This is the first time I've ever heard of Malvolio as a fool. He's usually played as a very light villain; we love seeing Mal get trashed, and Mal never wins our sympathy because he refuses to reconcile after receiving an apology: "I'll be avenged on the pack of you!" are his last words in the play.
He is the type of fool we are meant to laugh at rather than with. Take fool to mean the profession rather than idiot (in my head-cannon he's a parody of a puritan preacher standing outside the Globe and shouting at the actors. Shakespeare took vengeance in the most immortal way he could!)
DOGBERRY. There is no "s" in DOGBERY. Dogsberry is not the character's name.
