in the aerly 80s i had a cheaply put together BMX. i remember it has that kind of handlebar grip which is very comfortable. it also has a brake lever that looks like that...i dont like it, its uncomfortable to the hand

Had the same bike when I was a kid,in the mid 80's I pulled the motomag 2 wheelset off of it to have them painted and someone stole the frame set but I've still got the wheel set
