Reflecting on a Year of YouTube Travel Vlogging While Traveling Home
Просмотров 65День назад
Leaving Missouri, we finish the last week of chasing 70 degrees to return to our home state of Colorado. As we drive, I share my personal insights on starting a travel vlog. As usual, we show you the best of the scenic drive and the stops along the way. We'll also continue the tradition of learning a little about each state we visit. Our first stop, Wichita, Kansas includes a visit to Keeper Pa...
Travel to Branson Missouri/Land of God and Country
Просмотров 14014 дней назад
We've hit our final, big stop on our "Big Fat Trip." Yes, Branson is a touristy town, but there's a surprise here. Silver Dollar City is here, as well as Table Rock Lake and Dam, but this wasn't what surprised us. The College of the Ozarks floored us with their innovative concepts in higher education, and we saw the theme of God and Country everywhere. It was refreshing to be amongst people who...
Rules for Safe RV Planning While Driving Through Kentucky, Illinois, and Missouri
Просмотров 6421 день назад
We're continuing west from Tennessee and passing through Kentucky and Illinois before heading into Missouri. As usual, we learn a little about each state as we cross borders. Being on the road for these past few months has caused us to reflect on what we did that helped us plan a long trip with safety in mind. We cover a few rules RVers adopt to help them plan, and then we tell you what we did....
Nashville/More Than Just Country Music and Bachelorette Parties
Просмотров 74Месяц назад
Continuing west, we made our way to Nashville, TN. We love country music, but found Nashville to be so much more than a country music party town. Investigating 5 areas of the city, we found 19 things to experience. If we did spend money, it was pocket change. The city offers a variety of things to do. 0:00 Introduction 1:28 Harvest Host Location 2:17 Overview of Nashville 3:06 The West End 3:34...
Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg/The Great Smoky Mountains Travel Video
Просмотров 71Месяц назад
We're in the most touristy city we've ever been. Pigeon Forge has over 40 activities for tourists to enjoy, but we keep it cheap by enjoying the best they have to offer for free. We take a day to visit Gatlinburg too. Here we check out Anakeesta Theme Park and enjoy the expansive views of The Great Smoky Mountains. Last, but not least, we spend a day in the National Park by driving Roaring Fork...

Leaving Savannah and heading west we pass by four states and search out some adventures along the way. We learn a little about each state and pass through some fantastic scenery.
Things to do in and Around Savannah, Georgia
Просмотров 331Месяц назад
Heading up the coast from St. Mary's we spent several days in our favorite city to date, Savannah. There is so much to see and do in this great historic area. We cover getting around, the FREE ferry, shopping, and what to see to get a good overview of a city that has a lot to offer. We got out of the city to enjoy a Botanical Garden, Skidaway Island State Park, Wormsloe Historic Site, Fort Pula...
Traveling St. Mary's Georgia Area/Crooked River State Park/Fort Clinch State Park
Просмотров 184Месяц назад
We thought we were done with Florida, but we were wrong. Crossing the border into Georgia we settled into Crooked River State Park. St. Marys is a quaint town which we thoroughly enjoyed. When our original plans fell through, we returned to Florida to visit Fort Clinch State Park and toured the historic Civil War era fort. In addition to enjoying the beauty of Crooked River State Park, we learn...
Traveling Northeast Florida: the St. Augustine Area
Просмотров 1062 месяца назад
We're traveling north up Florida's coast. This week we stay at Faver Dykes State Park due to its close proximity to a number of things to do. Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Matanzas taught us about the European grab for land. We paddled and spent the day on the beach at Anastasia State Park. Washington Oaks Garden State Park was another spot. The grounds are spectacular. And then we walked the...
10 Best Stops on The Ormond Loop: Florida's Most Scenic Drive
Просмотров 2672 месяца назад
Eager to take a scenic route in Florida, we drive the Ormond Loop. It's only 34ish miles, but it took us a few days to fully complete the 10 stops along the way. We found it to have a great mix of beautiful trees, waterways, and ocean. The drive passes by several state parks and a number of easy beach access points. It was one of our favorite things to do while in Florida. 0:00 Introduction 1:0...
10 Cheap Things to Do in Ormond and Daytona

Moving from Central Florida, we landed at Ormond. In what seems to be our usual, we explored the area without spending much money. Tomoka State Park is a great place to camp, hike and kayak, Ormond Beach allows dogs, bikes, and four-wheel drive vehicles. Daytona has a huge Flea Market to explore as well as a sophisticated boardwalk. Traveling to the Atlantic side of Florida is giving us a whole...
Things to do and Towns to See in Central Florida

Using Griffin Lake State Park as our base, we explored the trails at the park, the Dead River as well as visiting the second largest live oak in the state. Silver Springs State Park, Paddling the Silver River, and Glass Bottom Boat Tours

Paddling the Santa Fe River, Ichetucknee River and Exploring O'Leno State Park in Florida

We camped at one of Florida's first state parks, O'Leno, and watched the Santa Fe River disappear underground. Too bad you missed the Ocean Star. All the stuff you showed can be seen just about anywhere, slightly different flavor for sure, but how often does one get the chance to on what had been an actual off-shore oil rig????

But, like I said in the video we were having so much fun with all of the free things to do there, I decided to chill and just enjoy the, as you put it "flavor" of Galveston. Happy travels.

Those atriums were outstanding! I've always thought of Nashville as a traffic-filled city on the Interstate that I had to go through on my way from Illinois to Florida every summer. Now, I know of many places in Nashville - outside of downtown - that look very interesting! Thanks!

    • @SwitchingGearsRVDiary
      @SwitchingGearsRVDiary 29 дней назад

I was very impressed by the atriums. If you go, parking at the Mall will save you $10 in parking fees. Nashville seems to be a popular stop between Florida and the North. The Campgrounds were full of people from the North heading home. You know traffic is our nightmare too. I'm glad you found something that you'd consider worthy of going to here.

Fantastic video! We're from the UK and fell in love with Utah over a decade ago; we've been many times and are coming back again this year. For us, Highway 12 was one of those "unexpected" highlights a few years ago when we set off along the route without knowing in advance the significance of it. Driving the Hogback scared the cr*p out of us the first time! We've since come to absolutely love it and the surrounding area. Hiking to the nearby Lower Calf Creek falls last year was an amazing highlight. One thing I would say is there's far more to Utah than just the Mighty 5 National Parks (great though they are) - it's a vast State with so much to explore and enjoy.

      @SwitchingGearsRVDiary 3 месяца назад

Andy, so well said! I found that roads that you expect are less memorable than the roads you come across and are surprised. Lower Calf Creek Falls had no parking left when we arrived so we didn't stop to hike. We'll have to return there someday. We'll be visiting Utah for a full month every October to find the many gems Utah has to offer. It's like you said, Utah is far more than just the Mighty Five. Thanks for watching.

Utah definitely has some gorgeous scenery. A few miles North of Hanksville, and twenty or thirty miles off the highway is a place that is supposed to be one of Butch Cassidy's hideouts. I think it might be called Robber's Roost. There are the remains of a stone fireplace near a spring where a rough cabin was. It is very hard to find, , but I did find it on Google Earth after much zooming in and out, and following dirt roads.
