Get started with Python in Excel at ftdacademy.com/pymini
Sales forecasting is an indispensable tool for businesses, enabling them to make informed decisions about inventory management, resource allocation, marketing strategies, and financial planning. DST causes us to spend more money on electricity for air conditioning because of the heat because the sun is up longer, here in Texas until 830 or later at night. On standard time the sun is up after all, until 730 at night so you get plenty of daylight if you're working outside. But it sure does make it feel hotter longer. I would rather see daylight saving time abolished.

  • @johnjones8888
    @johnjones8888 8 месяцев назад

    I say keep it the way it is. It explains why it's dark at 5 p.m....... Plus, the government wouldn't spend the 434 million on us anyway. Probably just send it to Ukraine.

    We don't need it. I think that they keep lengthening it and using it just to try and get votes from the inner city for professionals who want to do their "fun things in the evening". 🙄 these "professionals" are so smart that they haven't even worked out that the days lengthen as we get closer to the summer solstice anyway and the days are long during the summer. So why does it make a difference to them if the sun "sets and "an hour later? And at the end of the day, how many of these professional inner-city jobs do we actually need for a society to function? On the other hand, we need farmers for our society to function. It's simple really. Without farmers, we don't get fed. So really, we should be placating at farmers considering that they are the hand that feeds us, and there's the old saying that you don't bite the hand that feeds you. Here in New Zealand where I live, every single farmer I have spoken to… And I have spoken to a lot of them… Hate daylight saving. So if it was up to me, we would just ditch it and stick to winter time which it always was, in order to pay Kate the farmers because farmers fetus. And as for calling it daylight savings? Well, I prefer to call it daylight slaving. As you can tell, I hate it. I know the Russians abolished it. Clearly there's some thinking people and some brain cells in Russia. Same with Japan.

  • @MagnumMuscle1000
    @MagnumMuscle1000 8 месяцев назад

    The whole idea of "saving daylight" is ludicrous. Shifting the time around saves nothing. It is annoying and silly, and apparently costly. Stick with one time and be done.

    We could switch to a 13 month calendar and simplify the world even more. It would put calendar companies out of business though because every month would be the same 28 days falling on the same days of the week. No need to look up dates because they're all the same. Complexity is job security I guess.

    Try living further North. The sunrise and sunset times flux much more than it does for you in the South. In Dallas hours of sunlight between June 20th and December 21st varies by 4:19. In Kansas City it is 5:30 and Minneapolis it is 6:51. Obviously, there are even bigger differences going further South or North. The impact of not changing between daylight and standard time are much more significant the further North you go. Personally, I'd rather have it lighter in the morning in winter and later in the day in summer, but that's just me.

    • @jayandrusiak
      @jayandrusiak 8 месяцев назад

      There is no point of it being lighter earlier. I’ve worked outside starting 7am the the last 7 years (Michigan) most places that do landscaping type of work have an hr of morning prep before we roll out. By that time it’s light out. Why does it have to get dark at 5:30 it’s ridiculous imo. By the time most are out of work it’s dark out.

  • @chlistens7742
    @chlistens7742 8 месяцев назад

    the further north you are the more the time effects you. right now sun rises at 7:08am and sets at 4:42pm. and on Dec 21 2023. sunrise is 7:56 and sunset is 4:22PM. I worked in the navy so you were at work at 7am and left work 3-4pm.. so winter was no sun for us and again for summer time.. jun 21 2023 5:13am sunrise and 9:12 pm sunset. so for me DST makes no real sense in the winter kids still went to school in the near dark and 9-5 workers ended up driving home at or right after sunset . It never made sense to me and it still dose not make sense. but now i am retired and the only think it changes for me is when i take my meds because i take meds at 4 times a day and we separate the meds so i have to actually change when i take them to keep the separation proper

    • @jayandrusiak
      @jayandrusiak 8 месяцев назад

      I agree, I work from 6am to 5pm. It’s dark when I leave for work and sun is setting on my way home. I mine as well work a night shift if I want to see the sun.

    Ben, the information is good but the over-production of the video is over the top. It distracts from your content more than it adds to it. Effects are too literal (HE SAID 'RABBIT HOLES, LET'S SHOW A RABBIT!) and often very loud (the typewriter effect is obnoxiously loud). Save some $$ and dial it back. Thanks for your content.

    I like INDEX MATCH as it is made up of two functions. The MATCH function is used to figure out where the lookup value is located in a range of cells. The INDEX function then returns the value or cell reference from within a table or range. The MATCH and INDEX functions are combined to do the job that VLOOKUP cannot do.

      No but you could build a macro or something that continually checks. I did this from an old vax terminal in 99 to do “real time” analytics for a call center.

  • @caddyzig

    Super handy! Short of copying and pasting before you update, is there a simple way to keep an archive of the previous values you collected online?

    • @ftdacademy
      @ftdacademy 11 месяцев назад

      You could build a macro to go grab the data and append it to a sheet with the date/time it was pulled. From there I’d add a formula that checked if the value changed and on a separate sheet that shows only the latest values include the updated date time
