This is one of my all-time favorite Mariah Carey songs and all-time favorite Christmas songs.
To those that say she is lipping is seriously mistaken. Please listen to the original and you will hear how flawless it sounds. This is definitely live because her voice defs sounds "dryer" for lack of a better word than the original. Maybe lipping is the wrong term then. Maybe re-recorded or pre-recorded in the studio before it was aired then yes but lipped, I don't agree because I have listened to the original tune since 1994 and believe you me the way she sings now does not come near to the flawless version of 1994 and we can't expect her to sound the same as she did then. Even songs like Hero doesn't sound like the 1993 version. I will end off by saying she did a good attempt to stay as close to the original, but she struggled with certain sections as opposed to others and you can't say the other sections are lipped because her voice is unique as she has stated many a time. There are times that she can and other times that she can't hit those notes. Man if Whitney and Celine struggled then so can Mariah. Anyway, I still love Mariah and am so grateful that she finally covered this gem of a song.
When a singer lip syncs they usually do it to a re recorded track that’s different from the studio version. ESPECIALLY if the studio version is almost 30 years old and sounds different from their current voice!
Needless to say, this IS in fact lipped, this whole performance! Anyone with good ears and who’s not delusional can clearly hear and even see her mannerisms that indicate it’s not live. On other nights she doesn’t lip the whole thing but a section of it starting with “the carollers sing in the snow…” I understand she’s doing the best she can with what she’s got and I’m not criticising her, after 32 years of belting out hits vocal deterioration is inevitable…but let’s keep it REAL and not be delusional.

@@rainbowstarmced191 not delusional in anyway. I only speak to facts and as I have stated before in my opinion compared to the original done, this is not lipped. Lipped would mean that she is singing the original version which is totally false. As I have stated before re-recorded or pre-recorded then I understand and even then it is not lipped if she goes into the studio to do new vocals to the song. I'm just stating my opinion and respect yours. Thanks.

Half is lipped
This night she lipped the whole song because it’s the one that’s being broadcasted on tv and it needed to be perfect. The other nights she lipped only half the song. ❤
