    Hi, thanks for the great videos. I have a question, I have an engine bridge stratton world formula and I don't know which side the screw of the rosette with the clutch to the engine is loosened. Is there a normal or reverse thread? Thanks for the advice :).

    Back in the mid 1970 if We ran head temp 400 degrees, you would stick a kt100. We ran our Engine 375 degrees was the max. What is differant Today.

      The newer heads are die cast instead of sand cast. They read about 100 degrees hotter. Hope this helps.

    What do you guys charge for that type of clutch system its what i want and need for the type of go cart frame to run better and from what i hear it keeps unnecessary heat from the engine to the clutch. Also i just noticed that you guys are in Indiana and its where i just bought my 2 go cart kt100s i i have a feeling they might have seen your shop i noticed everything your talking about the blueprinting has been done to these kt100s and apparently the guy i got it from his dad used to race them 10 years ago. He said something about his dad having 2 of theses suckers on one go cart 😂

    What you need is to plant the right rear and, unless you get power to that wheel it’s not going to happen. What you need is a live axle kart.

    We race left rear Drive carts on dirt and a circle track this is only one wheel drive making right turns. Do you have any videos that can help me with set up my cart tends to want to roll over or turnover.

      Not sure what you are saying when you say the kart wants to “rollover or turn over”. Do you mean that literally?

      @@foxvalleykart2743 yes I mean that literally I go in the turn so fast that it lifts the right side but what I’m looking for is the cart to plant itself and drive around the turn without sliding or losing traction

    16-17 hp out of a 100cc is not much considering the fact that you make 14k rpm, most European engines produce around 28 hp.

      These Yamahas are piston-ported engines and do not produce the same hp as reed valve or rotary valve engines. Secondly, I have Dyno’d hundreds of engines of all types and our eddy-current Dyno is calibrated to NBS standards. I am absolutely confident that our numbers are correct. I see some engine builders who say their Yamahas produce 25-28 hp and some people are gullible enough to believe that. Made up or manipulated numbers are just that; made up or manipulated.       I’m absolutely not saying that you are lying, or doubting your numbers, but I know for sure that there are engines of the same displacement and doing the same rpm’s that crank out at least 50% more HP from a piston port engine, I don’t know what timing regulations and port width you are limited to, but I see so much more potential HP’s if you could use the full timing and port width potential, imagine what you could do on a reed valve or rotary valve induction system.

    We have a team that runs road course racing. Long tracks. I keep hearing people say you will go faster running a 16- 80 gear or 5 to 1 ratio instead or running a 13 -65 gear or 5 to 1ratio. I believe with the 16-80 gear you are moving more chain but I have been told that running both bigger gear makes more torque with the same ratio. I believe torque from gears that are the same ratio is the same as long as you are only using two gears to get your ratio. Am I wrong?

    Do I need a new carb if the gas is not traveling from the tank to the carb?

      Probably not. Maybe just a rebuild, but check to make sure you have the pulse tube connected properly.

    I still run a kt-100 it's a dying class sadly. Very cool video. My mentor said exactly all these things. But he never had a engine cut in half to actually visualize it.

    Hey John, I just purchased a grand prix gokart with a KT100 engine. I'm having trouble. With the throttle. the guy I bought it from says that the clutch is set for somebody that weighs 180 pound. I'm 140 pounds so he said it would need to be adjusted..

      The flywheel is the ignition rotor on the opposite side of the engine.

    My Experience: NEVER USE a woodruff key on a tapered crank PTO .. just lap it in really good, then torque it to spec, FULLY. The key only provide alignment, it does not increase the holding power of the taper lock. If your clutch spins loose, if a woodruff key is present, it may chip, crack or break off your crankshaft end!!! NEVER use those keys!!!

    As a none kart racer but a avid 2 stroke fan I'm amazed at the reliability of 100cc A/C engines and the revs they achieved. Could some one give me a idea of what the equivalent jet size would be if running a conventional carb to size ratio. Also any idea's on what the crank balance ratio would be, is vibration a problem?

    Have you ever seen a variable length pipe? One that nests, and can be shortened by ear as rpm goes up? I'd like to build a 2 stroke motorized bike that can maintain minimum highway speeds for hours. Would water cooling be necessary to run high rpms for hours on end?

      Yes, I'm familiar with adjustable-length pipes. We've used them for years on road-race karts. They are typically controlled by a hand-lever activated cable. As for running at highway speeds for hours, consistent cooling will be required, but can be accomplished with air cooling to avoid all the extra complexity of water cooling. It will be important, however, for the rider to be able to monitor the engine temperature and adjust the carb mixture to avoid overheating.

    I stumbled upon your channel a few weeks ago and decided to check it out. I’ve been finding out some interesting info. I didn’t know what kind of power plants you guys run on those racing karts until recently. The carb you’re talking about now reminds me of those old school Tillotson carbs we used to run on our snowmobiles back in the seventy’s. Kind of triggered a few memories…lol. Very cool and informative videos. I recently subscribed to check out more videos/info. Keep up the great work!

    Sir, is this a shifter kart? If it's not, then what's the clutch used for, if there are no gears to shift?

      Basically the clutch goes onto the jackshaft (I believe that’s the name) and that shaft is always spinning. The clutch basically only engages once the motor reaches a certain rpm automatically which makes spins the whole assembly causing the chain to start moving and powering the rear end. I probably did a horrible job explaining that, but I tried. If you still want to find out you should call John at Fox Valley Kart. He can explain it wayyyy better than I can.

      It's a kart racing clutch for non-gearbox classes (almost all kart racing classes),, it slips, allowing the engine to run at it's torque peak, until the clutch locks up. For most kart racing 2-stroke engines, that slip speed can be 9,000 to 11,000rpm.

    Nice work, can you provide con rod measurings? I believe it's has 20mm crank pin and uses 14mm piston pin, it's 100mm long, but I don't know the width on base on bearings ends
