How to do pin 7 mod Lcruiser 2003 = selectable difflock low gear
This modification allows selectable difflock in Low gear on Landcruiser wagon 2003. Original setting is fixed difflock. I wanted the option to drive at low speed with no difflock.
A previous video described the method - but after it had been done. ruclips.net/video/9b5Fc-f5kww/видео.html
Essentially all you do is disconnect pin 7 from the Transmission relay. In practice it was difficult because of the very tight space around the connector. This shows step by step what I did.

Making violins from seaweed
Просмотров 1942 года назад
Emily Sheppard is on the left in the duet, Marlane Bennie on the right (and playing at the end, Emily plays the final piece). Both are professional violinists. Tasmania has some of the largest kelp in the world and Emily is also an honours candidate in Hobart studying ecological use of seaweed. Emily made a kelp soundbox for the amplifier chain for her violin at a festival a year ago when a mut...
Bose Quiet comfort ear buds falling out - fixed forever!
Просмотров 12 тыс.3 года назад
Bose Quiet comfort earbuds are great - I can use an angle grinder and listen to a classical music. But...they fall out. Despite all the tutorials and instructions...they fall out. Read the forums and ... they fall out. Probably not with everyone, but with my ears they just don't work. My solution is to mould silicon putty into my ear and enclose the earbud ear-hook. It doesn't look pretty, and ...
Simple cheap effective blade sharpening
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.3 года назад
This is a sharpening setup I've used for years. Works well, and I've never seen the need to change it. I use it for chisels, plane blades and knife blades to keep them sharp. Cost me pretty well nothing - good value! NOTE: the wheel rotates AWAY from me. This is so a blade cannot dig in and flip back at me - you'll only ever make this mistake once!

Mawsons Huts Replica Hobart build and installation
Просмотров 724 года назад
This movie follows the building of the replica of Mawsons Huts from the first plank to the final placement. It was taken using several fixed timelapse cameras, and hand held still and video cameras. It was filmed and edited over some months by myself with help and advice from others. The replica of Mawsons Huts is a faithful copy of the original pair of huts at Cape Denison used by Douglas Maws...
Lifting pavers using high pressure water to clean edges
Просмотров 4 тыс.4 года назад
If the paver is stuck it helps to use a high pressure jet of water to clean the edges. The paver lifters, which are a very easy way to extract a paver without damaging it, are easily made. This is described in this video: ruclips.net/video/7e55D2jLW2Q/видео.html
How to lift pavers without damaging them
Просмотров 79 тыс.4 года назад
One of the most difficult things about a paved surface is lifting the pavers out of the surface without damaging them. In many cases it is impossible, and various techniques such as using a screwdriver, prybar, hammer etc end up either breaking the edges or damaging the paver. In the end it is often easier to break up a paver and pull out the pieces. Here is an idea for non-destructive lifting ...
Make a simple mini-plate compactor for sandstone paving slabs
Просмотров 26 тыс.4 года назад
Limestone pavers need to be tamped onto a sand base, but commercial plate compactors/vibrators are too heavy and crack the pavers, while a hand compactor is hard work (and we broke a couple of slabs with it). This mini-compactor is made from scrap I had lying around. It is much smaller than commercial ones, weighing only 30kg with 1/4 HP washing machine motor. Took a day to build, works well, c...

Log jinker
Просмотров 1 тыс.5 лет назад
This shifts logs up to 7m x 750mm x 2 tonnes into the Lucas mill (or to shift anything heavy). The tongs are used to lift the log off the ground to sling the chains underneath. At the end is shown a 'cant hook', or 'peavey', used to roll logs. There are no plans, I made it out of available scrap. The main beam is 90 x 90 x 3.5 square section, sliding into slightly larger sections at each end an...

Milling with Lucas Mill
Просмотров 3419 лет назад
In a bushfire a large number of Blackwood trees were killed, so we bought a Lucas Mill to let others have access to the beauty of the timber. The Blackwoods from this area are especially lovely because they have spent a long time growing in good soil next to a pure creek. The figuring in the wood is unusually varied.
Bending PVC conduit

For small pieces it's easy to put them in an oven at 110 deg C for 5 minutes, slip a rope inside to stop the PVC kinking, then hold it in place for a few seconds.

I hate having to spend more money to get these things to fit, but it's better than having to throw them in the trash...You'd think for over 100 bucks, they would have something that fit. Thanks for the idea, though, not your fault the engineers at bose can't do their job.

@@Frindleeguy Oh shut up, the vast majority of earbuds have no issues like this - because they actually go INSIDE your ear, instead of having an "innovative" flat design and a hook because the flat design sucks so bad. Bose makes good stuff, but here they just didn't test these enough. Which is not amazing considering the high price.

very nice, I considered doing a full mould of my ear canal and effectively creating an IEM like my wired earphones but I didn't want the hassle of having to remove them when inserting back into the case. I didn't think about just moulding the hook though for a little more stability though. Thanks for the idea, going to see if I can follow your lead but trip it down so it still fits in the case.
