Chainsaw Tuesday

Twenty years ago, Tuesday 19 October 2024, there was fighting in the back streets of Hebden Bridge. It was at the height of the property boom and developers were buying up any scrap of land they could find. One such scrap was the old Mill Pond land bounded by the Hebden Water, Spring Grove and Windsor Road/ Windsor Terrace.Digital photography was still in its early days so many of the photos ar...

I can't believe I've just watched this entire video waiting for the newsreader to mistakenly read the stage direction "cuts to gritting in Hebden Bridge" from her autocue 😂😂
👯👯👯👯
NOTHING wrong with using the cobbles , those chairs are extremely expensive and extremely well equipped , you are just being pedantic and look rediculous .
sure you chairs can cope with the cobbles...mine does...just doing it to make a point
Just go round you drama queens. All the problems in the world and you cant go on cobbles . Pathetic.
We should not lose sight of the fact that movement in our towns is difficult for many people. Clips like this remind us of that even though many advances have been made. We remember the time before 'dropped kerbs' and 'steps' and narrow entrances and and......
The available pavement was cobbled and is a hazard to wheelchair users
Is it a pavement or is it a forecourt?
It's forecourt defined by the flush curb
The cafes pay rent to use part of the sidewalk, there was plenty of room to go around but they wanted to make a fuss. Locally, we have an electric wheel user who continually complains about access issues but he always uses his car.
Sidewalk….you’re not from Yorkshire are ya….?? They’re not comfortable on the cobbles, u not get it….? U should sit in a wheelchair & try it for yourself……
The rent covers the building and is paid to a landlord, the footpath is the property of the council and is maintained by them.
@@Chalkbalone No, the cafes rent the pavement area from the council
@@peterw4338 No one can rent a pavement it's for the public to walk on, they pay taxes to have the council maintain it.
@@jerrywallop5647 I don’t like Whippets, Yorkshire tea is for wimps and you can’t make your own Hovis adverts
This was the STUPIDEST video. Drive through a seating area when they SHOULD have stayed on the sidewalk. Plus the people setting one person to a table would not use those end chairs. That is for a 5th person. That was not a drivable street. Pedestrian only. Has to be a better way to show a video without looking highschoolish
and cobbled...almost impossible to comfortably use a wheelchair over cobbles...the PATHWAY was where they did go...and those tables and chairs should not have been out there blocking the way. It is a public thoroughfare not a private seating area
As soon as you said sidewalk, your opinion became irrelevant.
@@judithblades5578 I'm sorry to burst your balloon, but those cafes are entitled to place tables outside. The local council would most certainly have stepped. They did leave a wide enough throughway. The fact it's cobbled is irrelevant. The council decided to cobble that area, and it's the council that needs to address the problem.
@judithblades5578 totaly wrong, the public right of way is the cobbled path infront of green wind break
Did they ride around on purpose? I'm just curious as the man could helped out
I dont think so my opinion for what its worth
Good points made here, also if you are blind then this also very hindering forcing you onto the road!
Don’t like it all. We need to keep each of these traditional styles alive but not as a meaningless mish mash. Great disservice to folk dance.
Wow, short, but very entertaining. What style, of dancing, would that be?
Which one's Morris?
OMG Gawd help us. What is this????? Morris it ain't. Not even remotely. UK-style folk dancing???? Oh, please. No. Not even close. Sellengers Round is (BTW) one of the Playford Dance Tunes, and is in no way connected to Morris. Self obsessed would-be traditional uninformed "take" on a tradition that the "performers" know nothing about, and have done no research.
The morris tag comes from the Hebden Bridge Web who posted the video - it is to them you should be addressing your ire. The dancers are 400 Roses - a belly dance / English folk dance crossover. And they clearly do not consider themselves morris dancers.
It is called ‘clickbait’ I am surprised it wasn’t titled ‘naked morris dancers perform in the White House in front of JFK…..’
Not quite Morris. These performers are the 400 Roses. From their website: "the 400 Roses are a unique group who combine UK-style folk dancing with more exotic tribal belly dance moves". The tune being played is Sellenger's Round which is also used for an English Country Dance (think 'Jane Austen' style dancing). Outside of this team, you won't find many (if any) Morris teams kitted (costumed) like this nor dancing like this. They are unique. But there are contemporary Morris Morris sides (teams) that like to venture into unique and distinctive territory offering a blend of traditional with new approaches. For example, see Boss Morris.
Great stuff! It has parallels with a song by one of our artists, Ben Calvert. ruclips.net/video/1SUy0_G6JNw/видео.html
Lovely mix of moves!! wish it was a longer clip
😖 What else can you say ? 😄😆
Crazy lady ! That wig is terrible 😄😆
Great mask Rosie 👏👏👏 You are very creative ... and very talented !
Soothing music. Thank you for sharing. I am sure it was electrifying watching and hearing it live, moreso playing in the band.
I had no idea women could be Morris Dancers. I just thought men alone danced this way!!!
The history of women in Morris is more than can be addressed here but, in the 21st Century, there are scads of women dancing Morris. That said, the dancing in this video is only kind-of Morris.
Check out Beltane Border Morris for women with attitude.
Lots of these folks could cycle.
Beautiful.
Vital work that we're grateful is being done, however, much more information is needed and better management of the traffic light system at peak times!
Amazing !!! You going places
Got Scared there when i clicked on the vid almost had an 'art attack 😱🤣🤣, great vid tho mate 👍🙏🙏
Wise counsel indeed 👏
I empathise with the public and business re: train strikes, however, I cringed at the rather pathetic and short-sighted comments from David Fletcher, yesterday. As he branded the Railway workers, ''Extremely selfish and not careing about anyone but themselves'', well, it wasn't that way during COVID PANDEMIC when they worked their socks off at the request of our Government. No doubt he voted for Craig Whittaker and the Tory party and so perhaps he meant to direct his comments toward them? Strikes are poor for everyone, not least the workers who, will lose pay. But like all systems in this country, the rail network appears broken. The workers united will never be defeated: we must hope this stands. GOOD LUCK!
Wonderful
Love you, Hebden Bridge! xxx
nice song enjoyed it
this is a great tune,
I almost drowned ;-;
