Ooooh, I didn't know they have an anniversary box! I saw the Sakura Gansai paint one recently, but not the coupy pencils.

I ended up giving my set away. The Caran d'ache and Staedtler ones were just better, in my opinion. No stink to them either 😆

I don't know why they did that order. Sadly, unless you press very hard, the only two colors that show up are the red and purple.

That may play into it for sure. I'm in NC, so we definitely have the humidity here. But sometimes, I wonder how the product was stored (especially when ordering off Amazon) and if that has changed it. For watercolor products in general, I have to use a hair dryer if I don't want to wait until the next day to finish the piece lol. But when I lived in AZ, I remember paint dried in less than an hour. Crazy difference!

The paper I used is very generic watercolor paper. It doesn’t agree with many things, lol. But now that you mention the paper, I do remember using them on regular sketchbook paper when I first got them, and they did blend smoothly. Although this was 2 years ago and I suspect they're a tad drier than when I first bought them too. I have a Soho mixed media sketchbook (seen in other videos) that I use a lot. I haven't used it for gelatos because I wasn't sure if the gelatos would smudge in it. I used some gel crayons previously (without water), and those just left a mess on the opposite page like soft pastels or charcoal would. Even after drying! I was trying to avoid that again because I like using both paper sides in that sketchbook.

I initially invested in the 15 crayon pack because I wanted to try them out before spending a ton of money. Really loved them, so I went to for the big box lol. I'm hoping to have some time in the next few weeks to do videos on some other brands that I purchased that are also good quality, but not as pricey.

I bought a lot of singles from the art store before I purchased a fuL set, I also have the Lyra Crayons, those are nice as well, not as expensive as Neocolors but u can’t buy them open stock.

I love when brands have open stock options, so you can try a few or just buy the colors that you use the most. Unfortunately, my experience with Lyra was not good. But I think that I may have been sold a very old set!

I'm not sure. The back of the kraft paper looked like parchment paper after baking buttery cookies on it! From what I was reading, even watercolor paper does better if primed first. Oil products feel a bit high maintenance to me with all the preparation. One of the reasons I got into acrylic painting was because I just wanted to get straight to the painting part 😆 . But I do have some pastel paper somewhere and will dig it out and see how that goes!

@@LostWhispersArtOh, writing late - I of course meant t*h*anks 🙂 And thank you for saving me from the trouble of having a ruined picture on kraft paper. I guess I'll use newsprint paper to just "scribble out some frustration or anger" and fold a gabage bag out of it afterwards. And for "real art" I'll use other materials. Again, thank you for your help and the interesting video
