Funny how China always claims at the same time that they welcome foreigners with open arms, but China ain't China when it's not lying. Anyway, this news is misleading. China is too arrogant to listen to the complaints of foreigners, otherwise, it would've changed this rule ages ago instead of now. China desperately wants tourists/expats/investors back. I lived in China for 13 years. Foreigners can only stay at foreign approved hotels. And if you visit and stay at your friends. You have to register as well. Such a hassle. Also, you have 72 hours to register when you get you place to live.
