“How bad is the orange peel with a turbine sprayer?” Apparently very bad.
@@sanxhez5611 my first troll comment? Awesome! Customer work truck not a show car. He was happy with it. The rest of the truck had a similar peel. It ain't always about "glass glass glass"
Hey good job I have a old apollo 800 will that aliExpress, turbine gun. Would it work with it?...I don't think the turbine don't have bleeder valve
@@kayden774 there is a valve you can buy and hook up to a turbine that allows you to spray a bleeder style gun. I have one on one of my turbines
Why am i just now seeing this lol NICE !
@@speedokoterefinishnetwork4937surprised you seen it at all🤣I have one of those micro channels where a thousand views is a whopping success😆
Awesome! I truly enjoy turbine spraying. More people should give it an honest try. The results are amazing.
@@Nino13084 i think its used a lot more for furniture and cabinet spraying, but it's great for automotive as well.
i have the tp tools turbine and it has been a nightmare to use. I was doing sealer and base coat with the 1.0 tip and it seems to work ok. I was also using the gravity feed gun with a 1.0 tip and thinned clear coat 4:1:1 and it still gets a terrible amount of orange peel. Should I just buy the Fuji turbine? I hate the tp tools turbine so far
@@icejawa1829 its only a 3 stage turbine. For automotive a 5 or 6 stage is best. I bought a Sprayfine turbine unit. 5 stage. It has constant 9 psi. No adjustments. I use it with the fuji gun, tp tools gun, ect. Performs well. It was less than $600 when i bought it. With inflation, I can't say what it costs now. The 5 stage fuji costs much more.
I watch all your stuff man keep it up!
@@barnsey96 appreciate it. Some videos get a few hundred views, some get less than 100. I don't worry about it. Just putting up vids when i feel like it 🙃
Base coat sprayed with 5 stage turbine and Fuji T series spray gun. Clear sprayed with Master Pro series 22 spray gun(midi size gun) Epoxy sealer sprayed with an AliExpress mini gun🤨yup
Good stuff man!
I want to clarify that I do 100 percent epoxy over body repairs that have been blocked sanded. I use polyester primer over all body filler and repairs. Prior to painting, on an overall, I reduce the Epoxy 10 percent or whatever the manufacturer says I can, and seal the entire vehicle. (Older cars, classics)
What gun
Bro your content is improving! Great stuff!
I freely admit i'm not much of a video producer😂I do post a few mainly so my future customers can check out what I do. No aspirations to become a RUclipsr legend
@@BearBudgetgarage haha as you’ve mentioned before! But your stuff with the turbines is really the only real time stuff out. So great work regardless!
Did you custom make your color shift and if so how. Thanks
@@myblkz no, I simply did a search online for green color shift options and purchased 2 different ones. One had more yellow. This one more bronze, so I went with the deeper tones. Think I got it off Ebay...
do recommend apollo over the fuji system
@@suspensefulness both are great turbines. The Apollo gun is different in that you can mix and match cap and needles. For instance, using a .08 needle/nozzle on the cc cap. Or trying the 1.0 on the CC cap for high solids clear. It allows some customization. The Fuji gun has a huge consistent fan that you actually have to pull in. For base and clear all you need is the 08 and 1.0. Both are winners. I have both and use both. Just depends on the job and what I feel like using, really. I like options. Keeps it interesting
good vid indeed
each fail is a lesson leaned ! ......i love the quote ! ....cheers indeed Jay Fox
good vid !
Have the fuji xpgc with 1.0 tip how many turns out do you do for base coat just looking for a general baseline
That masking job isnt very nice .gonna have fun cleaning all the over spray off the glass and such 9psi is still gonna make a mess
The 9 psi is why I could get away with it Minimal bounce back. Really didn't have a mess to clean up at all. Bring out any one of my compressor guns...then u got that mess you are talking about
Do you know if the fuji 3 stage could do similar finish, and was there muvh overspray.
