So far, I am loving the story, the concept itself is intriguing. Your collection is amazing. I don't buy physical books anymore. Do you have an eReader ? How do you feel about them ?

i love how specific your organizations are and how it reflects what you're interested in when choosing books! advice for not buying books: i add books i want to read to Libby which is connected to my library so I can borrow them no pressure. i have over 500 books on there which is better than over 500 books crowding my room (although i wouldnt mind it too much haha) idk if libby is a US thing only though im very impressed by how many books you have and i hope you get to read them all and find joy in them. i definitely find joy in owning books haha

"I just don't understand why so many East Asian books have to have suicide in it" It's because suicide is an important social issue, especially in Japan. It's been ingrained into the culture for centuries, often seen as the honourable thing, especially following military defeat in the days of samurai. Nowadays there's economic pressures in business, which is just another way of figuratively falling upon one's sword. The society is generally tolerant of suicide. The suicide forest is even a curious thing that exists. This comment is in reference to Edogawa Rampo's 'Beast in the Shadows', which I read yesterday. Personally, I thought it an enjoyable read, very clever and nicely meta. I'm excited to read more by him. I do think the suicide in this - for what it is - was handled fine. The character in question had to be removed from the narrative in order for the point of the final chapter to work. That the character did it at all is practically the aesthetic of the culture.
