Saxophonist Walter Beasley gives some words of encouragement to bassists about signing up for Gerald Veasley's Bass BootCamp in Philadelphia after attending himself and gaining much knowledge and inspiration. Recorded March 2017.
Anybody who plays bass needs to have Marcus Miller as a mentor. He’s sooooooo good! His slap is like no others. He even endorses a top bass manufacturer in sire basses. I have 2 and they’re both worth way more than they cost. You da man Marcus! Slap, pluck hammer on!
Turn that bass up Mr. Miller. You da best!
That one crash is getting on my nerves. A smaller one would be better, quiter.😮😮😮
I was sooooo fortunate to have been there for this great master class, as I have been at every Bass Boot Camp that Gerald (and Roxanne) Veasley have put on but one in the last 13 years. Marcus Miller is an absolute treasure!
What's different you usually don't see him playing a lot with rosewood necks always maple 🎸👀🔥

The band is very good too.

47:01 do you know the song name?
And this one 14:23 ?
14:23 anybody know what song this is??
Great interview 👍🏾
Well , time felt fast although it's more than an hour
He's that good and made other artist sound great.......... 👀
Take off his fretboard he doesn't needs it go legend
Props to the rhythm section for hangin there with all those licks.
Jameson didn't play on all of the J5's records.... definitely Darling Dear and a few more. But in actuality The gentleman who Marcus alluded to by the name of Wilton Felder, played on I Want you Back,ABC, STOP THE YOU SAVE.
Marcus, Larry Graham, Louis Thunder Thumbs Johnson as far as thumping and popping hands down.
Talk about putting some STANK on it 😮PHEW"
Can’t believe the drummer’s eyes locked in with the bass like there’s no tomorrow. 😂 nope I’m not taking my eyes off of that guy!
An hour well spent on Christmas day, taking lessons from the great Marcu Miller. Thank Marcus! I'm not a bass player, but I'm learning to play the acoustic guitar. Awesome!
Was so full of info and inspiring!!! I'm an abstract artist creating a new expression THANKS TO musicians such as Marcus who BREATHE their craft and I gain from their exhales!!! Powerful stuff & history he shared!!! ❤
33:08 - 35:16
Es simplemente, espectacular lo que hace con el bajo eléctrico. Un genio de esos que sólo nacen una vez en la vida. Gracias Bass BootCamp.
masterclass in how to play with other musicians.. and im a keys player learned so much. much groove
👏🏾👏🏾
What tune does does Marcus play at 36:00 minutes?
Jean Pierre (Miles Davis)
UNBELIEVABLE had no idea he is that good !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He’s been playing since a child, and never stopped.
Absolutely Made my Day! Love how tight you all are. I'm a keyboard player and picking up the bass for the first time. So inspired now. Thank you amazingly talented tight, AND handsome men!
This dude, victor wooten, and jaco pastorius are three of the most overrated bass players of all time. like just listen to the opening song... drummer and keyboardist sound great and this guy is just taking a shit all over it. he plays like he's bored and trying to do something flashy to stay interested. it's just not how bass is supposed to be played. there's no groove.
its really interesting for Marcus to talk about seeing players as gods and then realizing they're human once you meet people close to them. young people like me now look at players like Marcus and think he's a god haha
love marcus 😸
❤
What!, not a Sire bass in sight....
As always, Marcus delivers. This may be my ears, but I miss that EBS rig vs the MB 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
As an Aries, I'm Guity as Charged.. (A "Hard Head Makes a Soft ASS!!")
I think what makes Marcus Miller great is that he has been a student of Music throughout his career, learning from other artists he worked with. He is a real musician and humble about his craft.
Flea plays Piano very well. You see this in his evolution how he plays bass now and maybe 20 years ago.
No one comes to close to Marcus. A true legend in the truest meaning of the word!
Love you Beanie....Patty from Maine and Frazier st.
Damn!!!!!! This is righteous!!
Marcus has been a first-call bassist not only because of his immense talent, skill, and experience, he is a very cool person and always serves the song, not himself!!! Even though he has PHENOMENAL CHOPS, he's all about the groove!!! He dropped some serious knowledge and advice!
Marcus the 🐐, I think he finally hit a wrong note at 1:30 😅.
listen closely to his albums ;) it's ok you just play wrong notes wright and also Repetition Legitimizes
I’ve always loved his tone.
Marcus Miller and these musicians are HOT. A tour de force in bass education.
4:07 and on sounds like something jimi Hendrix would have played if he was a bassist lol. Wow
46:43
Marvellous bass player (musician) & a wonderful human being. I could listen to him talk all day long. Such an illustrious career and yet so so humble. 🙏🏻 Thanks for posting this video.
His inside ghost rhythms are badass. I love that even when he goes off and solos a little he never looses sight of the bottom end responsibilities
You know that's a legend, makes it look easy
Marcus Miller, the bass player. I love his playing style and emotional experience, expression on tunes.
What happened to Miller's tone? Where did it go?