@@stevejohn5624 3 stage is ok for base and primer, sealers, but for clear coat i want nothing less than a 5 stage. I dont want to do a lot of wetsanding and buffing if i don't have to
Did you use a turbine?, if you did wat was the setup please, thanks,a great looking finish .
Turbine for this job. Apollo 7700 gun for clear. 0.8 tip. Full pressure
So this is a clearcoat sprayed at 7psi?,looks brilliant,i was thinking about getting the fuji 3 stage which is about 6.5 or thereabouts .
wow😱😱 looks like apollo stage 5 over fuji q5🤷🏾♂️
Both 5 stage systems are very good. The key is dialing in the gun just right to minimize orange peel
@@BearBudgetgarage ok thanx i know the apollo cost more especially the precision series
im really trynna decide on the fuji q5 vs apollo stage 5 turbine
Got a question for you. I finally bought my base (2:1) Do you think 1.5 gallon of sprayable is enough for engine bay, jambs, and exterior. I'm doing a color change on 2000 civic coupe. Color is Obsidian blue metallic(very dark) My undercoat is Speedokote Trex sealer in black. From my understanding turbine spraying uses less paint. Thank you.
@@alpha2daquest885 if you are spraying with a turbine and a 1.0 nozzle should be plenty more paint goes on the panel and not in the air with a turbine. I used that amount on a Beetle with 3 or 4 coats needed as the paint was not covering well over the grey primer. So quality of the base coat can make a big difference in how much you use as well
@@BearBudgetgarage I see what your saying. Better quality paint covers better. I might just buy 1 more quart of base just for bay. Heck even single stage. This project is adding up $. At least next paint job I'll have the equipment and just buy consumables. Do you think I should buy the .8 needle/nozzle as Apollo recommends for auto paint?
With the Apollo, I would say yes on the 0.8 especially for clear. Cc cap is good to have as well. But everyone has different preferences. I want the finest atomization I can get out of the turbine
Great idea. I wanted to buy an open box Avanti at my local HF for $350 but rep says no warranty. I declined. I was going to use it for primers and my Precision 5 for Bc/Cc.
I bought the Apollo used. Came with a broken gun, but every needle, nozzle, cap you could want plus the hose. So it was a good value. The Sprayfine was new but under 600 at the time I bought it. Has performed great. No adjustments, but not needed as I would use full psi for clear anyway. For guns I use the 7700 Apollo and the latest T series Fuji. Have a couple cheaper guns for sealer or general priming.
@@BearBudgetgaragewhat made u choose apollo over fuji..im trying decide 🤷🏾♂️
@@alpha2daquest885 Jake Lesada bought the avanti and has a few videos using it. Seems to work fine. At $350 that would have been a great deal. I would have asked them to plug it in so I knew it worked ok, then bought it. I have the Avanti turbine gun and have used it for epoxy, primer/sealers. Has a good fan. A few needle sets are available, too
@@suspensefulness At the time I wanted to buy all local HF stores were already out of the Avanti. Also the Apollo had all the best features which I thought would make spraying easier for being a beginner. Yes I watch Jake's vids on it which was why I was considering it. My bad just realized the ? was for BearBudget.
@@alpha2daquest885 all good my guy im just trying to se which to go with..1500$ is a investment for me right now
Nice! Great content. Why the smaller needle with bigger cap?
@@barnsey96 with the Apollo gun you can mix and match the caps, needles, nozzles to create your own desired result. I wanted a very fine spray with little peel to match the paint on a Miata job. The CC cap is the finest cap. The 0.5 needle with the 0.8 nozzle was an experiment that worked. It layed out thin coats. I did 100 percent overlap 2 or 3 times before dropping down 50 percent for the next pass. A bit slow, but slow down to go fast. I did not have to buff for peel. And I needed to get it done that day. Any time I can avoid buffing, it's a good day👍
@@BearBudgetgarage looks good man!
I was told by a neighbor that builds hot rods , that Nason paints put out a real strong nasty smell . What do you think?
