FC3S RX7 gets Flyin' Miata Frame Rails
Miata parts on a FC RX7? "Nani!"
A long time ago I saw that someone on the RX7 Club Forum retrofitted V8 Roadster frame rails on the FC. Of course I wanted to try it for myself. If you aren't familiar with FCs, almost 99% of the cars have damaged frame rails due to improper jacking. I opted for the Flyin' Miata Frame Rails for the NA/NB Miata. Mostly because of the looks. The only issues I discovered were the mounting brackets for the fuel rails and brake lines. U.S Passenger side is way easier since nothing gets routed along that frame rail. Overall I'm happy with the fact that the car can now be supported on the frame rails. I'll eventually see if the X-Brace fits the car or not. But for...

Hoshiko FC3S gets Techno Toy Supension Upgrades

As my FC is on the back burner, we turn our attention and focus to Caleb's FC also known as Hoshiko. I had met with the Techno Toy team at a local old school japanese car meet in SoCal last year. I had mentioned to them that the FC chassis needed some love. I had also shipped them some oem and aftermarket parts for them to start R&D. A few months later BOOM! FC parts are now available. The cool...

We tear down my S5 NA 13B motor to have a look for ourselves. We had trouble getting the rear counter weight off along with the oil pan. Once we started disassembling the motor and exposing the rotors we realized that the coolant seals were toast. A lot of coolant within the combustion chambers, which was expected.
The AE86 gets JSP Billet 4 Links and Traction Brackets

Finally finishing up the rear suspension upgrades on the AE86. We ordered the JSP Billet 4 Links and Traction Brackets during the Black Friday Sale. Definitely worth the wait! The attention to detail on the upper links are second to none. The installation was straight forward with the only hiccup being the installation of the upper links agains the box section of the chassis. It was difficult t...
The AE86 gets Techno Toy Tuning Evolved Knuckles
Просмотров 9078 месяцев назад
Out with the old, in with the new. As I finish up overhauling all of the 86 suspension there was still one part of the suspension that was left to be addressed, the oem steering knuckles. Luckily Techo Toy Tuning has everything you could possibly need for the AE86 suspension. The great thing about the Evolved Knuckles is the ability to change the ackerman between a road race setting or a drift ...
The AE86 gets a JSP Billet Catch Can / Overflow Bottle

The AE86 gets a JSP Billet Catch Can / Overflow Bottle. Why?? So we could consolidate space in the engine bay! The bracket supplied offers some adjustability. This helps for those that welded on chassis reinforcement plates. JSP was nice enough to ship the part full assembled. The only issue we came across was the clearance between the oil drain and a -16AN fitting on our electric water pump. O...
Out comes the NA 13B on my FC RX7
Просмотров 39910 месяцев назад
The inevitable part of owning an rx7. My reliable NA 13B finally said i'm done. At first I noticed a few coolant weeps which eventually became small puddles of coolant under the motor. It would foul the spark plugs. The seals finally leaked to the point where we couldn't crank over the car anymore. I can't be mad. This motor had a good run. It was built by Lucky7 Racing back in 2011. Over 50K m...
The AE86 gets a Techno Toy Tuning Pandhard/Lateral Bar!
Просмотров 53610 месяцев назад
As we continue to refresh everything on this super old chassis it was finally time to install a Techno Toy Tuning Pandhard/Lateral Bar and Lateral Drop Mount. Pretty straight forward install. We just had to remove the old oem panhard bar. Then we needed to remove the US Driver side coilover so we could throw on one of the two lateral drop bar mount brackets. Then everything was just reinstallin...
AE86 Carbing Front Tri Bar Brace Install
Просмотров 53710 месяцев назад
The 86 gets a Carbing Front Tri Bar Brace! Most people aren't aware that the sheet metal on the 86 is paper thin. To compliment the Flo's reinforcement plates we welded onto the frame I decided to bite the bullet and purchase at Carbing front Tri Bar Brace. I've only seen pictures of this brace but never in person. At first it looked like we would have the slot the holes some more. But after ra...

The FC gets Chase Bays Goodies! (Brake Booster Elimination Kit & Clutch Master Cylinder)
Просмотров 745Год назад
I decided to swap out my OEM Brake Booster/ Brake Master Cylinder setup with a Chase Bays Dual Piston Brake Booster Delete with Bolt-On 6:1 Pedal Ratio. What sold me on the product was consistent brake pedal feel, a sectional fluid reservoir, and the compact design. The installation did require me to cut the firewall. My only issue with the product was a small creak when really pressing down on...

