    I just started canning last month. I have 3 kinds of baked beans, and some of every kind of bean just to see how we like the various recipes. I am shopping the ads and canning those items that we like. I just put up 10 lbs of potatoes that were $0.87 for a 5 lb bag.

    • @henrib723
      @henrib723 Месяц назад

      Way to go with the bean varieties! Testing to see which one your family likes best is a great idea. Also, that is a great price on potatoes. What a great sale!

    Thanks for the easily understood instructions. Raw pack for meats is my favorite method. My make shift pantry, former coat closet 😊 has chicken, beef,potatoes and various beans. Also have vegetable soup and some canned meals ready to heat and eat. Times are tight and we're about to be squeezed harder. Come together people! It's how we survive.

    Hello, how are you? This is my first time growing mustard greens say collard greens. They are growing so fast. I actually planted mine after my neighbors, but mine has grown so much bigger and I’m thinking I really don’t want to clip them right now, but they need to be clipped and I’m thinking it’s too early so can you give me, some advice the leaves are large, but the stem hasn’t grown up out the ground enough. That’s what I’m thinking.

    • @henrib723
      @henrib723 Месяц назад

      Hello. I am doing well, thank you. I can't tell you what to do but from what you describe this is what I would do. I would focus on the leaves closest to the soil. I would cut the leaves from the 2 lowest levels which should be enough for dinner and leave the rest of the plant in the ground. It should continue to grow and the stalk will get stronger as it does. This is the cut and come again method. Happy gardening!

    I can appreciate your taking a rest from gardening.I live in zone 7b which has a longer growing season than your zone. The Lord has blessed me with gardening, it is very good for my health. When I was younger I could ride a bicycle twenty miles a day,and I ride a stationary bike now for miles a day, gardening is the best exercise I have ever enjoyed. I thank the Lord for the sunshine and all the health benefits, not to mention the food that the Lord has provided.I believe gardening is very good for our health, and I believe many people who are on medication for blood pressure, diabetes,and so many other illnesses would do better if they would enjoy the blessing of gardening.I enjoy your videos and they are very helpful.

    Your advice to wear gloves when digging in the soil is spot on. It makes me cringe whenever I see people just dig in the soil with bare hands and I know that many of them do it because they either don’t have gloves handy or perhaps they want to appear hard-core or as someone who is all into nature. Considering the amount of bacteria/pathogens in soil, no reason is good enough for not wearing gloves.
