why u removed the mechanisms course, that course is gold,
Thank you for the compliment, but I had to remove them because my University asked (suggested/told) me to. I created an online graduate class in mechanisms as part of the online MS program and they don't want me giving away the majority of the content for free. I've not been asked to remove any other content.
Name a better duo than Newtdog & Wormy... 😎🪱
Pretty cool
I've been studying for my FE Mechanical exam reviewing topics I took 2 years ago in uni. These videos have been a tremendous help for reviewing dynamics! The B.L.U.F is super helpful for getting the main concepts and formulas and I appreciate how you show different methods of solving the examples while keeping the analysis straightforward yet comprehensive. I'm surprised these videos don't have more views and comments, haha. Thanks for the videos!
I just love you dude, mad guitar skills
Thank you for the guitar made my day sir
You're welcome. This was made during the Covid shutdown, and I started adding a different guitar at the end of each video, for a little while, because I was going loopy.
i have a question sir, about the external force, is the weight not included when you solve for it? in the state 1 i mean
sorry for the stupid quuestion now i get it, the friction is nonconservative force, so it is included and counted as external force
thank you sir
continue to be passionate sir , people will find this
sir you are saving me from failing dynamics!! hope people will discover this channel, it will help u a lot
thank you sir! gonna watch all your playlist and leave a comment cuz you've been very helpful even indulging my imagination to better understand
you chopped each detail very well, and easy to digest. thank you so much
sir, tbh i've been anxious due to a lot of channels i've gone thru and cannot explain dynamics well, but you are very good thank you for the time you've spent, i hope people will discover this great videos
Thank you for your explanation. Great channel!
Thanks for sharing
Very helpful, Thanks!
"28min video, that no one will ever watch" is crazy🤣
I recorded the video for my students who miss class due to illness. I didn't expect anyone else to watch it.
@@ProfessorTedDiehl Just wrote an exam today, i'm pretty sure i got a distinction for it thanks to you. You're teaching style and humor are exceptional
@@jeffreymakape505 I am very glad to hear that! Also glad I could help someone. I don't even cover this topic in my course any longer.
loved the intro
how do you find the x,y,z components on a problem when you are not given those mm values? on one problem i have all i am given is F1=500N 40degrees from the y-axis...F2=800N 70degrees from Z axis
Generally speaking, there is usually a way (depending on the setup of the problem) to reduce the problem to a "2 equations and 2 uknowns" scenario, so be on the lookout for that. There's some chance, but not often, you'll have three equations (x, y, and z) and three uknown (usually components of an unknown force). This usually requires a 3x3 matrix, but I don't think that occurs this early in the semester, but maybe at some schools. I often recommend students do an example problem that has a solution already but cover up the solution and treat it like a problem you don't know the answer. Force yourself to go through it until you get an answer. Then try the homework again. You'll often find it much easier. I cannot answer further questions, as I'm working on a new course this semester. I'm not sure why I answered this one. I guess I just felt like it. Best of luck!
do you mind posting the printed notes and maybe the slideshow you used in the video? I think it might help me when I'm reviewing. Thanks!
Sorry. I don’t post course material as they contains images I didn’t create and have no right to share. I share the videos I’ve made for my classes as a courtesy to my current and former students for their future reference. I’m hopeful they also benefit others on their engineering journey as well, but strongly encourage all to purchase Shigley’s Mechanical Design and Philpot’s Mechanics of Materials on which I’ve based my lessons.
@@ProfessorTedDiehl no worries, the videos are more than enough. thank you for posting them!
why did you treat the compressed liquid as saturated liquid !! I mean why we did not take the volume from table A-7?
Try it both ways and check the difference. Liquids are often treated as incompressible even though they can be compressed a very small amount. Their density is more dependent on temperature than it is on pressure, so using the saturated fluid specific volume at the known temperature is a decent approximation. Check the specific volume in the compressed liquid water tables at different pressures for the same temperature, the differences are typically less than one percent.
Thanks friend
thanks habibi
good lecture thank you prof
You are a living legend bro keep it up
First!
👌 "Promo sm"
hello professor! may i know what book are u using?
The 11th edition of Shigley’s Mechanical Design from McGraw Hill.
thank u so much!!!
thank you for everything sir your explanations are very detailed and descriptive.
Glad you like them!
What race car can do 0 to 150 mph in just over 1/8 mile curve? This is why young engineers catch so much flack from older factory workers.
Thanks for your feedback. I made a mistake.
Hello Sir, Thanks for detailed explanation! Can I get this excel file for study and calculations? Thanks from India
good
Thanks
Awesome video very well explained.
Nooo the page before
Oops! I made the inner edge of the left side 3 inches from the inner edge of the right side instead of the center of the force 3 inches from the right side. That's why the stresses were too high. Fixing it resulted in about 33 ksi maximum stress, still a bit higher than the hand calculations but better.
How can I contact you prof.?
You just did! Please don't ask me to share slides or notes. The majority of their content is based on Professor Robert Norton's book "Design of Machinery" which I urge everyone to purchase and I have no right to give it away for free.
thanks, I was looking for help for my thermodynamics class, keep it up!❤
How can 1-cos(t) be greater than 1?
If the angle is greater than 90 and less than 270 degrees, the cosine of it becomes negative so it adds to 1 instead of subtracts.
Unless negative means opposite to the arrow drawn direction?
Sir, I think the word is perpendicular, not through.
Brent, thanks. Where in the video did I make the mistake?
Prof, kindly change the thumbnail for each video. It’ll make identifying videos way more easier. Love your lectures by the way ! Sending love from Ghana 🇬🇭❤️
Thank you! Being useful is what I strive for. I’m not certain how I could improve Wormy…. You can see an Apple with Wormy, right? Maybe something’s broken?
@@ProfessorTedDiehl I don’t know what you mean by wormy. But Thanks so much for the videos. It really helped my class. Surely getting an A in the Machine Design paper ! And Prof, all I was saying is that, use different thumbnails for different videos, so we know what each video is about
Thank you so much prof, people will watch trust me ❤️❤️ Sending love from Ghana 🇬🇭
Nice guitar skills tho ❤️