I built my own for my fc. (88 turbo 2) I connected the front sub to the rear sub with 3/16 cold pressed steel. I reinforced the floor and pinch points and welded the frame rails with 3” staggered beads. My cage is connected to the frame rails I installed. Completely different car when hitting the hard switch backs . I use a LQ4 with a Muncie 4 speed transmission and a Chrysler 2:65 diff with a full spool. Next I’m going to fit some gtr wheels with 275/35/20 front and 305/30/20 rear which means WIDE as HELL body kit that nobody makes so I will be doing some fiberglass work soon. As soon as I’m satisfied with everything I will be posting the entire build sheet with pictures/videos as the car will have it’s own page once finished. Not sure what I’m going to name her yet. She will be painted an old school Dodge color so she will be hard to miss. Panther Pink with dark bronze wheels.
According to the manual aren't you supposed to jack them up on the frame rails? I have a picture of it.
Reject society, return to Miata
Fun Fact: you can add an FC Air flow meter to a 1.6 Miata for a 5hp increase.
5hp at the crank, 0whp lol
We got Miata frame rails on an FC before GTA6 ?! 😮
Amazing man! I thought mine was a special case but now I see this is not unusual. Great work.
oh you wanna see actually bad frame rails!?
@@ScottiBans BOOOOOOYYYY I’ve seen them with my own eyes and lack thereof
❤
I am planning on doing this with my FC, but fab them myself. Good work. Love these videos!
Shoot might have to do this for my FC. The frame rails are so busted and I want to use my quickjacks on the FC.
🤝🏽🥰
Love the detail you guys went into to show how it mounts up. How thick was the foam you used for your bumper? Also silly question about the blade but the holes are already pre drilled for the tension cables, splitter quick release bracket, and support beam across? And last question, did you notice a difference with the diffuser tunnels?
@@yogondie on the racebred kit the holes were pre-drilled. On my custom set up I had to drill them myself. For the diffuser tunnels I can’t personally say. When my FC was running it never hit major speeds where I could notice a different. I’m sure it helps but then again I have an open air way underneath the fogs that brings in air and that air just gets stuck as it makes it way behind the wheel since I don’t have brake ducts
🤣🤣🤣🤣 “it’s been a while!” Staind
Btw in the video you say the psm knuckles means you loose caster .why do they fo that ?
It could be due to the orientation of the knuckle itself in particular the section that bolts to the strut. It's been a few years but I recall taking the car to an alignment and noticing the reduction in caster. Then when I went back to get another alignment (post supernow bushings) I gained some of it back.
Hey .do you drift or grip race .I'm keen on these and also wanted to ask about your experience with the part shop max spindles re ackerman altereation .how does the car drive (i will grip race my car) anything weird about them ? also how harsh are the spherical super now's for road driving?
I do grip driving. The steering gets really fast. Ackerman gets reduced but not to zero so still good for road courses. Inputs are precise and reduce the amount you have to move the steering wheel. The supernow bushings feel real good. Great feedback at the wheel. The bushings did add some caster.
@@Gabrielized. ok cool .but are your lower ball joints extended? For more track and camber ? That will make the steering faster aswell
@@darbet83 I have a custom set of ball joints to accommodate the additional roll center correction that is built into the PBM knuckles
Thank you again for great content and bringing new products to light. Once my build is complete i may come back and revisit the Front LCAs with these from Techno Toy. I've been searching high and low for a solution for the front end geometry. I may buy the steering rods sooner than that though. They look excellent and i would like a little more length since i also have the spindles from max parts. Cheers
Whats the long term review of that Chase Bay Booster elimination? Is it a ton of work to brake now?
@@supradoom it does take significant effort for regular street driving. On track the first few laps threw me off but I quickly got a gauge for the pressure required to brake according to the output that I wanted. Overall I really like the set up. My only complaint is a small creak somewhere in the assembly. I guess it’s from all the force being exerted to the brake pedal assembly. It’s not load but on slow breaking you can feel it just a tad. Nothing I can’t live with.
You should look at getting a brake stopper or brace to the master cylinder to stop the firewall flex
@@darbet83not a bad idea actually. I’ll have to have some designed and fabricated. Nothing too crazy. Unfortunately the stuff on the market is for the oem master cylinder and for some damn reason only for RHD cars
@@Gabrielized. that is because they are made for/by the Japanese as they love bolt on mods like that .i have a cousco one and it made the brakes feel more positive especially under harder braking . Easy enough thing to fab up
Sold me 😅
Think there would be any issue running these with GTX2 Lower Control Arm's?
So far no issues. We are running that combo on Hoshiko (the white FC)
So would you recommend the rear camber arm/link from Techno over partsshopmax? Why/Why not? I'm going with the whole partshopmax catalog besides drift related components.
If you want negative camber then yes it’s much longer which allows you to tilt the subframe more. If you’re going full PBM bushing you will have to loosen the diff and subframe bolts. Then adjust the center link length followed by torquing down the diff and subframe again
@@Gabrielized. I think I'm going for more of a street car at this point. Don't need negative camber ATM.
@@supradoom then the PBM center link will be enough adjustability. The PBM small jangle links nearly zero out negative camber. I recommend the ronin links instead.
So very cool. Need these on my FC
All the links are in the video description
Awesome video explaining install. Grabbing a set. Any reason for not grabbing the beefed up 14mm tie rods?
We had bought the super now 3 way adjustable tie rod end links way before techno toy had produced their own.
Dope!
Very cool !!
Let's see - should I add a livery to this FC? 👀
@@KrazyKorean28 Yes! Lets do it
thanks for this, doing God's work for FC content
It ain't much but it's honest work
sick upgrade, about how much was everything?
For the TechnoToyTuning parts only that were installed on the video (LCAs, Rear Camber Link, and Sway Bar End links) totaled to about $900 before shipping. For all the other parts like PBM parts, Cusco Brace, SuperNow stuff, FortuneAuto coilovers, RoninSpeedworks camber link master set, Mazda Competition bushings, and Racing Beat Sway Bars, I have another 4400 dollars invested in the suspension setup. It's a lot and not for the feint of heart financially, but it's the most complete suspension setup for aftermarket bolt ons only and it is the ultimate setup for track use.
@@KrazyKorean28 oh okay nice my suspension is mostly Mazda comp rear subframe bushings, Rb sway bars & end links, pbm camber adjuster, rear links & toe adjusters but I’m probably gonna get those technotoytuning Lca’s cuz they’re so adjustable probably get the rear camber links and sway bar links as well lol
I can only imagine Caleb's position when filming under the car 😂. Dedication for the shot!

