The crappie weren't doing much so I decided to play with the Livescope when a 10-11 foot gator exploded of of a bank into the water. I ended up with half an hour of footage on my GPSMap Helm recording but trimmed it down to the alligator finally moving and an ensuing short clip of the gator itself once it surfaced. The location is the Ross Barnett Reservoir in central Mississippi.

Pearl River in Central Mississippi on a warm foggy January afternoon. Using a 1/16th oz round head jig with a Panfish Assassin Tiny Shad jig body in Pumpkin Seed suspended below a 1/8th oz swivel sinker. I used a 12' Sam Heaton Super Sensitive Bottom Seat with a 13 Fishing Black Betty Ghost loaded with 30lb braid to the sinker with a 20lb fluorocarbon leader.

I have a couple of questions, does your motor have a360 turning radius? If so are you running an alternator and if so, how is your power ran
It had about 370° of rotation. The internal alternators of both the boat motor and the fan motor were connected to a stealth one on board charger.

Great idea, needs additional lateral support arm for rough waters like Lake Erie, etc. which could also translate to the thickness of the main post(s).
Will that string timmer head rust in Saltwater?

What kind of actuator are you running?
I think the brand was progressive automation or something like that. I'll check my computer later and see if I can figure out what speed and stroke it was.
I could watch this all DAY!!!!! Poster is that a Garmin 1042 XSV? Even if it's not is there a way to get that "Fwd Rng" Circle off the display? It drives me nuts on my unit and makes me want to trade it in. It's dumb and right in the way every time for me when trying to maximize my screen.

Won't say if upgrade will be released for 93sv. I think all models should get the upgrades.

It is a GPSMap 1222 Keyed. Which model so you have? I know the EchoMap Plus units were discontinued late last year so software updates are no longer being provided for them.

Are most of these shots from the front or side of boat and what type of bait where you using? Thanks for posting this.
They're from almost any and every direction. The sonar transducer is being aimed at the structure or fish using a rotating mounting pole steer by the end of a smaller pole in my hand. I adjust my rod direction and line depth according to what I see on the screen. In the video, you're seeing exactly what I was seeing on my graph to catch (and miss) the crappie. The jig I used is described above the comments.

This is a DIY pole from PVC, a 90° drill attachment, and a tent pole. I have since built another using a right angle gear box, carbon fiber shaft, and that same tent pole.

Great video! Which Garmin unit do you have?
That is the Garmin LiveScope sonar being displayed on a GPS Map 1222 Keyed. A fisherman is able to see what is occurring in the narrow beam the transducer is projecting in real time.

Yes, I was fishing submerged structure consisting of laid over trees and root balls in the Pearl River.

I'm glad somebody can catch a crappie in 43 degree water. Crappie on my home lake are on lockdown. Even the white perch stopped biting.
Crappie pretty much eat every day. They just are usually not as aggressive when the cold slows their metabolism. Just have to go light, have the right presentation, and be patient. The crappie are not competing against their fellow crappie. The prey has to make it very easy for them. You don't always feel the bite. Sometimes you have to go by what you see. Good news is, it's about to pick up!
