Mixture in the Spirit Filled Church? (Bathrobe Edition)
What is the state of the Charismatic church? Before stepping down for a time to focus on my personal walk and discipleship, I thought it best to post one last video that helps to round out my Christian experience thus far.

    I know exactly how you feel. All the loneliness, craving connection, feeling distant, you just kind of admit to yourself you won't find many people like you in the world. But let me tell you as a fellow infj, it doesn't have to be that way, and it doesn't have to be in bad light, either. First of all, a little preface, I'm quite young, but it appears that we have a similar tought process, or I'm more mature than I should be. That said, I can relate very well, and although I may not be a preacher or some psychologist, I can give a few good leads to feeling more content in life, and it might lead to feeling more understood, as well. Firstly, id suggest dropping that philosophy. Shopenhauer may be some genius misunderstood lad, but you cannot base your life around a pessimistic view that evil is constantly haunting us. Not to say, he wasn't the best example of a happy and prosperous person too, constantly holding grudges with others of his time. Perhaps if he didn't time his lectures to annoy or disrespect Hegel, maybe they would've given him a better chance (read into that a little, it's an interesting story of shopenhauer hating on Hegel). What i suggest instead, is try with some Aristotle if you're really into philosophy. Ancient Greeks line up well with your tought process, valuing good heart and reason. And he really made it sink in how you should be searching for virtue, and find purpose in bettering oneself. Nichomachian ethics was pretty eye opening to me as it made me realise sometimes oversaturation is as bad as a lack thereof. For example, suppose you are intellectually higher than others. Still, to live a virtuous life, you shouldnt be completely on the analitical side of the spectrum. There are times when you need to let go and be emotional, or simply think less. Virtue is in finding the right amount of intellect in the given situation, not maxing out all the good traits. Also, it doesn't seem you have any mental disorders but you could benefit from talking to a therapist at least once. Arguments for this are: Firstly, you will feel understood, which you rarely do nowadays, even though a therapist will sometimes try to fix an emotional problem with rational talk, which just never works, but at least you will understand better what's under the hood. Second, you might discover you are a little anxious, or a bit too shy, or have some quirks that prevent you from forming connections with people. Even if you feel fine, it could be that you developed in a way that you don't question that part of yourself that is actually the issue. Now, that's my two cents, I'm certain nobody except you or a few people will read all this, but if you did, just know that one understanding friend is better than a hundred shallow ones, and you will eventually find someone. I havent yet, but we shall not lose faith, as it is what defines us, at least in tough times. Try talking to people who major in philosophy or have a degree in that field, you will be surprised by how much they are actually emotional, how well they articulate their toughts, and most importantly, they will offer many perspectives, from many philosophers way before our time. We stand on the shoulders of giants, use that, and you will see that there is a way not just to cope, but to thrive, once you focus sights on what is important. If you need to talk or want me to answer something specific, reply here, anyway, kudos to you for saying that you feel that way and being honest, sometimes it seems there aren't people like you, who genuinely want to do and be good, but you just have to search in the right places. I won't deny that the world today is completely materialistic and stripped to the bone of all value and tradition and culture, but we gotta be the change that we want to see, isn't that right? I hope i made you feel at least a bit more hopeful, I hope you find your way of living with meaning.

      @@petarmarjanovic4607 appreciate the well thought out response. Yeah for me it’s never been so much the inability to connect or be included externally, but to feel internal connection. I suppose that we go through enough trauma that perhaps impairs that ability. I think perhaps that’s indicative of the human condition. I know that connection can be found ultimately in Christ, but there’s a blockage there, likely from my own doing.

    • @petarmarjanovic4607
      @petarmarjanovic4607 6 дней назад

      @defenselesslamb im not that into religion, but Im far from an atheist as well, therfore I can't really see it through your lenses exactly, but I can understand your internal conflict. First of all, it's not your doing. That self talk is detrimental, and that is another reason why I suggest a therapy session, since there may be many negative things you think that are actively blocking your "internal connection". It's unreasonable to believe you will get better if you think its all your fault and spend your whole life feeling bad for "making a mistake". Now, you didn't quite specify to whom you are failing to internally connect, other people or God/Christ. If you are talking about other people, it is reasonable to feel like that. The general crowd has some outrageous ideals, doesn't give a crap about being good or kind or anything of that matter, and, also, they are often interested in very random and uninteresting topics that appear to be just bait for the masses. I know you feel dumb when you wanna talk about something profound yet the whole group yapps about sports all day. But that doesn't mean they aren't people like us, and they also can be used as a good or bad example, and you can learn from them. In any way, it's alright to just let it be and listen to them talk, you don't have to be internally close to everyone, one or two close friends is to be expected, it's just social media making it seem like everyone now has hundreds of friends. If you are talking about connecting with God in a Christian sense, I'm afraid I can't guide you much, but I will say a few things. Let's start with church. It often says one but does the other, advertises as god but plays as the devil, that is, many churches are corrupt and immoral since they are governed by humans, exposed to sin, and not some miracle angel workers. However, even if the church is bad, the religion isn't. And that is why you should find people who go there purely to meet god, not as some sort of power and money games. When you meet someone truly religious, you can ask them how they went through it and deal with it on a daily basis. Often times, you will realise that the church is trying to make you believe you are poisoned and then sell you the cure. For example, it might tell you that you aren't feeling close enough to the lord, then you will go to church more to try to fix that. In reality, you can't be "disconnected" from the lord, it's that everyone's link, so to say, is different, and conducts differently. You aren't blockaded from Christ, you are just feeling him naturally, and you believe that you should be feeling him more. To be human is to doubt yourself and your faith. It's alright if you feel far from the lord. But you must understand that as long as you reach out a hand, he will reach his as well to meet yours. So, in short, don't worry or set yourself a standard to how much you are connected with God, as long as you are trying, even if you are failing currently, you are doing it right. Also, a little side note, not all church is bad, dont get the wrong impression that Im some sort of anti Christian. There are good leasons to be learnt from any religion, just be careful to pick the right ones and throw away the wrong ones. I'm sure you are aware that even the bible has some passages which aren't quite applicable to modern times, but that doesn't mean you should throw it all away. You and your reason should be the scale on which you measure what is good and what is bad for you, don't blindly follow what somebody tells you. It's a difficult task, keeping faith while discrediting certain things they preach, but personally, it's the best way to go about it.