Still waiting on wings, beer, and Laker Game invitation
very thorough and detailed video
Hi! Do you have any clearance issue with brake master cylinder reservoir? And what did you do? Thanks and nice car
Yes I do actually. I had to loosen the strut bolts a little to remove the cap and fill the fluid. This issue will be addressed once I go with the chase bays BBE kit
Thanks
Fastest way is to drill a new 3rd hole and put a rivet nut
I guess you could do that too though now racebred offers a specific FC bracket so that solves that issue.
Thank you for the vids. I got the psm spindles and e-powersteering now.
Glad I could be a bad financial influence 😂😂
Such a beautiful FC. Just purchased an 87 FC turbo in and bronze TE37 are on the top of my wheel list.
Solid choice!!
designed to be used without RCA'S?
They work with roll center adjusted provided by different manufacturers like Fortune Auto. Only reason I’m not using the RCA block is because the GTX control arm also provided some roll center adjustment. With the RCA block I would have too much roll center adjustment and will make contact with the wheel (I did with my previous wheels: Celica Supras)

Is the lateral rod drop necessary? I ordered the breeze panhard rod off battle garage’s website
From my understanding it prevents the axle from moving excessively. It essentially keeps the axle centered under load.
thanks
thanks finally some info on these
Engine looks mint, that thing has held quite well
Everyone checked out good. There were some chatter marks on the housings. They could have been reused but we just swapped in a fresh good set of FD housings and redid the porting
So the next time we see your FC running it will be Turbo ? 👀
Absolutely!
Watched the whole video. No doritos inside the engine. Now I’m disappointed AND hungry!
Very nice tutorial on the JSP 4 links. Nice work, great video!
How does the chase bays brake booster delete feel during braking?
It was a consistent feel on every lap. It did take me a few laps to get comfortable with the braking pressure. Overall I'm super happy with the way it feels on track.
Great Install Video!

Nice!
Have the same problem on my AE86, the bar doesn't line up. I'll try your tip on lifting one side up.
Hey can you do a review of these? Was debating about them as I have all T3 stuff but stock knuckles. Let me know how they feel
Initial impressions. It did get easier to steer the wheel but it’s still isn’t power steering. I’m on a manual rack. I’ll know more after the next track day.
Thanks for letting me know. Do you have the quick rack by Flo's or just stock manual rack? I too am on the manual rack so I'd be interested to hear more. @@Gabrielized.
Man! I installed on my fc and I didn’t bend that part and I think the rod was going in crooked. The cylinder had some play to it and would go in crooked so it got damaged. Now I have to see if they will sell me a new piece
Damn that's terrible to hear! The rod is replaceable. I had my dad look at it, he has over 50 years of experience with brake boosters and master cylinders.
Excellent video.
