    Why did you replace your cable if you dont mind me asking. I am having a hard time getting my truck in park. It will go right in if you use your hand but the shifter seems to run out of travel to go into park. I tried adjusting the cable just as you did. Wondering if my cabke is broke or stretched.

    • @normanpaulife
      @normanpaulife День назад

      I was receiving a park neutral error code, I replaced the shift selector switch. After replacing the selector switch the cable needed adjustment , the brittle adjuster broke so I had no alternative but to replace it. In your case , I’d properly weight the shifter and ( with care) remove the clip and adjust the cable

    You do not need to remove all of those components.you need to remove..distributor cap(wires),breather hose, air cleaner assembly to the throttle body,dipstick tube,..and coil.that's it!!.. I've been a mechanic for over 30 years this is really a bad video especially if you're trying to teach somebody something on a truck that old you're more likely to snap something or break something you didn't even need to be messing with.

      It was his truck and his decisions , he wanted to do it “his way” I supplied answers if and when asked , and prevented damage or mistakes. He learned to trust himself. And began his journey after two repairs I began my mechanical journey in a small engine shop at 16 and became and aircraft mechanic at 18, and attended automotive maintenance technology (technical school) at 22. I have more than 46 years of experience from small engines to B - 52s ( jet engines) . If you get an opportunity watch the video I made replacing an 6 liter Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor and compare “My Method” to others out there. I have another video on flushing the brake system (awaiting editing). I would encourage you to drain and flush the system to prevent the contaminants and moisture from breaking down your hard work. Wish you tremendous success! Thank you for your comment

    common problems?

    • @normanpaulife
      @normanpaulife 8 месяцев назад

      EGR blockage, makes hard starts, poor fuel economy, rough idle, lack of power. You’d also want to check Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor , if the EGR is plugged up or full of carbon the EBPS and tube for blockage it’s closely related and very common. I have a video showing the tools and method to make it much easier.

    Just bought 86 but the car haven’t run in over 5 years so I’ve had change the fuel pump and fuel filter and new distributor cab and wires and there’s spark when you crank it but won’t start? Any suggesting

      @normanpaulife 9 месяцев назад

      Have you checked for spark ? The simplest way is use the coil wire and spare plug if you have one. If you have spark, you might try priming the engine with fuel in the intake. If the car has sat for many years - it’s most likely fuel related , but the ignition module is all completely within reason. The Fiero is very reliable car and I find it easy to fix . I have a long history with them , feel free to ask questions

      I should’ve mentioned. Are your spark plugs wet ? That’s two signs , yes you’re getting fuel and not getting spark.

      If you ( like me ) purchase an engine from a junk yard , you’ll receive a long block, that’s the core engine and heads. You’ll need all the accessories from your engine , for example. Starter, alternator, fuel injection system, ignition system, AC, power steering etc. Don’t throw anything away until the new motor is running reliably! You’d be surprised what you can reuse especially hardware
