Просмотров 4402 года назад
This presentation explores the "dual problem member" (i.e. alcohol and other drug addiction) and "straight addict" in Alcoholics Anonymous in the late 1940's and 1950's. Central to this presentation is the story of Betty T. and the Habit Forming Drugs Group of A.A., which ultimately leads to Bill W. writing "Problems other than Alcohol: What Can Be Done About Them" for the February 1958 issue o...

These guys are great- just saw them in DC- thanks for the effort
Thanks for doing all this research
Q, In reference to the sometimes cotroversal topic of "Did NA begin in NYC or Southern Cali", can any one verify if either organizations ever registered with the govntmt as a non profit under the NA name? If so , who did it first? Im just interested in facts, not looking to cause seperation or negativity.
Wow, what a great presentation
This is Jeff be from Milwaukee Wisconsin I had met Carmelita in Florida in 1981 at the world convention.
"Addicts today are much more fortunate"
1984…The tape. Gene H was being interviewed by Jimmy. Who was Gene H? Can you please provide some information. I heard he was a great guy!
Gene H. got clean in NA on March 21, 1962. His story, The Vicious Cycle, was in the Basic Text until the 6th edition. He passed away July 10, 2015, with 53 years clean.
This is a very good video 100 everybody should watch it but keep in mind Wilson was a womanizer with a big ego like all of us he always kept signing things Bill Wilson 0 the rest of us must be anonymous but not bill
Bill Wilson isn't the angel we thank him to be
If you read the early history of alcoholics anonymous still got on his knees that's good help to write chapter 5 you need to give credit Hank Parker's was a big part of getting the big book written Bill Wilson screwed Hank out of his girlfriend Ruth Hawk and any copy right on the big book.
Bill Wilson copyrighted the big book and made money on it . Since that time people have given him credit for writing the big book.
Obviously just another hagiography of NA.
was here, unless my brain snaps back , just had my first biologiccal impairment from medicine most likely, dont have frendz , get unComfortably close with family., aattending for 8 yrz........
This is fantastic. Thank you so much for this. Grateful recovered addict x
Glasgow NA fellowship meetings started in St Luke's Church of Scotland in the Calton area in 1989 and sadly the local community relations and the police didn't allow the very first NA meeting to begin and it was another two years in the city centre area know as Charing Cross at paddy Mullen's clinic is where the second roots began and you can say now that the rest is history for the fellowship of Narcotics Anonymous in Glasgow Scotland UK . . there's plenty of work to be done all over the rural areas in Scotland as it's mostly the central belt areas which includes Glasgow and Edinburgh and Aberdeen Dundee which is well established so , hopefully we can grow up and down and in and out everywhere in Scotland . .NA fellowship is well established with in the world wide fellowship of Narcotics Anonymous thankfully
Men’s retreat
The Basic Text saved my life! When I came to the fellowship here in Norway, we didn't have any books translated yet, but a 5th. Edition Basic Text from the US did give me everything I needed to understand that I wasn't alone! Thanks to everybody who made this book possible! <3 GOD LOVES US NOW! <3
HISTORY 😂🎉😂🎉DRUGS R HERE BECAUSE PEOPLE USE THEM😂🎉😂🎉😂
Please note that the date of Jimmy K.'s passing is incorrectly stated as July 10, 1985. The correct date is July 9, 1985.
Are they trying to be joe and Charly?
Was hoping to get some clarity on the whole first, second and third basic test issue that came about. Things being added in last minute that weren't unapproved etc. I'll have to keep digging through the internet! This was a really great presentation though! So gratefully that these people who came before me put the work in to create the program that has changed so many lives, including myself.
@justinVollrath Same here. I like the Grey book text a lot, and I wonder if it is "purer" Narcotics Anonymous. In many ways, it does not matter, but our direct experience has to mean something.
NA is a cult 😂😅Programing happens at meetings 😂😅WOW Murder & killing of a member in the NEWS 😂😅
Are there any tapes of Danny C speaking?
We have not found any audio or video of Danny C. We recently found audio of Dorothy Berry speaking about him in a 1970 interview. This shows that more may be discovered as more archives are digitized. www.wnyc.org/story/salvation-army-approach-to-the-narcotics-problem/
Can anyone tell me how many copies of the basic text have been sold. The big book is 37 million but can find a number on the basic text.
It's over 9 million
@@hallucinatingsiren Thank you
Fantastic history of basic text. Made me cry seeing what sacrifices were made by early members to find recovery
It's still a religious conversion program... No real therapy involved nothing more than a ""Boot camp"" for sociopaths
Exactly!
😪 Promo-SM!
Very good presentation!!! Keep giving information to learn all about this fellowship 😉
This was a great day!
Thanks for sharing this.
It is a fascinating history! Sacrifices, enthusiasm, and joy. This presentation makes me appreciate the Book even more. Thank you.
Awesome!!!!
So beautiful, thanks to the founder Jimmy k, for allowing us to share and motivate Na traditions to other recoverying addicts like ourselves. Also for the willingness to not give up on NA when it was about to die. You guys held on and started practicing the step works it self and became role models to other addicts who was washing. I been 30 days clean🙏😔 had to admit to a power grater then myself in step 2. Before I went to step 3, and let the Care of God take control. #Bryantrogers #crackbaby #rehab 🔓🔐
Happy Anniversary NA
You could always ask Vito for more info about Rae
This is truly remarkable of getting back to basics. Thank You
The information here was a blessing for me, i am searching on our similarities and connecting with people. This truly has helped me understand why it has been difficult. Great information!!
Outstanding, just to let you guys know that there is now an NA meeting in Paisley where Jimmy was born. Full circle.
Thank you for putting all this interesting information together.
2 Listeners.....Get the book "God Calling" by AJ Russell. This was the premise for A/A 24 hrs a day book. This book was written by 2 anonymous women, the word is , Christ himself spoke to these women 1 day at a time and they wrote each days parable down.......
Thank you so much for all your help and support and encouragement to me.
"An alcoholic has no interest in narcotics." Then takes LSD. Funny how people try to keep that a big secret. Idol worship. Thanks for the great presentation. It's all very accurate with other accounts including the book Miracles Happen.
Alcohol is a Narcotic lol
The thing that really gets me is the people who literally say that the first hunnertnsixtyfor pages of the bigbook are literally the world of god & can never be changed. Same w/ the 12 & 12, I believe. Which is eventually going to present its own 3rd Tradition problem.
"An alcoholic has no interest in narcotics" Iv'e never heard that before, where's that from?
So what if he took LSD. I'm a recovering addict. I'm grateful to Bill W.
first of all great job i love what youve done here i saw this presented in chicago at the regional convention in jan 2019 but im wondering what about the basic text / literature history presentation that i saw as well in chicago ,....... why isnt it posted ?
Thanks Kevin. This is Boyd Pickard. Chris and I will be having "A History of the Basic Text " PowerPoint recorded that the end of September 2019. It should be ready for publishing on You Tube first of 2020. Thanks for asking.
This is great! Share this with every member!
Chris did a great job going solo at PACNA this year
