You know it's normally Starfleet who comes with fantastical bullshit weapons, or as writers call it; plot armor. It's nice to see the bad guys come up with something too. However I didn't like it in the end when the weapons platform couldn't hit a broadside of a barn. It kept missing the Defiant or just let the ship pass through. BS flag! It should've had no problem turning the Defiant into mince meat because those platforms destroyed half the task force without breaking a sweat. There is one scene that irks me to no end, and thats Major Kira take command of the Defiant. Starfleet went out of its way to keep Bajor neutral, but lets Kira engage in battles breaking the neutrality. several times. Why even bother? Dominion then should've leveled Bajor. I always that was a major plot hole. Letting Major Kira take command of your ship is like letting a FOREIGN NATIONAL take command of a USN destroyer, and Bajor is not even a member of the Federation. Granted if the show's writers were forced to use common sense then Nana Visitor would have nothing to do. It's not like she can take charge of the station while Sisko is away.

This was the day Starfleet decided to switch off all their shields.

I hated seeing those cursed weapon platforms laying waste to the Klingon, Romulan and Federation ships!

When Star Trek battles became Star Wars battles

Starfleet always seems to have plenty of Miranda class starships on hand, just like The Dukes Of Hazzard and CHiPs always had plenty of Dodge Monaco cars on hand for destruction. I wonder if those ships still exist in the 32nd century.

What class is that Federation ship destroying one of the platforms at 03:04? You can see it just under the Galaxy class and then again when the fleet moves victorious towards the system.

As for a lot of DS9 battles they seem to ignore the existence of shields on Federation ships completely. How can single shots directly cause hull damage like on the Galaxy or the Akira class?

Really enjoyed this adpect of star trek, just wished they didn't use the same battle scenes over and over, those poor klingons at the start died multiple times

What got me into DS9 wasn't watching from the start and how different Sisko was from Pi-card, but I found this episode later on VHS and saw all those "Reliants" and "Excelsiors" and "Enterprises" and wondered what was that?

They showed this back on ST DS9 on CBS years ago but they removed this part of the battle on the (Heroes and Icons) channel, on the Heros and Icons channel when the Shape Shifter Queen gets healed by melding with Odo she then declares the end of the war and so they never show this part of the battle.

I never got this, why would the factions with cloaking not share it so everyone could come in cloaked or more so they just not use it to his ships to allow for a better tactical advantage overall???

3 years before the dominion war Utopia Planitia shipyards overseer: Admiral we are ready to phase out the old miranda and excelsior classes. The yards are ready to begin mass producing Akira, Norway, Steamrunner, and Defiant ships. Coordinating with other shipyards We can even phase out and replace them at a pace which doesn’t impact our fleet responsiveness, and be ready if the outbreak of war takes places in the next few years. Chief of Starfleet command: naahhhh keep the mirandas and excelsiors everything will be fine.

I never did like Star Trek battles. They always put morons in charge, and they always drop their shields (except for the stars of the show who always have plot shields).

I don't understand why they didn't build ships or attack drones like those weapons platforms where a central ship is supplying the power and the attack drones are doing their work.

It’s a bit stupid how easily these weapon platforms can destroy a ship in like one shot.

Anyone else think the jem hadar were wastìng ships on the klingons? I mean 1 ship took out a big klingon warbirds head, why waste a 2nd ship on the back of the ship, it werent going anywhere?

I know canonically the Enterprise D was destroyed by now, but in my head canon I like to think that the Galaxy-class ship leading the charge at 3:04 is the Enterprise with Picard and Riker on the bridge overseeing the final victory.

Klingons immediately noticed the Jem Hadar going on suicidal runs on their primary ships. So they went on full defense attacking their ships

Now if only they came up with that idea before losing hundreds of ships . 🤣🤣 🥴

The Cardassians pumping out these seemingly invincible weapon platforms always irked me. They were the least advanced or capable of the big 4 powers in the alpha quadrant. There’s somewhere between none-&-zero percent chance they’d be making weapons this effective, and impenetrable. Platforms the size of a car, taking out Romulan warbirds the size of a city? Nah, not buying it.

The limitations of budget and time really watered down what this story arc could have looked like. I can’t stand how fragile all ships seem to be. While we watch the hero ships take 100 hits any other week.

I like how an Excelsior and two Mirandas are taking part in the assault on the Asteroid, getting a measure of revenge for their lost Sister-Ships.
