I am so glad you asked! I've actually been thinking It would be a good idea to do a video on some of the different formulas. 🤔 Let me know if that sounds of interest to you 😊 I, too, had thought Syrup was more of a label used in certain regions, but that's not quite the case, even though different brands may still use different labels. So a Jelly or Glass gel is typically completely see through with a color Tint. When you layer it up the color will get stronger and more intense, but for the most part it's still pretty much see through, even with many, many layers. A syrup on the other hand is semi translucent like a milky color, closer to a Sheer, but with a bit more color. I would place a Sheer gel between a jelly and a syrup. With a syrup the first layer is often nearly see through, but not quite. The more layers you use, the more the color builds and the more opaque it becomes. Depending on the gel after a number of layers (usually 3+) it could be entirely opaque, but often still holds that translucent looking quality, making it really ideal for a natural looking French tip nail bed. A Sheer on the other hand is going to take a few more layers for that and may never be FULLY opaque, no matter how many layers, but it will still be harder to see through than a glass or jelly and should have that same translucent quality. Syrup Gels often blend seamlessly into each other for beautiful ombres and depending on the colors used, more natural earthy looks. In my experience, I have found that depending on the brands their Syrup Gels can vary somewhat. Like, I swatched a Mayour Syrup Collection that I felt to be more sheer, closer to a jelly color than a syrup, as it had more of that see through quality than milky look. Other brands have seemed a little too opaque to me, and are more like a Cream than a syrup. So there is certainly some wide variations to the terminologies.

Because I have such a large polish collection I was really resistant to the whole gel thing. About a year ago I finally gave in because I had to admit to myself I did not like acrylic, nothing about it really. Now I have all kinds of gel - for structure, painting and art but I'm just figuring it out. I know there are probably all kinds of videos explaining the different kinds - but you totally have a knack for explaining things and I think it would be great if you did a video.

@blueclarity Thank you so much 🥹 ❤️ I'm often told I over explain things, and it can be really hard for me to condense things to just a few words 😂 I'll keep that formula video in mind because I've been tossing it around for a few months now and thought it might be a really good idea. I just have more ideas than time, lol. I had well over 500 Cream gels before I started realizing that there were so many other formulas out there (besides specialty ones like glitters, cat eye, etc) and that I might really prefer to work with some of them. I've since added a few hundred Sheers and Syrups and am finding that I do often prefer them to Creams. They don't "Have" to be the expensive Korean brands either. I've been swatching some really nice AliExpress brands that are great Syrup formulas as well. 🤩

@Erica_In_AmERICA I'm in Canada, Ontario, not far from Toronto, and most orders take around 2-3 weeks, with some items arriving in as little as 1 week. I find that when I have much larger orders from many different sellers, often, 1 of the items won't ever arrive and that can be a let down, but I've never had an issue getting a refund in those cases. I like using AliExpress more than Shein or Temu as it seems that in Canada, the selection is more limited from them. Items I see people getting in the USA are often not available to me, and there are just so many more options on AliExpress for me.

@alyshadanyelle Thank you! I'm so glad to have helped. I have another set swatched that I have to get uploaded soon as well. I use an assortment of lamps depending on what I'm working on and have never had issues with curing from any of them. Right now, I have 3 different lamps I generally use. My ancient 18G Gelish, an Elio from Madam Glam, and a huge double size Unbranded one I got off AliExpress for working on Press Ons or large swatching sessions. I have a review of that one on my channel.

I bought quite a few collections for amazing prices, so I can't complain too much, but the formulas I find are hit and miss. Some of them were great and well worth it, others were a little disappointing and more like a discount brand than what I expected from a Korean gel. I haven't seen the pearl colors, though. I'm glad they were a good one!

It really did! It gave it so much extra movement it was cool. I just struggled with the composition of the waves and where each of the color effects would be most realistic. I was decently happy with how it turned out, but I feel I need to study the way waves look better for next time, lol.

That sucks 😕 Do you not have access to AliExpress, or is it just that seller won't ship to Germany? If it's the latter, check for other listings with that brand, as I have seen it from multiple sellers. Even on Shein or Temu maybe. They just might not be as cheap.

