    If you want a 16GB RAM NVIDIA, you need a Jetson Orin NX Kit, and this drives you up to $900. But the Jetson supports CUDA, which is a huge advantage. The Pi AI Kit is more like an exotic toy, it only runs very limited AI, where the Jetson runs llama.cpp/ollama,…

    If you want to make comparisons, why not compare it to the Luckfox Core3576 Edge Computing Development Board? It is far more advanced and capable than any Raspberry Pi ever made. It’s also much more comparable to professional hardware for edge computing, like the Jetson Nano. Raspberry Pi simply doesn’t play in this league.

    • @martincerven
      @martincerven 20 дней назад

      IDK, are u sure it's better? I saw Jeff's Geerling post about Rockchip SBC's being poor in support department: www.jeffgeerling.com/blog/2024/popular-rockchip-sbc-distro-limbo-after-maintainer-burns-out From what I've seen with RPi vs. cheaper knockoffs the software development is ongoing (Vulkan 1.3 on Mesa). If I wanted to save 50$ and then spend 4 weeks fiddling with OS for hopes of some small performance increases, then I'd just buy Jetson and be done with it.

    • @shadyjeweller7961
      @shadyjeweller7961 19 дней назад

      @@martincerven Raspberry Pi is Jeff Geerling’s religion, and he is its high priest. big.LITTLE architecture means you have more than one processor, and the scheduler plans tasks so they run on whichever core is best. In the case of the Luckfox device, that means: 1x Arm Cortex-A72 @ 2.2GHz 1x Quad-core Arm Cortex-A53 @ 2.0GHz That’s 8 cores with different speeds running in parallel. Your operating system can, for example, run on the slower A53, leaving the full 2.2GHz completely free for workloads without the OS hogging that resource. And if that’s not enough, the scheduler can still bring in cores from the A53. That’s what the Raspberry Pi can only dream of. On top of that, the Luckfox board also has a dedicated NPU for AI. And that’s essentially the main purpose of a Jetson Orin Nano-whereas a Raspberry Pi is about as suitable for AI as my smartwatch. So I stand by what I said: whether it’s about IO, flexibility, or just raw performance, the Raspberry Pi simply isn’t playing in the same league as the big boys. By the way, in Germany a Raspberry Pi 5 costs around 80-90€ (about $85-$95). The Luckfox device in its basic configuration is 75€ (about $80), making it cheaper. And there’s no need to mess around with the OS, since Luckfox offers both Debian and Ubuntu, as well as an SDK for the platform.

    Software support for an SBC is crucial for me and I love Raspberry PI OS because it has no frills. My RPI 5/8GB is overclocked to 2900MHz and runs wonderfully. Because the 16GB version SoC has a different coding instead of COT is DOT, can it also be overclocked to 2900MHz? That will also be the deciding factor as to whether I buy it.
