Hey folks, in this episode I will show you how to use the new rotation algorithm in geometry Nodes. If you didn't know already, Blender 4.2 LTS has deprecated the "Align Euler To Vector" node in geometry nodes and replaced it with an "Align Rotation To Vector" node. This means that scatter distribution systems made in geometry nodes using the old system will no longer work in future builds of b...

Particle Animation - Blender Tutorial
Thank you for sharing!
Thank for the tutorial. Any way to use a GN grid? Color doesn’t work without original geometry, but grid would be more flexible
Thats a great idea, it will be more of a complex node tree but I will figure it out and make a tutorial.
I like the content. The background music is a bit on the loud side and distracting. Personal preference is it is not needed for tutorials unless you are trying to drown out the neighbours having a row or something... Cheers
Yes, the background music in my earlier tutorials is louder than it should be, I still have background music on my more recent tutorials but is considerably quiter. I still think I need to reduce the volume a little because as you said it can be distracting. The main reason for using background music is to mask unwanted environmental noises. Thanks for the feedback, it helps me improve future tutorials.
I can't find the screen space refraction box in the materials tab 7:35 (I am using this as a thumbnail so hopefully i can get over 100 subs by the end of next year)
In blender 4.2
Blender 4.2 for eevee has replaced screen Space refraction with raytracing. Enable raytracing in your render setting, and then in the material editor, add a "value" node set to 0.010, and then plug the "value" node into the "Thickness" socket of the "material output" node and you should be good to go.
7:06 Just marking to know where I stopped (taking a break)
I hope you managed to finish the tutorial 🙂
Great tutorial! subbed. How did you get the sharp edges in your thumbnail?
Thanks, I'm glad you found it useful. As for the thumbnail, I made a template so that all my thumbnails are coherent and can seamlessly transition into the animation. I then render out the result of the tutorials and import the movie clips into the thumbnail template for the final render.
@@PhotiniByDesign I mean, what nodes did you use to get sharp edges? The tutorial seems to only have square edges
Maybe you need to increase your point count on the modifier which is controled by the resolution of the curve circle node, I usually set mine to 6, anything below 5 will produce square like patterns.
@@PhotiniByDesign I am using 6 points. The results you showed in the video all have square tips, but your thumbnail shows pointy tips. Wondering what nodes you used to make the sharp/pointy tips shown in thumbnail, if possible
The thumbnail snowflakes are made using the same node structure as the tutorial. The only thing I done to choose pointed tips was to cherry pick the best looking flakes by changing the random seeds until I got the snowflakes I liked. A lot of the snowflakes will produce square looking results, but if you keep changing the random seed values, you should eventually produce similar results. The only other thing I can think of that would prevent the system producing pointy results is the offset values on the mapping node at the beginning of the tutorial.
Thank you so much, our honored teacher😊😊
You're welcome, I am honoured that you are interested in my tutorials. Thank you for watching and have a wonderful day 🙂
@@PhotiniByDesign After watching this helpful tutorial I subscribed right away! Thanks again, Sir!
yo I been working on ts for a bit now, the sky isnt showing up? and the set is gone fully black as well as the sky and I can barely see the silhouette of the building
There are a few options, you can increase the emission value, or/or decrease gamma strength, and/or decrease contrast and increase brightness. Adjusting these values will increase the overall strength of the sky.
@PhotiniByDesign awesome, thanks man
Very useful tutorial.
Glad it was helpful 🙂
One problem. How am I supposed to give it its texture? I tried in shaders but nothing works
Add a material to the mesh, then go back into the geometry node editor, add a "set material" node at the end of the geometry node tree, and select the material in the set material node. You can then go back to the shader editor and edit the material.
@@PhotiniByDesign can you show me so I can know where to put it
I just noticed, I already added a material option in the tutorial! Navigate to your modifier tab, and on you geometry node terrain modifier you made from this tutorial, there should be a box that says material, simply select the material you want to add in the empty box and you should be good to go. ruclips.net/video/0VIK1Ct6jLM/видео.htmlsi=z0jnzTdCRBk6m-xy&t=443
Excuse me sir, what is the lowest blender version I can use to follow the tutorial( I cannot run 4.x.x properly)
The oldest version I can get it to work on is Blender 3.6. If you have an older version of blender, it might be worth enabling the "A.N.T Landscape" Addon that comes shipped with most version of blender, it is a versatile landscape generator.
@@PhotiniByDesign Thank you very much! I shall try it asap.
Thank you
You're welcome anytime, glad you found it useful 🙂
Man that's a shader
Yeah, for sure, the tornado shader is kinda dope aswell...
Hi. I just found your channel by the mandala video. Such cool stuff! Thank you! Subbed. The other videos seem to be cool, too! This one looks exactly like what I'm also looking for. I hope, there is a "snow fall" effect too. I'll watch it later as I have to do some other stuff for now. 🙂
I am really glad you are enjoying the tutorials. I will be making a tutorial for a basic snowfall effect within the next week, but it will be really basic suited for beginners. If you are confident using blender, you might want to follow one of the tutorials I have already made which is a geometry nodes particle system suited for an advanced dynamic snowfall effect. It produces fantastic results and is a really versatile system. When complete, all you have to do is duplicate the snowflakes and make them unique, and them add them to a collection, from there just inject that collection into the geometry nodes particle system. Here is the link to the geometry nodes particle system tutorial. Stay sharp, have a great day and level up 🙂 ruclips.net/video/GKnd3fufi48/видео.htmlsi=-w_9p7-mSlKVaCY1
@@PhotiniByDesign Thank you very much again, for your response itself as for your hints. I've been looking for a simple snowfall effect here on YT, but didn't find much. That was impressing, because I'd say that this should be an easy task for such software and there must be tons of tutorials. At least I didn't find much. I'm more or less a beginner. I've been working with Cinema 4D, 3DSMAX, etc. about 20 years ago. Now I'm learning Blender since a few weeks and think, I have a "broad knowledge", but nothing special. All in all nothing really changed in the last 20 years. The basics are the same. 🙂 So, thank you, I will try out your work and look forward to your next tutorials! Have a great day too and have fun trying out what this life is offering!
This is so freaking cool. Awesome idea to use paths to create the drawing in type effect.
Thanks for the feedback, I am glad you enjoyed it. Grease Pencil is pretty good for effects like this too if use in combination with the build modifier.
hola amigo puedes ayudarme quiero aplicar las animaciones que tienen lar armas y trajes de mi juego pero aun no puedo soy nuevo en esto se que se agregan las imagenes como planos pero hasta ahi por fa ayudame
You will first need to render this effect out as a movie clip in the format of mp4, after that import it into your project file. Then follow the steps in this short tutorial. If you still need help let me know and I will respond as soon as I am back in the studio ruclips.net/video/15hl0eGAewo/видео.htmlsi=LZLwB3IFYwtbXJZZ
@@PhotiniByDesign muchas gracias por responder pero no encuentro los clips en mp4 solo encuentro las imagenes y se que se aplican como planos en forma de malla pero no se como poner los nodos y eso para que generen el movimiento
This is my next few days work to understand.... 😆 ... Thanx for the tutorial! 👍
Awesome, you got this 👍
if you are going to call this an intermediate tutorial please skip all the beginner stuff.
I try my best to cut out all the unnecessary jargon, but I also try my best to make it accessible for all skill levels regardless of difficulty. My tutorials are still a work in progress, and I will try to refine and improve the way I deliver these tutorials while maintaining a balance.
Am actually watching with motivation bro. Could actually get on pc and follow this. Good work. ❤❤️👍