    Man i feel this, im 25 and ive started to feel this way for a year or 2 now. I feel like i can connect with anyone about almost anything, but no one is able to see how i think and it gets REALLY lonely. As soon as i try to take the lead and lead a conversation into my interests, which i get are pretty out there and not really popular and hard to even start to grasp, people just zone out and stop caring, which makes it hard for me to even attempt to connect to them afterwords. I cant even get mad since people are so busy with the bullshit of real life, i just dont think they have the time or energy to get into my interests. At this point im mixed between giving up and delving 20x further into it so i can explain it better and maybe i can have people connect with me and feel the epiphanies about the symmetries of life and the human condition. I just cant stand my genuine efforts to understand others met by no effort for them to understand me, its like why do i even bother talking to others.

    7.30 "point people to truth and reorient peoples values to the correct things" This is not a high IQ video. This was a conceited self indulgent video. To think that you are in command to push people into the direction of values or ethics that are your standards is incredibly naive. For starters you could consider world travel or immersion in different cultures, faiths and non faiths to have a grasp of what humanity actually is and their different value systems. Getting out in the real world might bring you some wisdom that you think you already have. You look young so give yourself the best chance to become a proper well rounded individual contributing to greater humanity.

    6:14 I have both. And one thing that’s hard for me is I don’t understand the people that only have one. They way they just might not think of really anything , or just be completely heartless. Since it’s natural for me to think and feel and do both deeply - I tend to expect the same from others. Bc I wanna be thought about and cared about at the same level I can give to others. That feeling of detachment and “you just don’t get me” is hard. Bc you wanna be understood so badly

    This is the most relatable thing that I've seen to date. I struggle with the exact same thing that you're speaking of. In my experience I've always been insecure about my intelligence and I've behaved purposefully in stupid or ridiculous ways to make myself seem like the people around me because when I show my intelligence people don't want to be friends with me because of the things you mentioned. I have a big heart and a big mind and it's been extremely complicated trying to find somebody that understands me and someone that I form a mutual connection with. I recently met someone who I really do believe understands me as a person and I understand him as well and I have been overwhelmed with emotions due to finally finding that one person I could connect with. I've never had a connection with someone like this before and it is truly rejuvenating to meet that person. I've been waiting my whole life to find someone akin to myself and it's wonderful. It sucks not knowing where or how to find that person and it plagued me for ages and I truly did suffer. I had a breakdown in 2019 that led me down a really dark path and ended up almost ending my life but I am so grateful that I've slowly but surely dug myself out because it has allowed me to find that connection with another person and to fix the problem that originally caused my suffering. I see you and understand how you feel. You are not alone in this, there is someone out there even if that's crazy to believe.

    I promise you that you're not high IQ -- I don't mean that negatively, but maybe this could help you not imprison yourself in this prison of over-intellectualism. And even if you were high IQ, congrats, but that doesn't mean much because IQ isn't that meaningful of a test. There are people with the same interests, people who are into philosophy, psychology, etc. all the intellectual stuff you like, you just gotta find them. And you will find people who are even more intellectual than you to the point you'll feel dumb next to them. For some, socialization is a way to practice their interests (e.g., finding people to discuss philosophy) but for many others interests are a way for socialization. Basically, you can find a book club to discuss your ideas, or you could learn pottery to meet people and talk about those interests. It's not one way. Also, connecting over religion is great for many, but for your own sake, don't let that be your main criteria. You'll find people who are so similar to you but they have a completely different faith -- or none at all.

    i think that there are a lot of people out there similar to you in that big-heart yet analytic/logical + in crisis mode over current-day affairs, but oftentimes those people may not align with Christianity, or, they have denounced belief in the church due to losing faith in god. for many the conclusions that they've drawn concerning epiphanies that plague the modern world contradict higher power. not to say there can't be both, there certainly can (and should!), but if you're gonna find people like you thought-wise, faith god will likely not be something that they take refuge in

    I personally think that it is virtually impossible to return to this social "model." Once an idea becomes the norm, it is difficult to remove it from society because people are immersed in the consequences of these ideas without realizing it and end up reproducing them almost naturally. The only alternative is to adapt, build alternative institutions and try to accelerate the destruction of the old model by proposing incentive mechanisms without directly participating in it, and mainly by imposing the consequences of such ideologies on the social and financial elite that proposed such ideas.