I have my respirator on and exit the garage between coats, so I'm not really affected by any paint odors. Some clear coats have a stronger smell as well. Just part of the deal, I guess, if you want to garage paint
understandable, Thank You
Its so dark in your garage how do u see what your doing gun light would help alot is it 9 psi the turbines spray
I have a big light on a stand as well as a hand held led light I use. Just didn't use it on the brief video. Did use it to finish the bumper, tho
My 5 stage turbine has a fixed 9 psi. My 4 stage apollo is around 7 max. Seems to like 6.8. good for base coat. Works for sealer. I like the 5 stage for clear, of course
@@BearBudgetgarageim trying to decide between fuji 5 or apollo power 5?
Looks nice. Also liked that classic jazzy hiphop.
Thanks for creating videos. I 've been watching Jake Laseda and saw your comment. I just got my Apollo precission 5 Le Plus. Apollo recommends getting .8 tip for auto refinishing but from your vids look like I'll be fine with 1.0. Going to subscribe to you for sure. My kit included 5 needles and tips which I didn't know would be included with the kit; good thing I didnt buy in advance. I was going to buy Precision 6 but just the turbine alone was $2100. Precision 5 Le+ was $1950 which included everything. I got tired of having people paint my cars not to my standards. May YHWH bless you!
One of the keys is dialing in the fluid just right. I find multiple thin coats(3) to leave less orange peel with a turbine instead of dumping on the clear. Its only 9 psi. Recently added a Fuji T series gun to my arsenal as well. 1.0 does a Real Nice job with that gun. With the Apollo I have sprayed clear with the 0.5 cap and needle set (,7700 gun) on parts and small panels and blends. Very fine atomization. Too fine for larger panels. And needs to be a 4 to 1 clear. A lower solids clear. And basecoat? Turbine spraying makes metallics easy. No mottle. Chameleon and pearls, too. There I go, rambling on about turbine spraying again😂😂😂
No problem. I appreciate all the incite. Thank you.
You can't go wrong with the fuji t 1.0 cap lays clear coat down like glass.
It's my new go-to clear gun. Only took one spray-out to see what it could do
@@BearBudgetgarage gotta admit I'm impressed.....what sprayer and gun combo to you settle on ? thanks in advance Jay

The clear coat was the last piece of the turbine puzzle for me. Finally getting consistent results without needing to do a lot of wetsanding and buffing. Just denibbing and doing a pretty fast buff with 3m foam pads. Been liking the fc720 lately especially for the price. It can provide a nice finish

@@BearBudgetgaragelink to turbine??
@@BearBudgetgarageyou got a link for the turbine system?
Are you spraying entire cars with the Apollo Turbine System? I have the 5 stage. Was wondering if an entire car could really be sprayed with it like they claim. Want to spray base and candies with it. But trying to get confirmation before I end up wasting or making an expensive mistake.
I spray all my base with a 5 stage turbine. It does great on metallics For clear coat i still use my compressor most of the time. But primer, sealer, base...all turbine.
@@BearBudgetgarage thanks for your response. Because I have big cars
@@BearBudgetgarage I was saying that because I know that I'd have to walk the entire car,in order to do Candy paint jobs. So that I want have tigerstripes and multiple blotches. Trying to get out of truck driving, and get into something that I really love. Which is cars.
@@myronrichard198 with the turbine, you never have inconsistent air, pressure drop, no filters needed. The air is warm and dry, so u also have to use slower reducers than normal. i use a lot of slow for base. If you have a quality turbine gun, your base will lay out great. I do chameleon and pearls and it comes out great. I have an Apollo gun and the fine finish gun from tp tools.
@@BearBudgetgarageThanks,again. I have the entire Apollo stage 5 with their gun.