Thanks 🥰 You won't be disappointed, I'm sure of it. There are so many options to choose from, and they are just so user-friendly. I'm truly fascinated with them, lol. I checked around a few sites, and it looks like the Dino Gel might be sold out most places. It's too bad if it's discontinued cause it was a really nice low-cost Flower Gel that is more on the subtle side with not a ton of Flower specks. I do like the look of the Cottage Core Collection from Bevlah. It looks as though it might have a bit more flakes of stuff in it, but that could just be the samples that I've seen are really layered up, I'm not sure. I tried a few Flower Gels out from discount brands and did not like using them at all, but there could be others out there that are better 🤔

I was never really a fan myself either. I think mostly because in the past, I've seen sets that were either more of an art statement (fantastic, but not practical to wear) way too cutsey for my taste, like the big charm bows, bears, hearts, kawaii characters, etc, or kinda over the top gaudy. Some might still see these like that, but personally, I feel like they hit the mark without crossing too far into any of those categories. 🤔

Thanks 🥰 I found that using the polish to make the molds was really not that tedious. By the 3rd one, I was knocking them out in no time. It certainly is a more time-consuming project, though, since even if I get them down to 5+ mins a piece, making 5 of them is still gonna take 30+ mins and that's just the embellishment part of the nails. The set went up today, and I am SO thrilled with how it turned out 😍

That's awesome! What sorts of designs do you have? Do you find them really easy to use? I'm really loving the idea of creating sets AROUND the mold designs, as opposed to mold charms that are something that you ADD ON to the design you're doing. If that makes sense.

😂😂😂 Your anxiety was absolutely right!!! I cured my application brush 🙄🤪 Thankfully it wasn't really bad, and I was able to clean it up with some acetone. I noticed part way through that it had gotten a little too close, lol. Thank you ❤️ 😊 I can't take credit for the design idea as I got it from Doris Nail Art Room (they have amazing cat eye and aurora chrome designs on their IG), but I LOVE how they turned out! 🎉 😍 I'm a massive fan of Opal designs as well, so rock those babies!!! 🥰

Thanks so much for watching and asking :) Primer on the full tip will help the first layer of polish stick to the plastic tip for better adhesion. When doing chrome, pigments, full coverage water decals or foils, it will help adhesion to give the edge a light filing to remove anything besides polish from the edge and then the primer will help the next layer of polish stick better as it will make the edges extra sticky to help seal it all in. Ideally you want to get the primer just around the edges (the same as you seal the free edge with your topcoat), not completely underneath the nail. Without the filing or primer around the edge, the next layer of gel might be just floating on top of the chrome powder and not fixed very well to the actual nail, leaving it open to easily chipping. Another example to use primer is polish sticks well to polish, they are made to seal together (most brands anyway, lol). When you put a sticker onto the polish, the next layer will seal well where the polish is, but it doesn't stick quite the same where the sticker is, because it's not made to seal to that material. In worst case scenarios, the top coat can chip and lift easier over stickers or anything else that's not polish. By swiping a bit of primer across the sticker, you've now given it a sticky layer for the polish to stick to better and it is more likely to properly seal it all in. It's really all just for longevity, so that those who can be really rough on their nails, aren't as likely to get chipping and lifting in those areas.

I'm sorry to ask you further, but I'm curious about the best sticker process. Do you wipe sticky layer before applying stickers? I think I made the mistake of not doing that too :(

@@rutsudog Don't ever apologize, keep the questions coming! I personally wipe the inhibition layer before putting on stickers, mostly because I find they can slide around on me while I work and get frustrating and slimey. Once they are rubbed down well, I swipe a little primer over them before the next coat.

Hahaha, I hear that! I've just given in to the nail art gods and nothing else in life (besides my dogs) seems to be worthy of my money! You could try to create a similar effect with glass/jelly colors and a regular silver cat eye if you've got them.

I was actually surprised at how quickly the thick one self leveled. I was expecting to have a lot more time to work in my wave pattern before having to cure. I'm really glad I only got the small bottles cause I think I'll still be on the lookout for a no wipe that takes much longer to self level. Other than my expectations, they worked really well though, so I'm happy with the product all the same.

As a new nail tech I developed a severe allergy to HEMA after barely a year of setting up my nail studio. I was never able to wear gel polish again and put my nail career aside for many years as there was little information back then regarding allergies. A few years ago allergies started coming out as a major issue for many techs as well as new information on how to safely work with the products. I came to realize that while I couldn't apply gel products directly to my nails, I could make press ons to wear and they wouldn't trigger my allergy. This is why my nail creations are never on my own nails and always on press on tips. I've been doing nail art with press ons for a few years now, but It's been almost 10 years since I've worked as a nail tech, so I'm basically a newbie when it comes to extensions, lol.
