How to Crochet - Magic Knot
Learn how to make a magic knot with me.
If you’re enjoying my videos, then why not buy me a coffee ☺️ ko-fi.com/craftycruella
I'll show you a clever trick that means on a project that uses loads of colours, you'll have next to no ends to sew in!
You probably already know that you can use a magic knot mid row, to add another ball of yarn (in the same colour) but here I show you how to use the magic knot at the end of the row, when changing colour!
The blanket in the tutorial is my Tuscan Sunrise Blanket, It's available to purchase in my Etsy shop here - www.etsy.com/listing/1443160103/tuscan-sunrise-crochet-blanket-crochet

      Ah I’m sorry I didn’t show the back of the work, the back looks the same as the front as the yarn is incased within the stitches rather than carried across the back.

    Why did you choose to work with the hdc instead of the sc? Is it a personal choice?

    • @craftycruella
      @craftycruella 9 дней назад

      The designer of this pattern chose to use HDCs, some designers prefer the look of this stitch some use it because the piece works up quicker.

      If the pattern states HDC and has a picture on the design, I would use the stated stitch or you will distort the picture.

    This is an excellent video showing how to change colors, carry yarn and read the chart! I've always called this Intarsia Crochet, not Tapestry Crochet. Intarsia Crochet uses the bobbins. Tapestry Crochet works over the carried yarn. Could this technique be called Tapestry Crochet in the UK and Intarsia Crochet in the US? It looks like you're doing Tapestry Intarsia Crochet using both techniques together (using bobbins across the row and carrying the yarn in spots to use again). Thanks for the idea of using the organza bag for a bobbin!

    • @craftycruella

      Ahh I’m so glad you enjoyed it, I have spend many hours getting tangled myself, so now I like to crochet at a table (for colour work) I turn the work & then move each bobbin to untangle, and repeat for each turn. When you work like this you only lift them over a bobbin or two at a time so they never actually get really tangled. I hope this helps 😊

    • @craftycruella
      @craftycruella Год назад

      Hi, when I am finished with a colour, if I don’t need it again I cut it off leaving a tail, at the end when weaving in that end I like to weave a bit then tie a small knot to a stitch then weave again. Some people will just weave it in and some will work over the end until the tail runs out, but this is personal preference 😊

      Ah me too, tassels are another good use for ends! So far so good with the knots not coming undone, I do make sure I pull the extra tight. I use the method mid row too and have never had a problem with them coming undone.
