@mphoenos6795 Let him have his signature but it doesn't mean he has to play the same things everytime. He can improve and play different things while maintaining his signature. Take snikiwe mabaso for example

Sabu plays open hand a lot. Over the weekend I did see him play cross hand but on this video he does genuinely look like a left handed drummer , But even Robert sput searight does the same the difference is his a lefty

I’ve actually uploaded a video months ago on the characteristics of the Omar hakim snare . I basically tighten the snare wires and that essentially changes the projection of the snare. I just haven’t gotten around to release it yet. I’m considering redoing the video . But if you see it within the next few weeks / days then you know I proceed to make the video public . Hi Gavin Excellent choice with buying the Omar hakim . Honestly in My opinion the Omar hakim snare dimensions and wood choice is what an actual snare drum should sound and feel like . I’m always grinning when I play it 😏. Now to answer your question 🙋‍♂️: First of all the tune is not necessarily where I would personally want the tone . I really like the piccolo esk dry sound this drum produces. So I would definitely go a few clicks higher in terms of tone. I had to keep in mind that the engineers would prefer more tone so this is why I kept it at like a MID tune. With the snare wires loose ish . Because the drum was miced both on top and at the bottom. I’m looking at dropping a video of me playing my snare where I like it let’s see. Maybe I’ll drop something later next week. Heads 🥁 : The Top Head is a Remo - EMPEROR X Coated The Bottom Head is a Weather king Ambassador Snare clear head. I bought it just as it is . I only added a bit of muffiling on top because the head rings a lot . It just depends what tone or sound you want from it. I bought this because I want that dry pop/Crack with tone type of snare that makes me grin every time I play it. Here are snare heads I’m considering to get as replacement heads for the top . Evans - Genera Dry or HD Dry Remo - Power Stroke 3 or Coated Ambassador . If You want an all inclusive head that requires little to no muffling . The Calf skin from Evans is perfect or even the Onyx evans head is perfect . Hopefully this helped you with sound and drum head choices . Here’s my question to you . What skins do you have on yours ? I currently have an Evans g2 on it just a Tom head but sounds good I’m still messing around on tuning I got it like that but thinking also maybe a genera dry or sound control . I like it sensitive and snappy but not too ringy I currently have an e ring and tape but my practice room is quite bright . Greets from Cape Town 🙏
