I love recycling craft materials, and creating shabby chic and distressed/vintage designs, whilst also saving time and money. Costume jewellery and hair accessories also make beautiful, unique embellishments for many cards and crafts.

Quick handmade card tutorial - 5 minutes. Recycling embellishment packaging for shabby chic crafts
If you recycle the backing card from embellishment packaging there’s many ways to use these for crafting.
They make great toppers and background panels for layering. I mainly use them for handmade cards, but I’ve also seen them used with scrapbooking and junk journaling. Due to their thickness and many with a glossy sheen they are also durable enough to distress with scissors and look lovely if scrunched or creased for shabby designs.
This was a quick, easy card handmade card design using a pearl hair scrunchie, cotton lace and craft flowers.

Make a shabby chic card in just 5 minutes. I used a strip of natural burlap, a cheap plastic pearl bracelet, white string, craft flowers and a Prima shabby treasures heart embellishment. I removed the long hair pin stems with craft pliers to use these beautiful pearl spray bridal hair accessories, to accompany the two large shabby craft flowers. Pretty lace trim can instantly jazz up any handmade card or craft project. This was a book lovers printed image, crumpled with distressed edges by using open scissors. I absolutely LOVE recycling used greeting cards and giving them a new life ❤️ This is one way I reuse them often especially for handmade Christmas cards to give to my family & friends. The easiest & quickest way to secure lace to your cards is by using a hot glue gun, especially on a part of it that will be covered up & hidden by topper’s & embellishments. For some reason I just cannot do to use recycling material on cards or boxes - I've tried but no it is just something I cannot do.
@@christinabotha5652 Yes I get that Christina ❤️ I think we get used to what we are comfortable with & we each have our own styles & ways of crafting 👍 many years ago when I started card making I couldn’t afford many craft materials as they were (& still are!) quite expensive, so I used to recycle all materials as much as possible in a way that didn’t spoil any designs. It became habitual after a year or two & now 30 years later its just second nature to recycle & reuse whatever I can 😃 It’s not everyone’s preference though ❤️xx

What a great idea. I have so many cards even cards that were sent to my grandmother over the years. I’m 66 so they are pretty old but beautiful. I’m a new subscriber.
