Also , go to the modern side of Puebla as well !! ..
Puebla is amazing! Unesco heritage city.
I spent 3 1/2 months last winter driving around central Mexico. I spent about 2 weeks in the Puebla city metro area. I like Puebla. I’m leaving Northern Maine in a couple weeks driving back to Mexico for 5 1/2 months. The lack of town squares in the US, is what’s lacking here. Historic Central Puebla is a great place to spend the day.
Awesome! Are you heading back to Puebla? We drove from Canada, crossed the border through Piedras Negras - Eagles Pass. Have you driven before?
@@realmxco No I haven’t crossed at Eagle Pass. In 2009 I was getting ready to cross the border at Brownsville on a solo motorcycle tour of Mexico. I just happened to run into a couple that told me they go down into Mexico all the time on their motorcycle. They told me not to cross at Brownsville but instead go to McAllen and cross there. So I did, and it was simple. That’s why I crossed there last year and will again this year. They also told me to cross with a full tank of gas and don’t stop for 200 miles. 😃 I don’t have any set plans. I’m following my instincts. But I do plan on making Leon my first major destination because I need new shoes and Leon is leather/shoe capital. After that I do plan on wondering over to Morelia / Patzvuaro area. Eventually I’ll probably end up in Puebla for a while but everything is open. If you go to Puebla, don’t hang around the area north of there. Around Tenancingo. There’s a documentary on it called Pimp City. Sounds like the whole town is corrupt. Last winter I was driving back to Puebla after going to Pachuca which I didn’t like. Too hard to drive in. It was late and I was tired so I pulled off the road in what looked like a safe place to sleep. About 2am I had 3 cops banging on my window. To keep this short, they ended up trying to extort $50 from me. It took me about 15 minutes to get it through their heads, I wasn’t giving them NOTHING! They finally gave up and waved me on. It was after the fact, that I realized I was in or near Tenancingo. Of the 3300 miles in country on my motorcycle and 5000 miles last winter in country with my car that was the only time I ever had any trouble in Mexico. And in both trips I was in some very small remote towns.

Have you ever had birria before?
I thought he was going to say the bourbon! 😅 This is a cool little video though. I think I needed to hear his answer as well.
I spent the month of March in Ixtapa. Some great musicians down there!
Music is such a huge part of Mexican culture! I love it! Have never been to Ixtapa - what was the best thing about it?
@@realmxco the freedom loving expat community! I was kind of checking it out as a plan B but I’m 75 now so it wouldn’t be an easy adjustment.
