campgrounds. It’s worth the $15 per night to have electric hookups and usually water.

    Nice trailer and setup, Terry! Is that a 6x12? Seems bigger but 7x14 usually have double axle?

    • @TerryMoore420
      @TerryMoore420 2 месяца назад

      It’s 6 1/2 x 12. I had it built with a foot of extra height so we can stand. The 12 feet doesn’t include the V nose. I wanted single axle. I’m glad I did because of maintenance expenses for the bearings, tires, etc. Most I’ve seen seem to be 6 wide. I think the extra half foot of width seems to add a lot more room.

    • @TerryMoore420
      @TerryMoore420 5 месяцев назад

      We didn’t get rid of it. I just took it out. I almost exclusively use my trailer to escape nasty Michigan winter weather. We go to Alabama or Mississippi a lot between November to May. We stay at COE campgrounds where we plug in and use electric heat. I run a Wave 3 propane heater while driving between campgrounds, but only when it’s below 55 or so. We never use the propane while we’re inside. The diesel heater worked great if I was going to be in below freezing temperatures a lot. But I’d need more experience using it effectively. I’m thinking of ideas what to do with it now. I’m thinking of installing it in a container to sit outside with a hose blowing heat up through the floor.

    Love this setup and am interested in doing something similar. Are you happy with ProLine? Do you know the weight of your trailer? Does it have brakes? Does your Pacifica have anything special installed to help with towing? How well does it tow through mountains? Sorry for all the questions but I haven't found too many people talking about towing a trailer of this size with a minivan which is what I'm wanting to do as well. But I'm a little worried about the toll it might take on my van.

    Nice setup. I'm planning on doing something similar with my Pontiac Montana, with just a single bed. If you turn your phone sideways, you'll get a wide picture, so you can just point rather than whip the camera back and forth, which really is hard on the eyes. You might run your battery down running the fridge from the car. Your Jackery has pass-through charging, so you can have it plugged in at the back and have your fridge plugged into the 12 V (cigarette lighter) plug on it. That way, when you turn the car off, your fridge will keep on running. That frees up your front plug for a USB plug for your phone to use Google maps. I'd get lost without it if I didn't save maps at home for trips. I don't use data unless I'm desperately lost. :) Jon in rural BC, Canada