Garage Noise om TikTok recommended your channel to me, I have a 5 stage turbine sprayer that I'm having trouble getting dialed in for automotive use. Could you tell me what settings you're using and what products? I've had a couple jobs turn out decent but the ones that didn't were pretty bad. And the fun thing about paint is whether it turns out good or bad it's still expensive lol
I use the turbine for all base coat applications and its great. Saves a lot of paint. I don't always use it for clear application on a full job. For clear, i'm working close to the panel and moving pretty fast with 0.8 tip. Or 1.0. 4 to 1 clear. If needed, i add a little reducer to help it flow out. I can't really lay glass with my turbine, but can get a factory peel. On an overall paint job, usually have to buff it out. For classic cars, i base with the turbine and clear with my Iwatta. As i can lay a thicker, glassier coat with my W 400.
@@BearBudgetgarage Thanks for the info. What settings/tips are you using for primer/sealer? I was getting lots of orange peel and runs that I had to sand down.
@@kc3689 use 1.3 for 2 k primer. Poly primer i use 2.0 . I dont worry much about peel since its all sanded. But if getting runs, move faster on your passes or dial down the fluid so u can control it.
@@kc3689 also check out Jake Lesada on on youtube! He has been doing automotive turbine painting for years and has quote a few videos that might be helpful
@@BearBudgetgarage Thanks for your help, will do.

Hey BB, i'm keepin' busy busy I know u are too pushing out all that work and video content👍👍
What do you think about the speedokote clear, I’ve never sprayed it, nice work Bear💯
Smr 42 is good stuff. I've used the fast dry clears as well. All work well for me
Soo nice. Can't wait to start painting. Just got to get more supplies.
7 psi?
Apollo is about 7 psi. I have a 5 stage that runs at about 9 psi
Looks like great results fro a turbine!
Took a while, but got it dialed in pretty good now. Using the turbines for all jobs now. Main advantage for me in this environment is unlimited dry warm air, no fluctuations, and lower overspray. I am seeing material savings as well. Application is a little slower, but not an issue for me.
That is hitting fam 💪🏾
Was fun job to do, but no room for error. You stumble and have a heavy spot on a door...sanding it down and reshooting. Ask me how I know😂 other than that, went well and this guy is influencing his crowd to check on some custom pearls, so more potential flip flop jobs👍
I like it didn't know they had both a gravity feed and siphon on the same gun... Gonna prime my 72 dart quarters with an earlex 5500 no where near as nice as your Apollo setup.
Should work fine for primers. I went for the best I could get because of the volume of work I take on. If I was going to go from compressor to turbine, I had to go full in👍
What needle nozzle and pressure? I have the Apollo pro 5 stage and struggling with atomization..
@@bryanwagner4670 If Apollo does not have a chart get it off of the Fuji site,it has been pretty close and over reduce everything 5-10%.My unit tops out at 10.5 and it works well for me.
Nice work
Worked ok but the fan seems to small... I've used cheap turbines to spray cars to lay down primers a 1.7 or 2.0 is better I've sprayed single stage colors with a 1.4 good results...the better high end turbine 3 or 4 stages can do a better job and have fan control which the cheaper bleeder gun don't but for primer that your going to send any way the cheaper setups work good. Looking forward to more turbine videos as you beat the curve.
The fan can go large if I want, but it's not an issue to me. I was comfortable doing a demo of one panel with that fan. It may not be fast enough for big production oriented shops, but this is just me and one or 2 cars at a time at my own pace. I have both a 4 and a 5 stage turbine. On this vid I was using the 4. And the gun was about $500 so it really isn't a budget priced gun in terms of turbines. It's the best gun out there in my opinion. Maybe Fugi next. In the end, with no booth, low overspray and the end result is all I care about. The slower speed is the compromise,I guess. And I can live with that. Thanks for checking out the video👍
@@BearBudgetgarage I’m headed to buy an Apollo 7700 as we speak….what air cap and fluid nozzle set were you using to spray the epoxy primer in this video? No overspray is exactly my goal for my garage paint job!
@@jerryhovet2991 the epoxy was not thick and i used a 1.0 set. That would be tiny with a traditional gun, but turbines are different
